I love my Enell!

I'm seriously loving my custom 6 - Enell » Sports (100) . I finally have a bra, which I can wear, and doesn't hurt me! Okay, it's probably not the most attractive thing, and I can only wear it out of the house under a t-shirt, but I don't care! It actually holds me up and holds me in, and isn't ruining my skin. I need to shorten the straps a bit if I want it to reduce bounce, but I'm undecided whether I should order another one, and keep this one as a regular bra, or try the alteration on this one. It's very comfortable. No wires to dig in, especially no evil gore at the centre, the elastic at the bottom stays put, it's just generally pretty awesome. It's the only bra I've tried in probably over 12 months which is actually comfortable to wear. Right now I'm wondering why on earth we put ourselves through all this lift and separate stuff when just wrapping everything up together works surprisingly well. I don't have space between my breasts, so why am I trying to stick wires in there?

Pinging alisa - I'm not sure whether you'd consider going through the custom process, but I'd give the Enell a full tick of approval for actually working on large boobs. Glenda from the custom team is very nice and knowledgeable and can help you based on your measurements, though at a guess, you'd probably want a 1 back and band with a 6/7 front, based on the fact that mine's a 00 back & band with a 6 front.

  • I'm so glad to finally hear a comfortable bra story from you, those bruises i saw are still in my head, please tell me it got better?

Anyway, on the enell thing, I altered the straps on mine and couldn't be happier. But if the front of the bra is too high for you as I remember reading, this may not be an option for you. Try pinning them up with something and see if it works.

I agree it's the most comfortable thing that ever touched my boobs. It's so comfy I want to live in it forever. I am not sure how they pulled it off.
The only reason I'm not wearing mine 24/7 is that old wives tale that compression isn't healthy for boobs.
I would like to see some science and reasoning behind that.
I am not the one to gamble though :/

  • I'm honestly not sure exactly what harm compression could do to your boobs from a scientific perspective. I mean, for centuries, women wore corsets/stays which basically smushed your boobs up and in yes? They must have continued to function, as we are still here as a human race. I'd love to hear a peer reviewed study on the subject. (If people have one- please link me!) For me personally, as regular bras are basically untenable for long periods of time unless I get great results from my custom pattern, I feel inclined to take the risk. :P

The bruising/scarring is better than it was, but I don't think that it will ever go away entirely if I still wear bras. Even 3-4 hours out and about in a normal bra is enough to break my skin. Things can start off fine, but after a while, the wires start to dig into my sides and the bottom elastic rolls under. I think my projection just exerts absurd forces on my body. Torque = force * distance and all that.

The front is okay, it's mostly the fact that I have super deep breasts for their height & width, so the top part is just totally empty. I'll try safety pinning the bra up to start with and see how it works. It's wearable as is to be honest, just not as a sports bra, which was why I wanted it in the first place (but seriously, it's so much better than any other option in my size range).
