I really don't know what's going on with this bra. I'd say I definitely need to go up a cupsize, but there may also be a terrible shape mismatch?
The band length is good. I measure 25 underbust, and this fits very snuggly on the middle hook. The straps a re fully adjustable, which is great for short people like me. The cup width seems to be spot-on for me too. It's just the cups. I don't get the cups. My small side fits okayish - there are wrinkles along the outer edge, which isn't unexpected given how little tissue I have out there. There's also a bit ... of wrinkling around the lace at the apex, but overall it's okay (this boob measures 5.8" around.) Big sister (7") also has a bit of the wrinkling on the outer edge, and a bit down near the wire too. There's another wrinkle in the top lacey section, inbetween the two seam lines which cut in and I think give a bit of inside-the-cup-quadding. And then most of my boob seems to be making it's great escape out the top, and over the top of the wires, and everywhere. Everywhere except where I want it to go - into those loose wrinkly areas on the side. It makes a very odd shape, and is not very comfortable.
Really lovely pattern though, and getting something that fits in the band and wires is a pretty rare feat for me. My big boob just really doesn't want to be friends.

Bought this as a replacement for an old 28D Juna I own - apparently that Juna is so stretched out and worn now, it's hiding the fact I've gone up a cupsize! Major quadding in the Ellie, but the band feels firmer than the Juna did even when new. Very pretty print too, disappointed it's not my size!

I adore this raspberry color and the beautiful flowery lace details -- such a playful bra -- but I'm quadding right out of it and the wires are throttling me. Got it in a 30D too, much better (though still not an ideal bra if you're full on the bottom, like me). As always, love Cleo's gentle lift-to-center fit.

With this bra, for the first time in my life, I had grapefruit boobs. It was kind of amazing.

Anyway, I really liked most things about this bra - the band is nice and firm, the straps are supple (though on the short side) and the cups fit just about perfectly. The fabric on the cups and band is luxurious and I keep feeling them (this is, however, a personal problem). The button detail on the gore is absolutely adorable and the gore is high and narrow just the way I like it. The wings are also higher than usual, which is really nice, and the firm, narrow wires feel ... really great against my ribcage.

I'm not a fan of moulding or padding and this bra has both, but it's something I'm willing to live with. The thing I might not be so willing to live with is the gaping at the outer edges of the cups which appear unless I shove my shoulders way back. I've heard other Maddie styles are more closed on top so I'm thinking about looking into those.

I love the feeling of having grapefruit boobs for once, it's very fun, but I prefer having a constant Apparent Boob Size on a day to day basis, so back it goes.

Love "constant Apparent Boob Size"!!! (can we call it ABS? Because I would also love constant abs... lol). I swear I try on 6 or 8 different bras each morning to find the one that's going to look perfect under whatever shirt I'm wearing. Front and center and rounded? Front and center and natural? A little bit of cleavage? A lot of bit of cleavage? Plunge or low cut? East-westy? Minimized profile? Too many choices!

    • Yeah, I once commented that, while sometimes I mourn that lack of choices in my size, otoh at least I really dont have to spend much time thinking about it!

    • 1

Used to put on the old beige bra then decide on clothing, now with pretty bra choices, I have to decide what to wear to match the bra I want to wear lol. It's nice to have too many choices now! Although getting dressed takes me longer now...

Overall this bra actually fits but folds in at the top so unless you're the right size exactly it might cut into the breast tissue a bit. It's not a bra that would easily fit a lot of people.

I'm really sad this bra doesn't fit me, as I love the shape it gives.
Unfortionately the band was huge on me (it stretched to 31"). But the cup seemed like a good volume. After I altered the band (now stretches to 28.75") the band is good, but the cups are way too small!

I swapped my Deco for this, hoping a 28D Lucy would be a better fit than the 28DD Lucy, maybe even as good a fit as 28D Marcie. It came new with tag, never worn and is definitely a better fit than the Deco was, so I got a good deal in that regard.

The band fits tightly, which I'm very happy about. The cups are a good fit too, but (predictably) not as perfect as Marcie. They wrinkle a bit along the horizontal seam [Edit: when not scooped fully] and I get the slightest bit of quad on my right boob. I'd say it's a bit too closed on top for me. Runs true to size and full on bottom.

I love the purple colour. This bra is close enough to fitting and comfortable enough to be a keeper.

