I really like that this is a moulded cup plunge underwired bikini top with a tie back closure. I thought this meant I could ignore the band size and aim for a good sister size in cup volume. On paper, it sounds perfect. In reality though, the bikini top did not work out.
I'm not sure if the cup shape on a 30FF or 28G would have been any different, but these cups are too wide for my frame. They appear to force my boobs east-west and flatten. Regarding cup volume, I would tend to go with usual volume or size up if you'd like a bit more coverage. I sized down and am suffering from major quadboob as a result.
It's worth mentioning that the tie strap is not very sturdy and can't do much to secure the moulded cups properly to my body. As a result, the bikini top contributes little to support.
I purchased this bikini top along with the matching side-tie bottoms in the beautiful "India" colourway from ASOS as it was heavily discounted and postage to Australia is free - a rare and wonderful thing. This top is very poorly engineered and that's a shame because it looks very nice. As other online reviewers have noted, it can be difficult to tie the band in a way that it is firm enough around the ribcage. My ribcage comfortably measures 72cm and I do not like tight bands. Even though I could manage to tie the top in a way that felt firm enough for my liking, the fit of the ...top was so distorted that leads me to believe this could only work better for someone with larger under bust measurement. The cups seem to run a bit large though I can't say that with certainty. They seem to be tall (both under the arm and on the chest) and wide. The wires are long and poke under the arm and the gore is not low enough to be classified as a plunge in my opinion. I am too close-set for the gore height and cup separation. If I were to re-order this top I would take at least one cup size smaller but due to poor construction and shape incompatibility, I won't be doing that. When I hold the cups up to myself they seem as though they would fit OK except they are too tall for me (I problem I have with almost every bra) and thus provide more coverage than I'd like. The width of the cups is 17.5cm but when I tie up the band appropriately, the cups widen to somewhere in the realm of 23cm and end up sitting towards my back. The wires are flimsy and far too weak to work in a bikini top that ties at the back. The effect of this is that the cups and their contents are flattened and the halterneck ties end up somewhat under my arms which means they cannot give proper support. I was very disappointed with this top and so it will be returned to ASOS. I'm sure I would have fared better in a cup size smaller but it wouldn't solve the issues of poor construction and therefore would not support me properly or look flattering when worn. I really think this top needs to be redesigned with rigid wires and perhaps a clasp at the back. Pour Moi create other swimwear tops with a very similar design (such as the Cosmopolitan bikini) with a back clasp so why not try it with a model as popular as the Azure?
This bikini is gorgeous! I don't like tie backs because it's hard to tie them perfectly tight, but since I had to order a sister size, the tie back works in my favor. I usually wear a 30H-J so the cups were small on me, but not as small as I expected https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Since this is a bikini, I don't mind the lack of coverage like I would in a bra. I love the shape of the cups, they are the perfect depth for my full-on-top breasts. The cups are a little wide on me as they are for a 34 ...band.
The center gore is too wide for my extremely close-set breasts, so I will take it in and see how it looks. The back ties are positioned above the bottoms of the cups which is a strange design choice. Taking in the gore might make the ties position a little lower https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />. I can't tie the tie tight enough on my ribcage, so my breasts sort of slip under the band a bit, but I'm hoping that taking in the gore will make the underwire hold my breasts up easier. I will update my review after altering the gore. Overall, I would recommend this bikini because it's comfortable and comes in so many stunning colors! I have the cobalt blue top, but I am tempted to buy it in a few more colors.
Update: Taking in the gore made the gore too high and the wires too short on the sides, so side boob escaped. Took the stitches out. I put a clasp in the back to magically turn this top into a 30GG-ish bikini. Read more 206 more words
The cups are a bit small for me so I would suggest to go up a size. As G is the largest cup, I would have to get a 36G, probably. A larger band won't be a problem since it ties back so you can make it the size you want.
I agree with other reviews that the straps to tie the band are a bit short and hard to tie hard enough to hold the top up correctly. However, I really like this top so I just added a bikini clasp inside the band. The tie is now only for decoration and I get good support.
The material is shiny but doesn't look cheap. It's very pretty and the way the fabric folds is very nice. It gives a very nice cleavage without smooshing your boobs together and without looking vulgar.
Highly recommended if you can find your size and don't mind the tiny alteration.
I really like the look of this bikini top! Have been wearing it all summer. After reading reviews I ordered a cup size smaller and the same band size. Maybe I should have ordered my normal size, because it tends to give me quad boob effect after a while. The only negative about this is that there isn´t much support, but I just tighten the back through the day. I´d actually have a friend who bought it after seeing and trying mine, but she´d ordered her normal cup size.
