    So this bra was a great experiment, and I actually think the design has a lot of potential. The band and straps were very adjustable, and the gore is actually padded, which was really nice. The quality was largely great, but there were a few stray threads in the laser cut areas on the band. Because the bra is meant to be somewhat modular, it actually comes with an instruction card detailing how to put the bra on. At least in my case, this turned out to be helpful, because the general construction of the bra was not like any I’ve ever seen.

    In design, the Robin is ... a front clasp plunge bra with fairly wide-set cups, very tall wings, and a long underwire. I was concerned the cups would be very thick and padded, but they’re actually thin and comfortable. The elements that make it unique are located in three specific areas: The band, the straps, and the gore.

    Instead of traditional hooks, the band has tab adjusters on both sides with strips of velcro the can be adjusted to tight, medium, or loose, allowing the band to be set at a few different band sizes. The band by default comes with both sides set to the middle notch, which represents the band size on the label (in this case, a 32). The instructional card suggests putting the bra on without adjusting anything, and then once in the bra letting the band out to the loosest setting until the bra “softens from body heat” and presumably gets looser, at which point you can move the band back to the middle tightness setting.

    The straps are also adjustable, and the instructional card recommends getting fully situated in the bra and then adjusting the straps to the desired height. For some people this will likely help with quadding issues, though in my case it didn’t do much there, so I think I just have the wrong size. I really love that the straps can be adjusted from the front, and the aesthetic is really pretty as well. This element of the bra was a great idea, and I wish more bras allowed front-adjusting straps, it’s very convenient.

    The final design element they have attempted to revolutionize is the front clasp. The gore is thickly padded to prevent the clasp from pressing into the sternum, and there are two clasps: a large main clasp and a small clasp that they refer to as a ‘cleavage support’ clasp. The smaller clasp is optional, and they advise tucking it in to the side of the cup when not in use.

    There are also a few unusual elements that will potentially make the Robin a mismatch for a lot of people, including the very tall cups. The cups were also too shallow for me and cut in substantially, but I am sure sizing up will also make the overall surface area even greater than it already is. The underwire is also very long, and comes up high under the arms. The wings are quite tall. I would say if you’re someone who often finds tall wings or long underwires to be poky then this bra will probably amplify that issue for you.

      I was very intrigued by this! How is the Velcro band adjustment? Is it bulky under clothes?

    • confused The velcro band is actually pretty interesting! It’s one of those fancy new flat velcros, I’ve added a photo of the interior of one of the tabs so you can see. It basically functions by having a few strips of velcro with gaps in between to create the three ‘stops’. In practice I found it a little tricky to work with once it was on, but it definitely seemed like something that would get much easier with some practice.

      I thought the band would look bulky under clothes but it’s not especially noticeable when worn. This might be a function of its unusual shape. It’s shaped differently than other bands; you’re meant to pull the top layer on each side down so the sides are tapered like triangles. I’ve just uploaded a picture of the white paper tag where they have illustrations of the technique.

      The result of this is that the layers mostly don’t stack, and so aren’t super visible under straight-fit clothing, though I haven’t tried it with anything especially tight yet. If their marketing is to be believed, HerRoom does show a promotional photo of a woman in a fitted shirt wearing the Robin and it’s completely invisible under the shirt. I’ll test that out tomorrow and see if the hype is to be believed!

    • i would love to try one of those! but wow! r they cup measurements correct!? i wear a 32D and the cup depth is what most 32D's are in my experience?... but it's supposed to be 3 cup size larger? weird.... so sizing in that brand maybe off/run small???

    • hopeforthefuture So for some reason the sizing displays without a region on the public view from what I can see, but if I go into edit mode it displays correctly. The bra hses US sizing by default (32DDD/F) but also gives the UK size (32E) the EU size (though they use 32 instead of 70) and HerRoom’s proprietary’ ‘UCS’ which is theit ‘universal cup size’ system. When I tried to add the sizing to this bra originally it got very glitchy, but there are photos of the tag uploaded if you want to conpare. I would agree that the cup runs small, especially given that this is described as a ‘full coverage plunge’.

      The public displaying bra size was working yesterday as 32EUK and 32DDDUS yesterday and now looks all wonky, but when I go into edit mode it all looks correct. Anyone know how I can fix it?

      hopeforthefuture I also think the cups are the one part of the bra that isn’t modular, the band can supposedly change up to 3 sizes and the straps accommodate a bunch of heights, and there are 2 clasps so you can decide how you want the lines of the bra to be, but the cups always stay the same. I was confused by how wide the cups are when there isn’t that much depth to them, I’m curious how the bra scales. For example if I get the 32G will that work well or still be too shallow? Will the scaling up present other challenges like the width getting out of control? Hard to say. The price point is high enough that trying a bunch to find my size might be tricky, but I might try to do an exchange for a 32G and see how it goes.

    • From the limited reviews it looks like it might be on the shallow side, and may not word for center full ladies?? Tomima did not in a response to a review that it won’t work for every shape. I’m worried that the shallow plunge line will dig into my center fullness, and the coverage will be too much since I have short roots....

      confused That’s definitely reflective of my experience as well, unfortunately. The center above the gore is one of the shallowest areas of the cup on this bra, with the deepest area being lower and more to the outside. For some people, sizing up might help because the wider cup might move that shallow area of the bra inward so it’s not cutting sharply in, but it’s hard to say without knowing how big a difference there is between different sizes.

      I will say too that for people who are both center full and close-set, it’s less likely this bra would work well. The cups are center-shallow (and shallow overall) but also further apart, so it would work great for FOB wide-spaced or side-set but will be really tricky to work with for especially FOT and/or center-set people. I’m hopeful that there is a size that will work for me, but it’s looking likely that it’s a general shape mismatch for me.

    • Wow thanks for your review! This bra certainly is very different from anything out there. The idea of adjusting the band sounds really nice and I wonder how well this would hold up with multiple uses/adjustments throughout uses, like would it stretch too much, or keep the length, etc.

      What do you mean when you say it has two gore clasps? You can use one but not the other then? Do you actually notice more cleavage with the "cleavage clasp"? Like is it higher up? I guess I don't understand how it would work since I've never seen something like this! Do you feel it if you don't use it?

      The cup definitely seems very wide for size 32DDD US/32E UK. but very cool that it might work for shallow/wide shapes. I wonder how the scaling is too for the bigger sizes, like would it be super-duper wide or what.

      braluv Thanks for reading! Yes, the bra has two front clasps, I’ve just uploaded a new photo so you can see them in detail. The primary clasp is several inches tall and works fine on its own, then there is a much smaller one above it that pulls the cups slightly closer together. The smaller one is meant to create cleavage, but at least for me it just created more quadding and cutting in and didn’t really have the intended effect. I tried tucking it into the sides of the cups and didn’t really notice it, but I’m not sure if that would still be the case after hours of wear. I’m currently sending it back to try and exchange it for the next size, so hopefully I’ll have another to measure in a few weeks.
