Used to fit

I have to share this review as an adventure because I am now the proud owner of a FITTING BRA!!!

It even seems like it fits better everytime I put it on. The Comexim Ingrid Plunge has gotten some flack for its pattern, but I think the antique styled floral print is perfectly fitting a rural farm girl surrounded by flowers. The padded plunge is a very "in your face" shape - the girls are up and out and as my sister said "it's not that they look bad...they're just so...prominent." This is a function of the wearer as well as the shape, because I've been disguising my breasts with frumpy tops and sports bras for so long I'm not sure she was even aware of how very 'prominent' they are. The shape isn't perfect for every top or occasion, but the bra fits and is in my possession and is the first non-athletic bra to do that ever, in my entire life. I won't go into my feelings about this - we probably have whole spaces somewhere on this site dedicated to tearfully share the life changing event that owning a bra that fits truly is - but I know many of you understand what it's like to be confident and comfortable with the entire front half of my body for the first time since I was 15.

The bra itself - is comfortable, supportive and well made. I have narrow rooted, close-set and center full, pendulous breasts that are soft and also full on top. This can be tricky to fit I think, since I am prone to having breast tissue molded into places that aren't attractive or comfortable - like the cleo marcie I tried earlier this week that had wide wires and a high gore - tissue was pushed out to the sides as well as over the top of the wires at the center. In the 65N - Comexim » Burgundy Half Cup (357) I had empty space on the outside of the cups and overflow in the center. I think I would have had the same problem with the Ingrid padded plunge had the cups not fit almost perfectly. Another plus is the padding disguises any other weird soft tissue stuff that might be happening inside the cup itself.

I'm sure I'll find better fitting bras in a shape I find more flattering in the future, but I doubt I'll ever feel as grateful and overjoyed as I do now reviewing my first ever fitting bra. Yay!

Update - October 2016
Now that I've worn this bra few times for long days and have gotten over my ecstatic 'fitting bra' glow (seriously, I've been wandering around in a well supported haze, gleefully whipping off my shirt for anyone showing even the slightest interest). But now I realize that I probably need more immediate projection for a truly comfortable long-term fit. On a few drives home I've had painful wires digging into my ribs below my IMF, and noticed the inside of the cups have some wrinkles after wear. From what I've learned here I believe the wires are pushed down over time and dig into my ribs due to lack of immediate projection in the cup or an overabundance of immediate projection in my boobs! It's not unbearable by any means but definitely something I'll consider for future purchases.

Congratulations! It looks so beautiful on you. I had the same moment when I got my first Comexim.

It looks great on you! I've seen other ppl like that print, it is sweet. I like florals in general.

There's something very Jane Austen, period British, about it. If my husband didn't detest beige, I would be all over it.

  • Congratulations! It looks so good on you! I have this bra too (I haven't reviewed it - shame on me for being lazy!) and I think the pattern is very pretty. A beautiful color scheme for Fall too!

  • Congrats! It looks lovely on you! The colors in that floral print look nice with your skin tone.

Yay congratulations!! Comexim is wonderful. This bra looks fabulous on you. I have a circular love/hate relationship with its pattern. I'm not a fan of florals or anything that could look like my grandmas curtains. I really didn't like Ingrid when i first saw her. But she has won me over somehow & now I love her colors. Sometimes i still think "man it really does look like a couch" but not enough to stop me from (finally) asking Comexim to make me one :-P

I dont think anyone in my family ever had a floral couch

dbmamaz We were the only ones around that I know of. We rescued it off the streets (yeah...it was gross but we were super broke) and the pattern was almost the same as this one. Let me just say this pattern works better on a bra than on a couch.

  • lcl0706 My partner had the same "couch" reaction to my Ingrid. He detested it because it reminded him of the velvet orange/brown floral couches that were popular in the 70's/80's. After he said that, Ingrid was ruined for me as well. We had that same couch when I was a kid. I couldn't get it out of my head after that.

It looks great! Out of all the bras I've ever seen, this is literally my favorite pattern. I love the earth tone florals. I've one on order, hope it fits as well as yours!

    Stunning!! Looks fantastic!!

It looks fabulous on you, congrats! I also had the same reaction when I got my first Comexim plunge in the correct size for me. It took me quite a while to fall for Ingrid, as in general I don't like florals, but she won me over in the end with her unusual Autumnal colour scheme.

Ok, just one more comment - sometimes some of my Ewas give me that same feeling, like, woah, nelly, I know i have boobs but, thats a lot! But I've started to get used to . . .thats just the body I have and its ok

But otoh, they are a lot less pronounced in a BM

  • Thank you so much everyone! I love this place :)

  • This bra looks lovely on you! 😊 Regarding the pattern, I guess it's always a matter of preference, from my side it's the prettiest bra ever :D

OMG thank you for this review! I have center-full breasts and I was so on the edge about getting the Ingrid.

dezeiram I'm so glad my review was helpful! I've gotten so much help and advice on bratabase but haven't gotten to do much contributing or reciprocation yet since I'm still learning how bra fitting and everything work. I hope the Ingrid works out well for you!

not a perfect technical fit, but I'll still wear. Straps moved in would help, but main issue is lack of immediate projection and outward facing apex - my center full, straight ahead boobs have to be forced to the sides. Also I've lost some volume. I'd try a 65K or a 60M now, but I'm not sure this style is a good shape match
