The Lydia bra is a bandless style designed for a petite silhouette and fuller bust with shorter wires and centre pull straps for narrow shoulders. So it says on Elomis website. While I'm not petite, I do have a fuller bust and narrow shoulders, so I was curious to try this new style.

My shape: tall, narrow to average wide roots, full on top, projected, center heavy

The bra is a basic, everyday style but I love that they added the cut out detail and the charm at the gore to style it up. It looks and feels high quality.

While my usual size is 32J/JJ in Elomi, I couldn't find this style on my online retailer in any 32 bands so I went with the sister size. Apparently this bra comes in 32 bands which I learned here.

The 34HH is a bit large for me in band but it's true to size. The cups are rather deep and wide. They are not super tall like other Elomi styles (Full cups ) but still I wouldn't call them short. The straps are more centred which is nice if you have sloping shoulders like me. The top of the cup features stretchy lace but it is lined with mesh. The wires are more soft and they stretch with wear. They are too wide and soft for me and there is empty fabric on the sides. The cup edge does cut in a bit, but I would not try a size up as the bra is already too wide in this size.

I think in general this bra is a big shape mismatch and would be better for someone with a more full on bottom shape. I don't get much uplift either and my boobs are kinda pushed down by the top section. It's similar in look on me like Bravissimo Melrose (another fot-unfriendly bra) or Elomi Caitlyn. While I know most Elomi bras are made for a more fob shape - I think their banded plunges like Matilda and Charley can work if you find the right size (for me it means sizing up and tighten the band and straps more) but the Elomi full cups / bandless bras are too much of a shape mismatch for my shape.

This bra is not owned any more

  • I see what you mean about the cup construction, but I also notice those wires are sooo mind-blowingly wide on you! Do you think this may contribute to the shape mismatch? As someone who is very center full, I find that if too much of the underwire is wrapping round the side of my body, it affects the orientation of the cup but in a design with pretty full coverage it also does strange things to the shape of the cup since it does not allow the wire to brace itself against the front of my body to give a better boost from below, if that makes sense.

  • wendybien Yes I understand what you mean. Since this bra has the older more flexible Elomi wires the shape of the cup gets changed once the bra is on wires get wider and wrap around my body. I even think the bra would fit if the wires were narrower. I get slight overspill but cup depth is 38cm which is just what I need. So there is a lot of room on the side unused but the front center part is "shallowed" (is this a word).
While I can make some wider wired bras "work" for me - this style is just impossible. I think to make it work, it would need more stable wires that don't distort too much and be more open on top.

  • yes that makes sense alisa ... ah those older-generation flexible wires that wrap around to the back of beyond... the side photos actually took me right back to every full bust blogger's pics of Eveden bras circa 2014...

  • wendybien Newer elomi styles got better like the Plunge cut Matilda and Charley - the wires are still wide but much more sturdy and distort less with wear. Freya has not changed their design everything still looks like back in dark ages of bra fitting. Fantasie has improved a little bit as newer side support bras are a bit less wide. That's also why back in the day I sticked to Panache, their wires were wide too but less flexible.

  • oh yes I am always so impressed with the Elomis designed in the past 4 years or so!
