Bra fitting help » first non-molded cup bra-not sure if size issue or shape issue. Help?
Freya » Marvel Side Panel Bra (1501) » 30E 30:6
This is my first fit request, so apologies if I do it wrong. As the title says, this is my first bra without a molded cup, so I'm brand new to how this should fit, but its super comfortable except for the fact that my smaller right breast doesn't seem to fill the cup. According to /r/abrathatfits guide, I'm between a 30DD and a 30E, so I ordered this in a 30E.The bigger breast seems to fit fine, but even after excessive scoop & swoopage, if I relax my shoulders at all and/or exhale, the right cup is just...sad. I tried to get a picture of how empty it was, but I don't think it shows up very well. I tried tightening the strap on that side, but it only helped a tiny bit. I guess I need opinions on weather this is just the wrong shape for me, or if going a cup size down would work. 30DD's in other bras fit pretty well, but give me slight quadboob on the left. That being said, I'd rather have quadboob than gaping, so maybe I should just go 30DD from now on? Sorry if this went on forever or if I didn't give good info...I'm still learning! Thanks in advance!

helpfulFrom the reviews I've seen, this bra seems to work best on those with full on top breasts,so I think it may be a shape issue.

You look sort of even or FOB to me,but unless someone is obviously very FOB or FOT,I can be bad at figuring it out,so don't take my word for it.From what I've seen, you can have a fair amount up top but still be full on bottom. There's normally a very certain look to full on top boobs, maybe I'll get some links to examples if you want.
I'm wondering if you would like the Cleo Jude or Neve bra.You seem sort of shallow as well.I think Jude would be better. It's not the best bra out there, but for some reason I think you would like it.
For non-molded,Maybe one of these would work well for you.http://www.bratabase.com/browse/tutti-rouge/fifi-bra-tu105/

Thanks so much, I'm really happy you mentioned the Jude, because I ordered one from Zulily the other day and I was a bit nervous because of all the bad reviews I've heard.I've been waffling back and forth on the shallow thing, too. I just can't tell if I am or not. I've looked at the chart with examples of various degrees of shallowness, but I still can't figure out where I'm at on the scale. I also ordered the... Zia? I believe its called...but I don't think thats gonna be the right shape either. :( oh well, live and learn!

If I had tried this bra,I could have compared it to an ewa CH,but I haven't,so I can't advise there.
Hopefully we're both right about the Jude. It's gotten a lot of bad press but works for a few people.I think it might be just a nice basic comfy bra for you.
The Zia might not be,but I do see one person who is similar to you wearing it in the reviews,so you might be surprised.Take a look here, too. :) I think this would be a good option for more of a cleavage bra if you were looking for one.

I tend to sing Ewa's praises as it is,but sometimes you'll find one cheaper in the listings here or on braswap.
Figuring out the right shape is a lot harder than finding the right size IMO. -

I've studied that chart, extensively... I just can't wrap my mind around it tho. I'm a 2/5, until someone points out that its supposed to be your shape IN a bra, not naked...I've never had a bra that fits properly, so my shape in a bra has usually been..well..whatever shape the cup is, I guess...I don't know how I'm supposed to see what my boob is doing when its in a cup and I cannot see it...I don't know, I must just be missing something obvious.

Oh well. I just use it as me not in a bra since a poorly fitting bra would be me spilling out all over the place! Or mushed.
Let's pretend it's without a bra. That makes you bottom heavy. Look for a bra with a top panel of stretch lace and see how that works.
Most people prefer not to have quad boob since it looks, under a shirt, like you're stuffed into a bra. I guess. I don't know what other people think. Sometimes I don't know what I think! You can use cutlets to fluff up the smaller boob.

helpfulI think the cups are too large.
In your photos, I can see that both cups are gaping at the top. Also, it looks like you have a lot of room in the cup, all around your breast. I can see an inch or so of space between your breast and the underwire. Plus, the straps are very far apart, and the neckline looks very "vee". So I would try going down a cup size.

helpfulI think you are better off with a 30DD. This looks too large--I see wrinkling at the bottom of the cup as well as the gapping at the top, and the wire extends quite far out to the side as well.
When you are used to molded cups, it can be tricky to figure out good fit in a soft, unmolded cup, but the big difference is that a well fitting molded cup feels almost just nestled against the skin without compression, whereas a non molded cup does a little bit of compression; you should be able to feel a little surface tension in the fabric of the bra, otherwise it is not going to support the breast tissue.

helpfulI have the same bra in 28DD, and I think we're similarly built. (OK, maybe i'm a tiny bit more FOT.) My first piece of advice, if you still have the bra is to move the underwires out so that they go into the side sling - it's sort of misshapen until you do that. Then do some serious swoop and scoop. For me this moves underarm fat into the cup, and voila! it fits.

Ooh, I'll have to try the wire trick, i had not heard of that before! Thanks!

Thanks! I have had a hard time trying to figure out what shape I am. I initially thought I was FOB, but when I lean over or hold my breasts up as if they were in a bra, I seem to have a decent amount on top, so now I'm doubting myself about being FOB...maybe I'm closer to even? This is all so overwhelming sometimes!
