Since I am 32C, I tried D70 for this bra. The cups are stiff and kind of pointy, so it sort of gives a bullet bra vibe which I don't love. It cuts into the breast tissue so the line isn't smooth against me, and there is also some empty space in the cups towards the center. Definitely wouldn't recommend this brand for shallow + wide shapes! I bought two other C75s from this brand and even those are kind of pointy and don't quite sit right against me (although the fit is definitely better)? The embellishment is pretty with a geometric crisscross design and flowers, but the only color I could get was a highlighter yellow color that sort of almost has a neon green going on. It's a lot... lol!

    • I was also surprised at how pointy and projected these bras are! In the pictures they look downright shallow and better for wide shapes. I was thinking of grabbing some in a smaller size next time I order from Shirohato (which admittedly could be like... a year from now) but it sounds like they might just not be a good fit for people with wide-set breasts. (I am center-full, so I can get away bras for close-set breasts often, but.... not always!!)

    • Yes! I had bought several based on thinking they looked like shallow + wide in the pictures and quite a few of the other ones are very pretty so I'm a bit disappointed. Hopefully other people who have different shapes and have tried out La Vie A Deux can weigh in, if they had a better experience! I bought two Mode Marie bras in C75 and those seem to fit quite snugly, so that might be one direction to consider if you haven't already tried! I also have a Contrante in D70 which was pretty decent (I haven't tried it on for a while though so I don't quite remember) and two Risa Magli bras in D70 which can work, with aggressive swooping and scooping, for me.

    • I'm def curious to try a Risa Magli. I think I will probably not try an L-shaped bra again, but the ones with gores seem like they could work for me. I hear a lot of good things about Mode Marie, the ones they have on Shiro don't appeal to me as much visually but I'm curious to try one!

I've heard the Wacoal Wing line is fitted to wider shapes compared to a lot of other JP bras, so that might also be one to try. Next time I order I might give one a go, esp if I can find one on sale.

    • I've seen bras advertised as having L-shaped underwires and even with pictures I'm still not sure what that means lol...but the two Risa Magli bras I got are the Reine パメラ (Reine Pamela is what Google translate says) and アシュリン (Ashlyn?) so maybe you can see if those look like they'll work or not! Luckily for me, I really like how Mode Marie bras look (especially the peony lace one that I have, but then again I'm a sucker for all things red, so...)
I'll have to keep an eye out for Wacoal Wing next time I do a Shirohato haul as well!

I THINK they're bras without gores, hence the "L-shaped" moniker. My Japanese skills are not super awesome, but based on cross-checking the tag and looking around I'm pretty sure that's what they mean.

Though not all L-shaped wires on Shirohato have their little badge advertising that, which is weird!

    • I took a look on Aimerfeel and your description makes sense to me! Definitely looks like something I wouldn't prefer, so thanks for the heads up lol

About me: Shallow, tall and narrow-average roots, even vertical fullness, close-set but extremely outer full.

This bra does not exactly fit me as such. It is a little narrow (though still comfortable) and I suspect it's a little center-full and projected for me, making it gap in the middle, a problem that the cookies (which are pillow-soft compared to American ones) do fortunately help with. BUT IT'S SO PRETTY that I can't be mad. The flower petal design is absolutely stunning. And it makes my boobs look great, haha.

The band is extremely stretchy; it didn't feel especially loose on me (~27" UB) but I was more comfortable on a tighter hook anyway. As such, this would work even better for a 28C-D/30B-C with some more inner fullness and a narrower overall profile. The cups are seamed, but with a decent amount of lining.

Of the 6 Japanese bras I bought and chose to keep on my most recent size change, oh, Embellir--you are the problem child.

This bra was on Shirohato's site for 85% off, marked down to 500 yen, which was such a steal on such a cute bra I could not say no. Getting the thing and trying it on, I can see why--there's no gore on this bra, which isn't necessarily a problem by itself, but unlike the other similarly constructed La Vie A Deux bra I got--Infiorare--there's no extra side-support versus a regular JP bra, and the side slings stop at the top of the cup instead of ... going through and behind it. That means you don't have that side support to make up for the loss of gore. On top of all that, the slings that jut out at the top lengthen the straps by almost an extra third next to my other JP bras. Ironically, this is probably the true actual biggest structural flaw in the bra--they don't hold the cups in place on my torso, so cup on my smaller breast just kind of... wants to flop over.

That said, the story has a fairly happy ending; I grabbed a racerback clip for this bra, and because of the design of the top of the straps--two narrower straps connected through a clip to the adjuster on the back, rather than one thick one--you can actually slide two straps through the clip and leave the other two "normal" on your shoulders. This totally fixes the fit of the bra for me and turns it from "barely better than a boob hat" to "an actually supportive bra," plus gives it quite an attractive cross-cross shape on the back. Very happy to say so, as it's very cute outside of it's design flaws!
