For this reason, I think the cups were a little small - I had some excess tissue coming from the armpit area. There's no underwire and it closes in the back with a J hook. The straps are not adjustable and cross in the back. This is a great medium-to-high impact bra and find that some of the colorways available are also quite fashionable.
