It's been a while since my last review... I think I am finally sorted with my depression. For past few months I bought large amount of new bras, and most of them turned out to be somehow wrong for me. I became more sensitive to pain, so had to get rid of some of my loved Ewa or Comexim bras as I can't stand their straps, painful wires or too tight bands. I am looking for small reason to get rid of some of my bras as my collection is simply too large !! (yes I said that loud - I HAVE TOO MANY BRAS! but the new ...collections are becoming prettier and prettier..) . I am trying to sell what I can and replace with new, more comfortable ones, which is not easy task. However, those bras that fit me, I can't express how happy I am! and one of such bras is Amore Mio... Some time ago I bought Sugar Plum, that ended up being sold - too loose band, too large cups (even if i bought it in my usual soft comexim size 70F) and too long straps. I wasn't very much dissapointed as the colour did not make me to fall in love with it. But when I saw Amore Mio, I called comexim to ask if its possible to shorten the straps. And here we are! I have my loved Amore Mio (jeez, I love that name!) I ordered this bra in two sizes (just in case of loose band and that usually sizing down in band makes bra overall little smaller) in 70E and 65G. While 65G have better width of the cup, the band is too tight for me (by half size). 70E offers me comfortable band - such a shame that is made of one layer of fabric, as double layer results in longer life, but definietly the lace is good quality. Cup width. And this is the only place where I have 'problem'. I have narrow roots but this wires are like by 0.5-0.75cm too narrow for me, they gently sit on my skin - thankfully theres no pain or whatsoever, so Im not really bother with this issue. Comexim wires are flexible, which makes them more comfortable. Straps placement is great for my narrow shoulders. Theres no discomfort and red skin caused by too far placed straps as I usually get in most brands (being petite sucks sometimes). Also as I mentioned above, I requested shorter straps so the support is better. Cups are made of same fabric as the band. This fabric is kind of stretchy and does not offer as great support as other soft comexims but is not bad also. I am happy with support provided by this bra. Usually I take 70G in padded with modification of added cookie pockets, and when taking soft I go for 70F (which recently became inconsistent - Bridget is size too small, Sharon half size too small, Sugar Plum was too large, Karen is too large - really is only 50% I'll get it right...). I got matching undies in size M and actually could go down to size S! The set looks sexy and is one of my favourite ones at the moment! I sent an email to comexim asking if they're going have more colours of this beauty... i really hope so!!
To start with a disclaimer, when I ordered this bra Joanna has warned me that it is designed to go up to size 80H, and beyond this size she cannot guarantee that the bra will be supportive enough. However, I'm very happy I ordered it regardless of this!
First off, the construction - The bra is a two-part cup with the cup continuing as a strap until above the shoulder. The strap is half adjustable, it has little stretch, and it continues on the band until the hooks and eyes. The cup is made of 2-way stretch lace, and the outer half of the cup is doubled with ...a thin layer of stretch beige fabric. The band is made of one layer of the same lace fabric, but it is true to size and moderately stretchy. I ordered it with the alteration wing height 11cm, which must have been done, since both the wing and the gore are very low.
I was at first surprised to see the bra categorised as a bralette, but after trying it on, this category makes a lot of sense. Unlike the other unlined Comexisms which I've tried (3-part half cups), this bra provides less lift and doesn't bring everything front and center. However, the bra is comfortable, very lightweight and provides a natural minimized rounded shape, so that's a success for me. Read more 120 more words
This review was written in October 2017 when bra first received & may not be completely accurate at this time.
Amore Mio is an underwired bralette that is unlined, and done in a gorgeous black lace. The outer lower section of the cup is lined with a thin sheer material for a bit of extra support. The center gore has a gold heart with “love you” engraved in it repeatedly. It is very pretty. It was not recommended that I get this one in a 60P, as Comexim didn’t feel that it would be supportive enough in that cup and band combination, but they ...were willing to do it at my own risk. Please factor this in with regards to fit and support within this review.
The band measures 22.75” to a max of 29.75”. This seems to be a common theme for their lacy banded bralettes, so keep that in mind when ordering. I ordered this one with an extra set of eye loops, so mine came with 3 hooks and 4 rows of eyes though it would usually come with 3 rows of eyes. The band sits a bit lower beneath the cups and is flat instead of curved at the gore. This feature does add extra support and comfort to the band.
