Helping my Mom!

My mom is a Victoria Secrets fan and won't wear anything else. She ordered the wrong size so I took it as an opportunity to get her in a more correct size. Still waiting to find out if they fit good but anything is better then a too small cup with a too big band.

  • Sorry, I know that's not what you meant, but I hate that mindset. Too small band and too big cup is bad. Too big band too small cup is bad. Bad fit is bad. Can we all agree on this? It's that mindset that kept me from the right size for a year in my search for a good bra.

I don't know if there's much you can do if you mom outright refuses to wear anything but VS. VS makes bras that only look as they're marketed when they're they incorrect size on almost anyone (for example, if you correct for band and cup width, you'll end up with a cup that gapes too much). Furthermore, they don't make very many sizes. I would if you can, try something that's in the style of VS but which comes in a wide range of sizes (like the CHP Famme Fatale or something that she would normally buy).

  • I hope that your mum is open to trying different bra sizes, and you can get something which is a good size and shape for her. :) At the end of the day, it's up to her what she wants to wear, but it's very thoughtful of you to help her out picking some new bras.

Another popular 'like VS but actually in more sizes' bra is the Freya Deco plunge (which works best on fuller on top and some shallow shapes), and goes up to a GG cup (though Freya should get their act together and make it in sister size volumes like Polish brands and the CK Showgirl range). It's lightly padded and moulded, and comes in basic and some more adventurous colours. Even if you guys figure out that this isn't the best shape fit for her, it's a good way to ease someone into full bust brands after being used to a plethora of padded plunges.
