Bralettes

I was wondering what everyone's opinions of bralettes are?
Personally, I love the look of them, but I like a bra/top/whatever to alter my shape to be not so.. downward > >
I dislike having tall, shallow roots and low, random protruding boobs, and would honestly much prefer to have no boobs at all. So to obtain a shallower look, the only bralettes that work for me need to be "small" and have stretchy fabric, or at least vertical seams.
Stretchy/compression-ish fabrics or vertical seams push the tissue down and I don't mind that look.
It's actually a nice change.

I'm mostly looking into bralettes right now because I'm going to be working 10 hour days and my back and wires hurt me working a few hours less than that.

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I WOULD do better with a 32 band. Unfortunately, VS Body and Aerie Sunnie bras were the most comfortable, but their cups are too far apart in 32D and about 0.3-0.5" too small. 32DD is too wide.

My measurements are still the same, and my ribcage isn't very bony at all, but all of my bands and wires are just killing me atm.
I sort of feel like the wire issue is attributed to the fact that a bra with my ideal cup depth and wire width simply doesn't exist. The wires always end up under my armpit no matter what, and that's exactly where the pain is.
My most comfortable wired bras right now are my 70D EM Ch Lawenda, and my remaining Comexims. .and a taller stretch lace bralette from Aerie...and a sequin-y one.

I picked up 2 more bralettes from Forever 21. I was considering altering the bands somehow because with the straps how I need them, they're going to ride up (which equals sagging throughout the day). They weren't expensive, and worth a try I guess, but idk.
I hate trying new things.

If it weren't for my shape I would just wear bralettes from now on. I don't feel like it's doing any harm, and I can't feel the weight of my.boobs in any thick or compression-y fabrics.
I'm just sad because now I have all these great bras and I'm no longer feeling comfortable in many of them. And bralettes are cute and I usually have no issues with the simplified shape (draping fabric over my boobs and adding a band > weird ass, tall, shallow/projected in all wrong places Deco-I'm looking at you).

Does anyone know where to get really nice bralettes?
I tried loads on at Aerie today, and their new (super gorgeous) lace ones completely leave me hanging and my roots just ruin the look for me. But it seems like their new fabrics are too loose, yet when I size down to a small, there isn't enough cup. -_-
I think they're trying to make half-cups, with non-adjustable straps, and that just doesn't work for me.

Also, has anyone tried making their own?
I've been interested in making my own bras for a while, but I'd imagine bralettes would be much easier.

  • Never wore bralets, but I wore decent exposure bras for years. not cheap, but a lot comfier than wires. I wore them down a cup size or two, and in lycra, so they were more compressiony

  • There's around a billion places on Etsy that will make bralettes to your measurements. The Lingerie Addict has lots of reviews of them if you're interested. It would probably take longer than buying at a store, but might be better fitting or just more interesting.
