Center Gore never flat?

The center gore on my bras NEVER lay flat. If I push it flat with my hand then the cups become too small, but, if I go up in cup size then the cups are too big (and I think it still doesn't lay flat?). Does anyone know why this is?

  • I'm not sure what brands/sizes and what your measurements are, but this sounds to me like two things are happening:

1.) The band is too big
    2.) You aren't scooping/swooping

It's hard to tell if you're in the correct cupsize if your band is too big. (But scooping and swooping would make a poor fit more obvious, so give that a try.)

Think of it this way: for example, say you needed a 30D, but were wearing a 32B. (32C has the same cup volume as a 30D.) Your measurements would be 30" underbust and 34" overbust. A 32B is made for someone with a 32" underbust and a 34" overbust, so it would technically fit your overbust, but the gore would float because the band is made for someone 2" wider than you. If you tried a 32C, made for 32" underbust and 35" overbust, suddenly the cup would seem too big because your overbust is only 34", even though technically the 32C is the correct cup size.

    Hope that helped a bit!

  • How close are your boobs to each other? I have splayed boobs and the gore is seldom narrow enough. I either have a pushed out gore or wires partly on breast fat.

I can also be the bra is too shallow for you in the center if you're center heavy.