    Edit:
The quadding is less severe when worn with extender. Bras, how do they work?

    root: wide, gradual v
    fullness: slightly shallow, even

when i wear bras with U-shaped underwires, i can swoop and scoop as best i can but i always end up falling out of the cups at the end of the day. marcie's wires are not U-shaped, at least not in this size range. the wire's slope at the armpit is more gradual, which suits my IMF better. this is the closest that a bra's underwires have gotten to fitting me. that said, i would prefer that the wires be ever so slightly wider.

on most bras with lace that i've tried, the lace looks weird. the marcie is no different, but ... it's caused less problems than other bras. it gapes at the top edge, just barely, and has a tendency to bag in the middle of the cup, where the lace and cup connect. i've read on r/abtf that there is a defect in the lace that contributes to the wrinkliness.

i think the disagreement between the lace and my upper tissue causes marcie to give me a pointier shape than the round shape that it gives other people with shallower shapes and more FOT tissue. it doesn't help that my nipples are really puffy. i want to love this bra, but the wrinkling irks me, even if it is a small issue.

    • in my size, 32J, that wrinkle is even more exaggerated and becomes 'in-cup quadding'. I love the bra as it holds me well and is super comfy, but I can only wear it in something that doesnt cling at all. I could even see the dent it gives me under most of my winter sweaters. Is yours also Raspberry color? I think thats the worst, but apparently the red was also bad.

    • yes this is the raspberry. I read that there are discrepancies across different colors, but i had no idea it was that bad.

    • I think this is so close on you, but looks slightly too narrow. If the lace is gapping at the top - have you tried Cleo Lucy?

    • a few months ago. there was honestly even more wrinkling. I may order again and try to swoop and scoop better.

    • update: i remember the 28D lucy being not just more FOB, but also more projected, and causing wrinkling everywhere, not just in the upper section.

I think this bra is really beautiful. It's my first attempt at wearing a soft cup bra, and it's very comfortable. I don't know if I would consider it to be high quality, but it's sufficient. The shape is rather off for me, and I'm not entirely sure why yet (about to post a fitting help request!), but I so wish it weren't. Lovely -- if it fits well.

This bra actually fits me quite well. The quality is great; the straps are incredibly soft and comfortable. The lace on the cups could be really pretty, but it doesn't lie flat, which makes it awkward. The main reason I'm unhappy with this bra is just a personal preference: I don't like the pointy shape it gives, especially since the seams on the cups are also visible through tight shirts. I would definitely recommend it if you don't mind that shape and aren't necessarily looking for a tee shirt bra!

What shape is the Cleo Maya made for? Because whatever it is, I can rule that out for me!

This is probably the first real disappointment I've had since entering the land of bras with proper band sizes. It's also the first time I know my problems aren't just being too small for the cups or something. I've tried one other Cleo at this point (the Lily, also in 28D), so I have a bit of a basis for comparison here. (Strangely, from what I've read, these two bras are supposed to be similar. I can't stand the Maya. When I figure out what the cause is, I'll update.) ... First things first, it feels so constrictive on my ribcage. It makes me vaguely anxious. Comparing it to my Lily bra, which I don't have that issue in, it seems to be just a tad smaller in the band. That said, it doesn't seem as bad if I fasten the band backwards and upside down. (My underbust is roughly 26".) I also felt like I needed to adjust the shoulder straps a lot longer in the Maya, for whatever reason. With the Lily, the little slides are about an inch and a half away from where the straps attach, but in this one, I basically had to lengthen the straps as far as they would go. My shoulders still feel very tense when wearing this bra, although I don't think adjusting more would help that. The placement of the straps is an okay width in that they aren't falling off, but where it attaches to the top of the cup on my left side digs in just a little when I move that arm forward.

As far as the cups go, not just the lace section of the balconnet, but some of the upper part of the printed portion of the cup, is basically empty. It's extremely pronounced on my smaller right breast, but still a big issue with the left. The bottoms of the cups feel full. The underwire seems like it's in the right place; it's definitely wide enough on the outside and nestles just right, but I can't wear this bra long enough to judge the rest of the placement by the impressions left. The gore is wide enough for me, too.

It's cute enough, like basically all of Cleo's offerings, but I liked the stock photos better than what I got. I don't know if it's because this is just a smaller cut, so there's less expanse of fabric for the print to shine, but it's nowhere near as bright and cheery as I'd thought. Kind of murky and dark. The blue is navy, not some fun aqua. It's still nice enough, I'm just a little saddened, although I suppose it lessens the blow of not being wearable for me.

i wear a 28D and am moderately shallow, slightly conical, and slightly wide. i am average set and even.

(because of my slightly conical shape and prominent nipples, i generally steer away from unlined bras. but lucy was available on prime, and i figured that trying an unlined bra for fun would tell me some things about my shape that a molded bra would hide.)

well the bra is lovely and comfortable. i can see why people enjoy unlined bras. and the seams could hide my nipples too. the only problem... was that there were wrinkles everywhere. especially at the top, but at the bottom as well. i already knew that i was shallow and conical, so i didn't learn anything new. now i just have definite proof.

