I began the day wearing my Freya Sadie Underwire bra (size 28DD). I own 6 Freya bras, and the Sadie is the one I've worn the least, probably because it's mostly black, and I've been wearing Spring colors. By the middle of the day, though, it was driving me nuts, and I changed into my Freya Piper longline (size 30D). It wasn't the size of the cups or the band that were uncomfortable with the Sadie, but the fact that the material felt dry, rough, and super itchy. This bra has been hand-washed quite a few times (only in LeBlanc Silk & Lingerie Wash), and the color has faded on the spandex parts, and the spandex seems harder and itchier. All my other Freya bras are incredibly silky. In fact, although the Ada and the Pixie are far from the most flattering or enhancing bras I have, I wear them the most often because they are so soft. I wondered if the black dye in the Sadie could be causing the material to be scratchy, but my Pixie underwire balcony (in Sugar Plum) has nearly as much black material as the Sadie. Any ideas/hints for how to soften up the Sadie? According to the labels, both bras are made of the same stuff, so I just don't get why they feel so different.

  • I'm going to suggest something that I'm sure will incur the wrath of the 'bravengers': chuck it into the washing machine ONCE. Really, it's not going to kill it. Of course: use a laundry bag, delicate cycle, and all that jazz.

If this doesn't work, only wearing it often might do the trick, but since it is so uncomfortable it's unlikely that you are willing to do that ...

  • Oh, hell, I've been washing my bras in the machine for ages on the normal short cool cycle. Without a lingerie bag, I've lost mine but I do want a new one. Never had a problem with it, I'm still wearing a bra I got 3 years ago and it's in good condition still. Although I must admit not using the lingerie bag is a bad idea for non moulded ones. Most of the bras I tossed recently still are in good condition, despite machine washing. They just don't fit. The ones that weren't in good condition were almost ancient. The only one that requires hand washing is my ulla dessous, a fine lace bra. Which I can't wear anymore due to stretch.
