AHHHHH.... BRA FITTING. THE LAND OF OLD WIVES TALES AND ILLOGICAL REASONING.

So I have been trying to find a youtube video on how to measure your bust for a friend. What I don't understand is, in today's day and age where women are so well educated and we have access to so much knowledge why video after video shows the most stupid, ridiculous and nonsensical ways to measure your bust.
Yes I mean NONSENSICAL!!!

Then, to top it off, you have people arguing over, do you add 4 cm to the band measurement or 5 cm. Seriously, what on earth.

Do a quick youtube search and you will find professional bra fitters and lingerie store owners by the 100's showing you ridiculous methods of measuring your bust.

Really, it's not rocket science. If you want to get a starting place for a band... here's a thought. Measure where the band sits. Read what it says. DONE!

How can such intelligent well dressed individuals be preaching such gobbldygook (pointless nonsense). Think about it. Imagine if you went to get measured for a pair of pants, got measured and then told to add 5 Inches to the waist. We'd all be pant less.

I really wish all those videos could be taken off the net or someone could set up a name and shame website where incorrect videos could be posted and discredited. No, not to be nasty but just to get women to wake up and think about what they are saying.

Stop and think...

1. Why am I teaching that?
2. Does it make sense?

  • Early in my proper fitting bra searching days, I watched such a Youtube video and commented that adding 4 or 5 was silly and she could get a better fit without doing so. She responded haughtily that I didn't know what I was talking about.
*shrug* At least I have a better fitting, more supportive bra than her, I guess.

  • Plus 4 does work for a few women with a certain body or if it's a brand that has super firm bands, but some women (like me),need to do minus 2-4 inches. It was interesting, cause I was measuring a friend and we have the same underbust measurement without a bra,yet she has less squish than me,so needs that actual measurement yet I need a smaller one,we seem to have different kinds of backs.
Also some women's ribcages expand more when they breathe in,which would make them need a stretchier band.
But in general, measuring and not adding inches is the best place to start.
