Just pinned my @Victoria's Secret bra with the way-too-big-band so that it's four inches less in the band. It fits WAAAAAAY better, already feels so much more supported! Now i just need to stitch/glue/make it permanent in some way.

If it's a 36 D and I took off 4 inches from the band does that make it an equivalent to a 32 E or DDD?

Band sizes usually differ 2 inches from size to size, so taking off 4 inches would suggest that you made it 2 band sizes smaller. Using sister sizing that would make your previous 36D a 32E :) (UK sizing) A 32E in UK sizing is the equivalent of a US 32DDD.

Anyway, here's a tutorial on how to permanently shorten the band! http://dressingcurves.blogspot.se/2011/10/alterations-reduce-band-width.html

  • I'd just like to add that it would be best to check the stretched/unstretched measurements against other bras, because it all depends on the stretch. It's possible that you could have turned it into a 30F too! (although a 32E is more likely.) :)
