Didn't fit

Ewa Michalak only makes my proper band size as a custom order so I purchased this bra one band size up with the intention of altering it. This is the first bra I’ve purchased from Ewa Michalak and I struggled to figure out exactly what size to order. I think I would have had more success with this bra if I had purchased it in a 70J and then shortened the band or probably a 65JJ if I custom ordered it.

This bra is very beautiful and I’d love to buy it in another size, but it just doesn’t fit me correctly enough to justify trying to alter more than the band with my limited sewing ability. The underwires are a bit too wide (though they are much better than the rest of the brands I’ve tried so far!), the band is of course too big (which is obviously my fault) and the shoulder straps are a bit too far apart which makes it sit funny on me (I think this is what is causing the gaping in the photos). Still though, It’s definitely a high quality bra and would fit someone else very well!

This bra is not owned any more

  • So, I have 2 EM bras, a 70HH BM and a 70J S. The HH is a bit small in the cups, and the J is small in the band (super tight cloth, I guess, tho even unstretched, its smaller) . I usually wear a 32J in Panache (floris and envy). I see that this stretches almost to 32 inches, which sounds like my size, but JJ is likely too big - do you know your size in either Floris or Envy?

  • dbmamaz I have only tried 4 bras from Panache, and unfortunately neither Floris nor Envy, sorry. I have Panache Bella (30J), Melody (30J), Delilah (30J), and Jasmine (30JJ). I'm planning on reviewing and listing them soon.

The underwire on the Jasmine ends in the middle of my armpit and dug into them so badly it's a torture to wear. The underwire also rubs somewhere in between my boobs as well, but I'm too afraid to even bother trying it to find out right now haha. I have very closed-set breasts and I remember the underwire was way too high. This was a problem with all 4 Panache bras to varying degrees. Panache doesn't have much of a selection of Plunge bras in large cup sizes so I opted for buying whatever I could get in my size.

The Bella is the most tolerable of all of them. The gore is a little wide and high and the underwire ends almost at my back but with some bending of the underwires it is fairly comfortable to wear. :P Before I bent the underwires it was impossible to wear.

If you like, I can take a look for where I left my Melody and Delilah today and let you know why they were a bad fit. I don't think Panache is for me, as the underwires seem to consistently be just way too wide for me. Unfortunately I ordered all 4 at once online and shipping was too expensive to justify returning them. :P

I uploaded two photos of the EM bra and two of me wearing it, which I'm told will be added in about an hour. Now that I've thought about it a little more, I think the straps being too wide are actually the main reason the rest of the bra doesn't fit (other than the band size and underwire width, which I mentioned in my review). There's extra space at the top that completely goes away if I pull the fabric to where I'd expect the straps to be.

  • Thanks - so, is this band too big for you? The cups clearly look big - to wide and then empty space near the center. I really think I'm a J in EM, but I hear sometimes the padded ones fit differently. I'm still afraid I'd fall out of the PL tho. I really LIKE high gores. My boobs almost touch, but if you push them apart, they dont complain. Its like the skin at the center lets the boob flesh seep under it, but it doesnt really belong there? and without a high gore, I just fall out - very soft and center-heavy.

  • dbmamaz So I double checked and the band is indeed too big for me. I didn't measure the extra space but I think I could stuff my hand in there if I tried as the band is fairly stretchy.

Also just for clarity's sake, in the photos I'm wearing the bra with the included removable pads. I wouldn't normally wear them but as the bra is already a bit too big I didn't think at the time that it would make a difference.

I think the gore gets higher up as you go to a larger cup size (this bra included), which is disappointing for me but I guess great for you!

Are there some other pictures I can take for you that will help you ascertain the gore height and fit a little better before I sell it? Unless if plans change, I'm hoping to exchange it for the EM PL Laguna in 65JJ on Friday.

  • I appreciate it but dont worry, I'm not really ready to buy another bra anyways, just kinda trying to get a feel for it all. thanks

Fit information

On Jul 2015

I think sister-sizing down one size might eliminate the fit issues

Center gore placement:
Doesn't lie flat against sternum
Underwire length:
Runs too high under the arm, it pokes
Top of the cup:
Wrinkles, can't quite fill it
Cups separation:
Too separate for my boobs
Band fit:
The band is definitely too big
Cup's width:
There is empty fabric on the sides (Cup too wide)
Center gore comfort:
Underwires dig into sternum, because they are too low
Strap separation:
Are too far apart

This bra didn't fit her, but these did
