A Tale of two fittings...

Living near a major metropolitan area (Chicago) has its perks. One of them is the ability to go to stores to try on bras in my size. My current posting is about two different options in the western suburbs.

  • Thanks for posting, this is great info! Another great option (& more affordable!) in the western burbs if you already know your size or want to try on a bunch of bras to figure it out, Nordstrom Rack has a pretty good selection of Freyas, Panache, Betsey Johnson, Calvin Klein, and other brands for under 10 bucks :-) Schaumburg Rack's selection is WAYYYYY better than Oak Brook. Be prepared to spend some time digging for your size, they aren't always sorted into the right place on the rack.

I contemplated getting a proper fitting and trying on some different styles at Elegance Underneath in Naperville, since I was tired of ordering and returning bras online and they claim to have a wide range. Thankfully, I called first and saved myself the trip after being told they don't really stock anything in a 28 band. They said they could possibly order bras in that size, but that kinda defeated the purpose of being able to physically try something on and save time and hassle of ordering online. I won't bother going for a fitting, since I 'm worried they would try to fit me into a 30 band since that's what they have in store.

So sadly, online ordering seems to be my best option still for bras in a 28 band, as the Nordstrom selection is extremely limited. If anyone knows of a brick & mortar store in the Chicago area has a wider range, please share, I'd love to know! :-)

  • I want to know this too! We have a few specialty fitting places in my region (Central IL) but none of them carry 28 bands :( If a place in Chicago could, I'd hit up that place and then spend all my money there and at REI.
