Didn't fit

This bra was a slight disappointment. After discovering my Holy Grail S Pieprzyk 65GG, I thought -- or at least hoped -- I could order S's and extenders and get the same great fit. Not so much.

By Bratabase measurements, these bras ARE identical except for the Kleksik's less-stretchy band. But there's a dimension we don't measure here that makes all the difference: cup height. The bottom center seam on this bra is an entire centimeter taller than on the Pieprzyk in the same size.

Do the math: 1 cm per cup X 2 cups = 2 cm = 0.80 inch, or almost an entire cup size. That is NOT an acceptable margin of error. And in fact, these cup dimensions -- including that bottom seam -- are almost identical to my Comexim Irish Coffee in 70J, one cup volume larger.

So which one is true to size and which one mismade? I don't know, because we don't take that dimension here. So in theory I have to keep playing Ewa Roulette. (In practice, I discovered the 70FF CHP, and am even more in love, so eff this cut.)

I also realized several wears in that altering the straps may compensate for the center gaping the too-tall cup is causing. The straps are attached at more or less a 45 degree angle from the corner of the cup. On a hunch, I pinned them so they emerge vertically from the top edge. As you can see from the two angle shots, almost all the gape disappears. I have a similar but smaller gape issue with my 75FF SM bras and was going to have my tailor take those in at the gore, but now I'm thinking they can all be fixed this way....stay tuned.

Now, as for the bra itself, the colors are gorgeous. I should have realized, of course, that on me the full-blown rose at the gore would be a pressed flower, but it's still pretty despite being squished. The band runs tighter than average; I had trouble closing this even with an extender for the first several wears. (I've lost 10 lbs., though, so hard to say how much of the change is me vs. the bra.) The real drawback is the texture; the super-smooth jersey actually makes the seams MORE visible under clothing, rather than less, since there's no other texture to distract the eye. This is, for me at least, a sweater-only bra.

  • Hope the pictures show up soon . . .

  • Weird. All but the pinned straps one were approved a few hours ago. They should be visible.

I agree, we should definitely account for height! I have a really short torso, so tall cups can ruin an entire bra unfortunately. I'm sorry you had this problem. : (

  • I refreshed twice and cnat see them. are you sure you included them on the fit request? there are so many little spots to click on . . .

Her pictures are associated with the bra dbmamaz , just not with her profile. At least I assume they are her photos (?)

I'd be the last to contradict you about the intrinsic value of cup height measurements as I have just edged into a size range where I bump into the opposite issue with almost all UK bras (cups not tall enough). However, I believe Jj has mentioned that every time a new measurement is added to the table, it leads to a drop in the number of users willing to enter any measurements at all since the longer the table and the more data is requested, the more off-putting it is to them. I find that a compelling consideration.

It's a good point that more data is more burdensome. It's just an interesting quirk of these two bras -- same maker, same size, same season, same cut, DRASTICALLY different fit because of this one feature. At least, that's the only difference I can find, and I've been poking at this bra for two months.

As for the photos, they're definitely visible from multiple different perspectives, but it's hard for me to tell when I'm logged in what the issue is. Sorry! It all looks right to me.

  • thanks I see - associate w the bra but not the review

  • ack - now i see it on the review too. So odd. I looked several times. sorry to leave all this random noise!

  • No problem. Possible it was me, with the multi-stage photo upload. Who knows! Hope it's helpful.
