Galaxy Unicorn in XS Mega
This is my first time trying the Molke brand, and I decided to try it out in two patterns and sizes, the Galaxy Unicorn in XS Mega and the new Thundercups in Navy size XS both reviewed separately.

So, what can I say about the Molke bras?
Well, let’s start with a general review of the style of bra. There is no adjustment to the “straps” as it is all the same material and not really straps. The back of the bra is a single solid piece, with seams at the sides under the arms and at the shoulder area. The band is 1” ... wide, and is a single piece, as this is a pull over type bra. It is marketed as a nursing bra, but sold as a universal comfortable lounge bra for all ages. The “gore” is simply created by the cups overlapping at the center, so take the gore measurement as a general ballpark and not a solid measurement. There are no wires in this bra, and is made of 95% cotton and 5% elastane.

Molke states on their site they us the Boob or Bust site for sizing calculations, and this should have made me leery, as that site’s sizing chart is insane, but I’ll save that rant for a later time. So now on to the bra specifics!

The Galaxy Unicorn is an awesome galaxy pattern with Unicorns on it. I love the galaxy print! It is beautiful and fits my personality perfectly. I don’t mind the unicorns, but would have preferred just the galaxy print personally.

I ordered this in the XS Mega, the smallest band and largest cup this pattern is available in, which is supposed to be for 26-28” band and for a UK J to KK cup. I would have to disagree strongly with this, as my most common size is a 28KK and this one is not meant for my breasts at all! The compression is so tight and painful, it is horrible, and I actually worried it might pop my implants. Yes, it was that tight. These cups are seriously small, and I find it difficult to think it would even fit a 26/28JJ cup. I really wish Molke would do this one in the Thundercup.

Trying to get this thing on (and off) was an impossible solo task, requiring my husband’s assistance. The band measures 21.5” and stretches to 31” so as you can imagine it took some creative maneuvering to get my 41” bustline around this band and into the cups. The whole bra is 10” tall from the band to the top of the shoulder area. So seriously short. If I measure 10” down from the top of my shoulders, that 10” marker is above my nipple, so I was not being optimistic when putting this one on. Yet, there is some vertical give (very little) which did allow me to get the band below by breasts, though again, it took great force and a partner to achieve this feat. I am used to my cups alone being that tall, not the whole bra, haha. I am starting to believe I have taller &/or lower set breasts than I previously thought…….

The band rides up in the back, but I wouldn’t be able to get it over my boobs if it was any tighter. After discussing this with Sovavosi, we’ve concluded that this is a combination of the stretchier band and the short height, which results in the breasts pulling down in the front and, without that flexibility of the straps due to no adjustment ability, it forces the back to ride up.

The gore when flat measures 5” tall but only 4.25” when on due to the breast separation. This will vary based on breast size and shape obviously, but gives you a general idea.

I kind of feel like I’m wearing a slingshot, and not in a good way. Hopefully the cups will soften and stretch, yet not the band if I’m lucky. I’d love to wear this one but it won’t be possible without it giving some in the cup. But hey, maybe it will work as a high impact compression sports bra for me!

I’m trying to see the silver lining in this purchase and remain optimistic, but I am not thinking that I will be able to make this bra usable without modifications of some sort, with the first being convert the back of this bra to a hook and eye closure to allow for putting it on and taking it off without a helper, followed by adding some height to the overall bra. I’m thinking if the bra was taller, maybe the cups wouldn’t be so small and compressed, but I could be wrong with that theory.

I could not imagine a nursing mother attempting to get this bra on, let alone being able to free a breast for feeding.
