ive been having problems finding bras in my size that are affordable so im trying to work with sister sizing and shortening the band. to do this alteration experiment i bought a 5 dollar bra at walmart, so the bra is terrible quality. The band fits perfectly on me but the cups still turned out ill fitting. my breasts dont fill out the bottom of the cup so i have this fold of fabric that shows up and my breasts have a quad-boob because of it, the cups on this bra also go to far back toward my armpit, and the wings are too tall for me as well. Im happy with my alterations on this bra but the cups are not right for my shape.

• How much are you taking in the band? Altering a bra can work if you are going down one or two sister sizes... not so much if you're trying to go down 4 band sizes. The proportions of a 40D and, say, a 32G are very different.

• yeah, i think you are right and trying to alter with that big a difference will not work out for me, ive been mulling over this bra all day. (i only did the alteration thursday.) i think shortening the band pulled the cups back too far and that caused the cup issues.

• True, but also a large band, small cup bra usually has a wider and shallower shape.
  What size do you think you need?

• 32:9 i think would work for me, i haven't gotten to try on anything quite to size though. since this experiment didn't quite work out and i cant find any bras near by with a more equal sister size I've decided that my best option would be to stop lollygagging and just buy an appropriately sized bra on here instead.
