Ah Nordstrom. I love you. Except for your alterations woman at the store in Troy, MI. She has to go. Bit of a rant here, and wall of text. Sorry! Anyway, a few weeks ago I ordered the Deco Cobalt in a 32G because 30GG was sold out and that is my sister size. I figure since Nordstrom does free alterations (up to $100) with your Nordstrom card, that I couldn't lose. I was wrong. First of all, I never got the letter telling me that they were no longer covered, but that we'd be given Nordstrom Notes instead. Well, now I'm out the cost of the bra AND alterations ($15) for a crappy job. The woman in alterations had NO idea what she was doing.

She clearly has never once altered a bra in her life. She should have been honest about that to begin with, but she chose to take it on and do it as poorly as possible. She just folded some of the fabric and made some seams. Something my mother (daughter of a seamstress but who is not a pro) could have easily done for free. So not only did she not know what she is doing, she really did not want to listen to me. I am currently hovering around a 29" underbust. However, I am a bit fleshy there, I just prefer a tighter band because it gives better support. When I put on the 32, I could easily put it on the tightest hook and pull it a fair bit away from my body. Despite me showing her this and explaining that it IS too big, she said "It's too tight!" Sorry, no. I have just shown you why it is too big, and you clearly have no understanding of bra fit. It's my own fault really. I should have walked away with my bra instead of leaving it with her. Now I'll be taking it with me to customer service and making a complaint.

There is NO way I'm paying $15 for this hack job, especially since I'm going to have to have it done again. I plan to take it with me when I accompany my husband to Chicago soon. We used to live there and I know from experience that their alterations people know bra fit and how to properly take them in. Last time I had a bra altered, I showed her how it didn't fit and she pinned it right away, then had me try it on again. I said I wanted it a little bit tighter and she happily obliged, pinning it yet again for me to try on. That time it was perfect. And she didn't just fold it, she actually took it apart and sewed it back together to be the size I need. I am complaining mostly because I am NOT paying another $15 for this bra to be properly fixed. I would happily pay the Chicago seamstress $15, but the woman in Troy should not get anything over $5 for the cheap job she did. I am so disappointed. Mostly with myself for not leaving immediately with my bra in hand. Instead I decided maybe I was overreacting and that she'd do it right.

My mom also gave her the benefit of the doubt, then agreed with me it still is too loose and I need to take it to Chicago. Oh well. Lesson learned. But they are crazy if they think I'm paying $15 for this! Thankfully their customer service folks are usually pretty awesome, so I don't really anticipate trouble. And honestly, if she gets in trouble over it, well, fine. I won't feel bad because she could've easily been honest and said she'd never done it before and made the suggestion that I go elsewhere. A small part of me actually hopes she gets in trouble for it, because it's part of her job and she absolutely should know how to do that kind of alteration properly.

Sorry for the rant and wall of text! Feels good to get that off my chest. Bahaha.
