bras and dresses
Out of curiosity, when you have a special occasion do you buy the dress (or top) first and then find a bra to accommodate, or the other way around? For my MA graduation, I bought the dress and then had the neckline altered to fit my strapless bra. I feel as though I will be doing the same for my wedding dress.

This question makes my head explode. It takes me months to find a dress or top that fits, is the right color/style/size etc. It takes me months to find a bra that works. At all. I think this is why they make those shapeless gowns for graduation! I find whichever I can find, and hope for the best.
Congrats on the MA! And the wedding!
For me, it really depends. The first time I bought a bra specifically for a dress was in middle school for our sort-of "prom" thing. At that point, I was mostly wearing granny-style bras with super thick straps, so I couldn't wear a sleeveless dress (not a strapless one, or even spaghetti straps- just straps maybe 1.5 inches wide) without getting a new bra for it!
I got my first strapless bra... I think for the dress I wore to my cousin's wedding?
And when I got hitched, I ended up buying my wedding dress for about 70 pounds on Etsy, and then spending a small fortune on a bustier and tailoring for said bustier. I didn't want to buy something online but the only store I really had access to had only 34+ bands and no cups beyond the multiple-D's. I had to get a 36DDD and have them tailor in the band. They refused to tighten it enough, though, because I "wouldn't want to have back fat on my wedding day." In retrospect I really shouldn't have let them convince me of what I wanted on my wedding day O_o But mainly I just wanted minimal fuss!
That's all the dresses I've ever intentionally bought bras to accommodate, I believe.
