i'd say a classic pea coat works in both of those seasons and then the color i'd say a yellowish one would also work for both seasons :) as for one to buy, i'm at a loss as i find mine usually in free boxes around town, lol :) good luck. :)
I love trench coats for light weather. I've got 2 tan (1 basic with removable lining and one with full skirt and peter pan collar), a green with bell sleeves, a white, and just ordered a pale pink from kohls! (Comes in black too) You could try resale shops or places like Marshall's/TJMaxx. Something with a belt is more likely to fit both boobs and waist
