It's a beauty. It's the Mary Poppins of my bra-drobe - "Practically perfect in every way". Extremely comfortable. The very light padding on the cups lets it mold more closely to your natural contours, while creating a softly rounded & uplifted shape. The lace at the tops of the cups initially sat up and out a bit, but with time it's flattened nicely and conforms to the cup. It's a dream for my sensitive, FOT boobs. Cups are a bit too separated for me, though not nearly as bad as other Curvy Kate models I tried in 2015 (when I bought this bra) (I understand ...the now discontinued Flirtelle was an offshoot of CK) (I wonder - if I took in the gore, gathering me boobs closer to each other, would it make the tops of the cups a bit more closed?)
Too bad the band really stretches out from a loose 30-32 to a closer to a 32 + within a week or so. I bought this in a 30HH & 30 J and both bands did this. So I would say this fits more like a UK 32HH.
For me, I would need a 28K - one band size down, one cup size up, to correct the band and to stop spilling over & out of the tops of the cups all day. Alas. So close, yet so far.
Still, it gives a beautiful, rounded shape with plenty of *comfortable* support WITHOUT miserable wires and painful straps and pokey gores. If your boobs are FOT, this bra is a dream. The only other bra I've had that fit this perfectly was Freya30H - Freya » Marvel Side Panel Bra (1501) from way back in the day. I plan to eventually list this when I fit something my size that's comfortable.
If anyone has an old 30JJ or 28K (if they made those) Ellie Padded Bra (FL6411) or knows of a bra that fits like this one, please do share! The Bratabase comparison tool gave me a couple of Curvy Kates padded balconettes & 1 Ewa Michalak Pl, so those are my next tries. Read more 260 more words
I find this bra very comfortable. I prefer a wide cup for my boobs as I think they are wide, although this bra has a bit of wrinkling/emptiness at the top of the sides. This tends to happen on bras that are otherwise a good cup width for me. If the bra was narrower on the cups, I imagine it would put my boobs together more, creating overspill at the front. The cups do seem a little big for me, so perhaps if I go down a back size to a 36, the cups will seem a better fit. However they feel very supportive and I'd much prefer ...these cups to cups too small.
The back size is big. I'm usually a 36, sometimes 38, but this is quite loose, so worth going down a back size. The band feels comfortable and is soft enough otherwise. The back looks quite stretchy so I'm not sure it would last too long until it loses elasticity.
The quality and looks seems ok. The inner cups are soft to the touch and thinly padded with a sort of thin foam. The straps feel comfortable and smooth. It looks slightly dowdy, but the lace top of the cups distracts from that. Perhaps the black version would look a little prettier. It looks good under clothes. Considering the lace cups I expected it to show a fair bit under clothes, but I can actually honestly say this is my favourite bra for under clothes. No overspill, no low cup topline showing too much wobbly boob, no overturned or thick top of the cup showing. Yes there's the lace, but this is very thin and delicate and curves towards the chest. It looks thicker on the pictures but is very thin lace.
Overall I'm very pleased with the look, feel and comfort of this bra and can't wait to try it in a different size. Quality I'll edit after a month or so of wear. It's a keeper though. Read more 222 more words
I've heard Flirtelle is made by Curvy Kate and this bra looked to be the same cut as my beloved Arizona so I decided to give it a try. Since I found the the band to loosen quickly on my 34HH Arizona I went with 32J for this bra. The bra is the same cut and the band materials look to be the same. It did loosen quickly but the wire under my right breast can be uncomfortable sometimes. That is a problem area for me for I have pain there sometimes so for me I'll stick with 34's in the future. For others you might want to ...size down a band especially if you are in between bands. The padding on this is a nice soft padding the same as Arizona. I also have the CK Daily Dream and that padding is stiffer. I much prefer the softer padding of this bra as it provides a rounder shape and molds to the breast better. The lace at the top of the cup sticks out a little but it is very soft so it lays flat under clothes. I'm not crazy about the look of the lace at the top of the cup. However the bra does give a nice shape under clothes so thats more important. I'm very impressed with my first experience with Flirtelle. I'd say the sizing is consistent with Curvy Kate. These bras are so affordable too even with shipping to the US. I've actually just ordered 3 more Flirtelle padded styles (34HH) that just came out for a great price. The colors and style are more to my liking too. I'm so glad to finally have padded bra options. Read more 180 more words
Bought this in a 30H first, the larger of my go-to sizes of 30GG and 30H, based on my experience with Flirtelle often running small. This model definitely runs small as I needed a 30HH and perhaps I even could get away with a 30J? Pleased with the fit of the 30HH though - not cutting in (FOT friendly), band is nice and snug, straps are not ridiculously wide set. Underwires are a bit wide but don't bother me. Slight orange in a glass - apparently I keep needing more projection :/ The fit under clothing is fine and I do wear this bra a lot.
Anyway, I also have this in purple, see my review on that one too: same size 30HH and while both fit, the purple has MUCH taller cups than this black Ellie. With the scalloped pointy bits on the top of the cups, this means the purple sometimes peeps out from under clothing. All in all I prefer the fit of the black!
Lovely bra, I've been wearing the black a lot. Initially ordered a 30H (also black) but apparently it runs small. Then re bought the same bra in 30HH which fit well. Because I liked it I got the same size 30HH in purple - same brand, model, everything - but this had much taller cups! Difference is quite big (see pictures).
Both bras fit, but I prefer the less full coverage look of the black Ellie. The purple gives me some armpit chafing, too. So for people considering to buy this; keep in mind the black cups are lower than the purple!
About the type of bra or what breasts it would suit - I'm happy the cups are pretty open on top - no cutting in. Good for FOT or even fullness I would say. Wires are perhaps a bit wider than I need, but not uncomfortably so.
Appearance and Construction: The construction seems passable. The bra is made from a smooth polyamide, nylon mesh which stretches over the thinly padded cups in the front. The inside is a contoured, lightly-seamed foam that is not uncomfortable.
The underwires are thin and are medium width- not "U" shaped, but not wide, either. Both the band and wires have give that allows them to stretch under moderate force.
The straps are made of shiny, ruched elastic with a satin weave and are quite stretchy. The width of the straps is very thin. Each strap has a single, narrow slider which is difficult to adjust. The closure has 3 ...columns with 3 eyes each.
Fitting: The band was much too small for me and I was unable to complete the closure. Despite the amount of stretch, I feel that an extender would not make a substantial difference in the fit. Because the cup depth is shallow, it does not allow my projected breast shape enough room, and I spill out over the top of the cups. While the gore is thin, my breasts are closely set and it does not separate them adequately enough. The thin straps are quite wide set, and press into the furthest reaches of my (narrow) shoulders.
I feel like different sizing would be appropriate. I will be returning this bra. Read more 111 more words
