Boob changes and bra shopping

So my breasts have changed somehow. They have changed in shape and are a wee bit smaller. Most of it is a loss of upper fullness, and I think they're softer and the crease on the side is getting clearer. I lost 5 kg/11 lb in June - August and my guess is that they have settled in a new shape now (my weight settled in October). Perhaps.

Anyway, it's time to look for different bras. Not new sizes, new models all together. This makes me wonder how to shop for bras. It seems like one bra for every day of the week would be a good goal. But if boobs change shape very often, then it seems both time consuming and expensive to get that many. How do you handle this? How long do you expect keep a bra? Sorry if this is a vague question.

  • My bra wardrobe is in constant turnover, especially since I've been losing a tiny bit of weight and a little more in dimensions lately. It has been averaging one new one in and one old one out every 2 weeks or so. (IN are purchased new/used for cheap until I'm sure of style-fit and OUT are sold or given away.)

The bras I use right now are all less than a year in my possession, majority less than 6 months.

I keep a range of sizes to accommodate fluctuations. The sizes at the top and bottom have shifted down, but the ones in the middle fit the best. I'm hoping they'll eventually be the "big" size and then I can shop in Chantelle and typical Nordstrom-range sizes soon. So much easier being able to try things on in person.

I gave away a bunch of bras around the new year and am in the process of getting pics of the ones that I need to sell so I can continue the churning.

  • I like your in/out approach. I should probably focus more on making sure that the bras I buy get used.

(I got stuck on that when I looked into donating bras locally to women in need. It was too complicated. It's easy to donate them to be sold, but I don't think that's the best use of them. But I could sell/give them away online so they at least have a chance of being used.)

Thanks for mentioning those numbers! It makes me feel better about my own rate, which is about the same as yours. In 8 months I've accumulated 13 bras. I've held on to a few that I've never been able to use, and eventually I should be able to pass those on.

I'm frustrated by the delay in all this. By the time the bras arrive the boobs, or my understanding of them, may have changed completely. When I find a good bra I'm tempted to buy a million of that one and be done, but it doesn't seem to work that way.
