A disappointing Amazon adventure

So I've bought bras off of Amazon before with no issues. I love the fast shipping and the free returns, and have gotten some really fabulous deals off of them.

My last bra however, was just bad. I ordered a purple Lucy for just $35, free shipping. AWESOME! I got the package and immediately noticed it was not in the factory Panache packaging my other ones were. I opened the packaging and there was a band extender STILL ATTACHED to the band. To top it off, it smelled like body odor.

I am just SO upset. I tried it on anyway, and it fit perfectly. That just got me more frustrated because I wanted to wear it now, not wait for returns!

I start a chat with Amazon. She tells me that I can place an order, get upgraded shipping, and they will send me the return label for the one I got. Unfortunately, the only colorway they have in my size is black and costs $53. Not going to happen.

I settled for haggling with the customer service person, getting her to send me a partial refund. After all, the bra works, doesn't look damaged, and I've bought used bras before.

So in the end, I got a smelly but practically new Lucy for $22. Not an ideal situation, but at least Amazon customer support was very nice and worked with me to make the most out of the situation.

Time to go soak this bra in vinegar for awhile.

  • Ack. Don't soak it in vinegar, the acid will damage the elastic. Just give it a good wash.

  • Thanks for the tip! I was kidding... sorta. I did dilute a small amount of vinegar and add it to the soak (~10 minutes). My water is hard and my detergent is unscented, so I do this regularly with my clothes to help with residue buildup and I've never had an issue with anything wearing out faster.
