Got bras? Create an account

Bought a @panache @ariza and a @panache eliza on May 3. After very light wear and one hadnwashing, one hook has completely pulled out on each bra, and the eyes are pulling through as well.

I am completely dismayed at the thought of spending >$60 on bras that lasted less than two weeks. Is this a common panache problem? Can they be repaired?

Any ideas? (I'm trying to tag this but it's not working..I'm doing something wrong.)

  • That might be a symptom of a too-tight band. I would suggest getting an extender and trying. If it doesn't move at a looser setting, wear it that way. If, on the other hand, you need it as tight as the original band the extender will allow you to use a different set of hooks (ie second set on bra and one set on extender will be equivalent to first set on bra) so you can at least alternate the stress from one day to the next.
Also if the hooks and eyes are loose but not out you can probably reinforce with a few stitches. I haven't done it to bras but I have for other clothes. (You can repair if they are completely out too but it likely won't be as pretty.)

  • I think if this is happening on more than one bra it is probably because of a too-tight band rather than a manufacture problem. I would suggest wearing an extender as well- not only can you use a different set of hooks but the elastic will provide more give while keeping the band in place. If you've totally blown out the hooks, you can replace them with components from a fabric store cheaply.
