Just got my parcel from Figleaves. Curvy Kate smoothie (30F) in Wild Blush and Curvy Kate Portia (30E) in lime. Neither fit me. I will say though, the width of the underwires were no issue this time (I'm the queen of "too wide underwires"). I would not recommend the Smoothie for people who consistently have issues with too wide-set straps, it is a rather rigid fabric and it WILL hurt you. I just tried it on briefly and I can feel it pulsing in my armpit area now because of the chafing. Full on top ladies... It *might* work if you don't generally have issues with straps being too wide-set for you (I always have), maybe. Because if so. The cup will be distributed differently on your body, the way it's supposed to. I get a lot of cup near my armpits and therefore, I get to fit my boobs in what's left in a way that it was never intended. The apex is situated rather high in this bra, and it's rather shallow right at the beginning, in the bottom. I don't know who's BEST suited to the updated smoothie but it is certainly not the narrow-shouldered, full on top lady.

The Portia. A better shape than the cup up I tried first, but ultimately, I was not happy with it. My only issue with the underwire is that it came up too short for me, or maybe it was the wings that bothered me... I felt like I needed more stability across the back. I'll upload pictures and measurements of them both shortly. Maybe I should just give up on bras altogether? My armpits still hurt, ouch...

PS. I am not crisp-white nor just... "not very pale white", I am very fair but not quite vampire-ish, and I feel like the color will suit a broad range of white-ish skin colors. It was definitely more tan than me but when I tried it on under my thinnest, stretchy tank top it didn't show through at all, not even the subtle pattern. Great choice of color! It will suit women with my skin color and all the way up to a quite tanned body, but not very tanned skin. DS.

  • Interesting! Thanks for sharing.

  • I must say... I judged the Smoothie too quickly. It bubbled over at first try, but I think I tightened the straps too much, because they're just fine loosened a little bit more than that. I can see a slight hint of overspill, but it's hardly noticeable and it doesn't feel uncomfortable. If I tug at the cup just next to where the straps are now, I get a different lift, and that pretty much eliminates the hint of overspill completely. I'd be completely happy with this bra in terms of comfort if I move the straps in a little, it'd eliminate the chafing in my armpits too. I think this is a keeper. The only thing I don't like is that the band digs in, and it would no matter what size I'd be because even at my skinniest, no back fat at all virtually, the bands have done this in full bust bras. It's a matter of uneven band tension, like always. I wish bra companies would rectify this issue. This bra is no worse than others in this aspect.