Cup Depth as measured by: 1 Hovering the cup between the knees, then placing the tape measure into the cups without any resistance. This measurement is: 12”
2 Placing the cup over the knee and stretching it similar to what a breast would, to the maximum resistance. This measurement is: 15.25”
I feel these two figures give you a general idea of the minimum and maximum depth that the cup can accommodate, just like the flat and stretched band measurements do with bands. Since Bratabase only has one cup field, I enter the larger of the two, as it’s this larger number that determines if a cup is going to fit me or not since I am on the max end of the cup scale, but do realize that some may need the lower number to determine fit for their needs, so I will always include both figures in the reviews for full disclosure.
I could have stretched the cups more but didn’t want to push it since its only lace. The height at the center of the cup is 9.25” so it provides a lot of “sexy” coverage. I requested the lace to be lowered by 8cm at the strap so that it ended before my shoulders, but instead they end on top of my shoulders, 6cm shorter than my Vogue Purple, which is disappointing but still better than Vogue Purple. (Yes, I do realize it wouldn’t really be a bralette if it ended before my shoulders……)
The straps were requested to be moved in 2.5cm, though based on where they sit in my armpit, I do not believe they were moved in at all. In fact, they are set exactly 2cm further out than my 60P Vogue Purple, which I had ordered to be moved in 2cm. The plus, this confirmed the Vogue Purple straps were moved in!
The center gore is set wide at 0.7” with a height of 4.625” to the bottom of the flat band. I requested the center gore wires to be overlapped and the center gore height to be reduced by 2cm. At the given measurements, this was clearly not done. When I lay this one over my Vogue Purple at 60P, the wires and gore sit at the same height placement. The wing is 5.9” tall & the wires are 6.15” from top to top which is the second common wire that I get with my Comexim bras. I prefer the 6” wires, but the 6.15” is still doable for me. Since I requested the center gore wires to overlap, I was a bit surprised to see that they just barely overlapped at the tip instead of having them completely overlapped like I’ve gotten in the past as a standard feature.
The quality seems very nice with no notable imperfections aside from the customizations being incomplete.
Customizations requested vs. received: Overlapped center gore wires - Request not done Straps moved in 2.5cm – Request not done Additional set of eyes – Received as requested Lowered center gore 2cm if possible - Request not done Lower lace at shoulder by 8cm to end before shoulders – Lower lace at shoulder by 6cm to end on top of my shoulders
As for fit, the cups are a bit big, or at least looser at the start of incline around the armpit due to the wide set straps and extra lace. It is still wearable and the actual part the holds my breasts fit fine, it’s just that extra upper lace that is an issue. Also, the lace pattern is wide spaced which means it’s not gentle on sensitive erect nipples. If you don’t have sensitive nipples this won’t be an issue, or if your lace placement puts your nipples at the darker area of the lace you’ll be fine. The band is a bit big as well, but I can wear it comfortably on the tightest hooks. Since the center gore wasn’t overlapped as requested, the gore is too wide and does sit with one wire on my breast tissue. If you compare the outer side of the cup/strap curvature to that of Purple Love pictures, you’ll see the difference that moving the straps in 2.5cm makes.
Overall, I am a bit disappointed that my customizations were not completely honored. I’m not sure if it was just because they were busy, if it was a language barrier issue, or if they didn’t want to do them (ie if they felt it would take away from the support.) I wish if that was the case that they would have brought it to my attention beforehand. Since I had received an email regarding this specific bra, I assumed all would be done as requested, as their only concern was the cup size not being advisable in this soft cup. Of the four bras I ordered this time, none of them were done as requested. While this isn’t a deal breaker for my love of Comexim, and I won’t complain to them directly about it, I am alas disappointed.
Updated views June 2018. This is one of the few Comexim bras that I still own and wear, as I got rid of most of them. I do get quadding in this one now due to new growth since October last year, but not enough to make it unwearable, just requires really loose straps to stop the dig in pain. This is one of my tender day bras, but I honestly I’ve only worn it 1 in the last 3 months (today to be exact!)
