Bra fitting help » Flattening/compressing and separating breasts
Cleo » Maddie Moulded Balconnet T-shirt Bra (7091) » 30GG 30:10
Issue resolved
band too tight and bra style not very projected- returned
Original problem
I tried on this bra and the Cleo Tilda Balconnet bra and seem to have similar issues. It doesn't seem as apparent in the pictures, but in real life I feel like these bras are almost compressing my breasts and separating them out pretty far in an unnatural way.
I'm also having some issues with size. I've tried both the 30G and 30GG of the Maddie. The 30G had excess breast tissue on the sides. The 30GG seems to contain all the breast tissue, but there's a little gap at the top of the cup by the strap attachment.
I think I'm FOB with wide roots and average projection. I'm not sure which style is best for me in general. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

helpfulWhile some 30s may work well for you, in this specific brand and model, you would find a more optimized fit in a sister size (32G). You may have no discomfort at all, because some people have great tolerance for snug brands, but other aspects of fit will be adversely affected when a band is looser or tighter than optimal. Notice the strain on the hooks in the back photo--this means there is excessive tension on the band, and too much lateral tension will separate and pull the breasts east-west, distorting the cups so they fit shallower and point out left-right instead of being centered as the designer intended. If the bra isn't easily exchangeable, try an extender instead, and I think you'll find these issues are greatly improved.
Now, beyond the band issue, it's true that the Maddie is not the most projected cup design nor does it have a lot of room at the apex. It has a flatter, more "blunt" profile compared to other bras (e.g. Panache Jasmine) that allow the apex to project out more. So even in an optimal size the Maddie may not be exactly what you want--but the issue of the breasts being separated and compressed as you describe.

helpfulYou need a style with deeper cups. Try an unlined bra like Cleo Lucy/Kali, Cleo Hettie/Kayla, or Panache Envy.