I tried the Cleo Lily on a whim. I'd sized myself at a 26C/26D, and except for The Little Bra Company's sizing running weirdly small, I'd figured I probably fit best into a B or C cup when trying a 28 band. But the Lily was on sale, and I wanted to know if I truly was sized out of this brand, with its adorable prints and bright colors.

    I may not be!

It's not ideal, though. While it fits half of me fairly well... it is glaringly troublesome for the other half. My unevenness hasn't been an issue with the other bras I've tried and kept, but it is ... with this one. I may end up altering it. My bigger left breast fills the cup quite well. There's no real crumpling of the fabric anywhere, I like that the wires are wide enough to encompass my shallower breast tissue at the sides, and the fairly closed top of the cup, surprisingly, neither cuts in nor encompasses a bunch of empty space. There is a little bit unfilled along the diagonal seam, but it's a mostly smooth line along the top, and even with my shoulders hunched, the left cup doesn't have a ton of gapping. Again, it's not perfect, but it's pretty close for that cup. The right breast is a different story. The outside of the cup is filled alright, but there's a lot of wrinkling next to the gore, all the way up to the top of the cup. Because of this, there's also a fair amount of gapping. If I tuck the excess fabric along the underwire and gore, the cup fits much better. Ordinarily, gapping doesn't really bother me (I wore 34A bras; I'm accustomed to that), but because of the unlined cups, it's vaguely irritating. The somewhat rough mesh doesn't feel great crumpled against my breast tissue, and it's hard to ignore. I have some soft foamy inserts I borrowed from my TLBC Sascha, but I can't seem to position one in a way that alleviates the issue.

Beyond my cup problems, the bra fits fine. The band is tight enough for me, the shoulder straps are good, and the gore is comfortable.

As far as the bra itself goes, I quite like it. I do wish the cups were lined, but it's comfortable for half of me. The swan print is adorable and I love the touches of green. The band is stretchier than the other brands I've tried, but it's still good. It gives me a nice round shape.

I couldn't resist such a cute print and it really is cute in real life as well. With a 26-27" (tight) underbust this bra wasn't too tight or uncomfortable after a day of wear but I have heard that these bands run tight if you are a true 28". Straps fit fine, are fully adjustable, and didn't slip (although I was mostly sitting at my desk that day). What I was pleasantly surprised by was the fact that even though the cups weren't molded or padded I could wear this under a shirt without my nipples showing through! So the fabric is thick enough ... even though it's slightly sheer...magic?? I have a shallow shaped bust so the meshing at the top of the bra did not sit perfectly flat. The top of the cup was fine but the mesh part wrinkled and folded a little bit but it is not visible under clothing. I did think it helped push my breasts into a more projected shape. On a lesser bra this would bother me but the print was too cute so it negated that annoying part haha.

In the pictures you can see that one cup fit slightly looser at times on my smaller side and the slight wrinkling of the mesh part (which is not too bad).

This bra seems great for shallow breasts with wide roots, as long as you have at least even tissue on top and bottom -- if not FOT. The quality of the bra seems very good; the material is sturdy and soft. It seems that the band runs true to size. I like the shape this gives, and I'm sad that it doesn't fit my body shape just a little better. Definitely recommend trying, although it definitely requires you having a very particular shape.

This is both my first unlined bra and my first 28 band (thanks for the swap waffleknit ). While there were a lot of things wrong about this bra, I think I'm going in the right direction.

    Pro:
    - my boobs look surprisingly good (read: full) considering this is an unlined bra. I wasn't into the shape at first, but now I'm kind of digging it.
    - aside from the sternum-poking (see below) it was easy to forget this bra was on. There was minimal adjusting throughout the day.

    Con:
    - my roots are too tall and/or my boobs are too FOT for this model, especially when I swoop and scoop. ... It becomes less noticeable as I lose the swoop, but it is definitely not an ideal shape.
    - that also leads me to wonder if this is not the correct size and I should be wearing a 28DD.
    - the underwires dig into my sternum. I've never had the problem of a band being too tight before, so perhaps this will fix itself if I keep wearing it?
    - it is pink. Ugh.

I won't be getting rid of this one in a hurry because it's oddly comfortable and definitely closer to fitting than my 30Cs and Bs, but I think I'm going to look into half-cups to avoid the cutting in on top that I got here.

at least in bigger sizes, Marcie is considered very full-on-top friendly. So I wonder if it is a size problem? Also, you can try wearing an extender to see if the band is just a tad too tight, and you can also try bending the wires so they dont poke.

    • Hmm yeah, that definitely makes me wonder if a DD would be a better fit.

    • If you've found bras that fit better (since this post is really old!) I would LOVE to buy this from you!
