Oct 17, 2013 Wire transplant

I have a friend who broke an underwire on her only bra she owns right now. I would give her one of my bras but we have totally different boobs. So I was thinking maybe it would be possible to find a bra of mine with the same wire lenghth and take it out and put it into her bra with the broken wire. The bra she has is a Freya Deco (4234) 38FF which the wire lenghth is 12". If I have a bra with a 12" wire that I wouldn't mind parting with could I use it on her Deco? There's more to it than just the same wire lenghth I bet. Have any of you ever pulled off a "wire transplant"?

  • Yep, I´ve done that.

You have to rip the seams off from the ending of the wire channel and then just insert new wire and sew it again. It´s not that hard work, but you have to notice that it´s not all about the wire length, the shape of the wire is equally important. Some bras have very narrow wire channels, so you have to use force to take the wire out and to put the new one in! Small variations in the wire thickness can be a huge deal if the channels are very narrow!

  • I actually have a freya deco 36G wire, which would in theory be the same wire because it's a sister size. I'd be happy to send it to you :)
