This bra fits exactly like my 42H - Elomi » Amelia Spacer Moulded Bra (8740)s except the wires are slightly shorter and wider. The keyhole is really nice because it shows the issues I have with a too-wide gore- you can even see my breast root through the keyhole. The difference between the Amelia and the Charley besides the keyhole is that the decorative lace on the side and under the keyhole matches the rest of the Charley line.

Gorgeous color on you!!! Wish manufacturers would narrow their gores.

    • 1

Me too! It would be so easy to make this one overlapping.

    • Very pretty! Too bad it did not work. On some of my bras the gore overlap, I'm not sure if my boobs cause this or if it's the bra construction, Bravissimo Camilla for example. So it could be done on purpose for close set boobs...

This bra. I'm not even sure what to say.

So it is bandless and marketed to petite plus gals. But the apex of the cup is 2 inches higher than my apex. So it's for someone with much taller roots than I (granted I have quite short roots). Also, the projection is all at the very top of the cup. There is almost none at the wire. So this bra would be good for someone with tall shallow breasts. But at this size how many people are like that? In smaller cup sizes it could be great though.

Very little room for center projection. Gore isn't too high for this size. Wires are pretty pokey. They are narrow but super flexible and will permanently bend back like other Elomi wires.

The fabric is very soft and smooth. The lace is printed. I like the black and white pattern with the red bows. I would love this fabric on a different shaped bra. The band is plain black mesh. The bra is quite lightweight with no lining.

The apex.....giggle. I have tried bras like that. Not for us shorties ;-)

OK this is kind of a crazy thing to offer to petite plus women in this cup size range! I'd think the main audience for a large-band option with tall and shallow cup would be tall, broad-built folks.

    • wendybien right? I get the concept, but how many petite plus women with tall wide roots and super shallow breasts are there in a size H? I mean even in smaller sizes high waisted with tall roots can't be super common.

    • This bra seriously confused me too, although I guess I have taller roots so not quite the same problem. But in a 36GG, while I filled the cup with the tiniest ruffle at the top in my smaller size, the gore didn't quite tack and I had the weirdest feeling that my boobs were under my arms.

      Love4Pollinators @wendybein cupandahalf @Elodie

Lol, I am petite framed and very narrow shouldered and nothing makes my boobs look as amazing as this bra. Not sure why.

    • 2

I knew it would work for someone! You can also try the Anushka HC and Moonlight HC if you like this one!

    • 1

jassykangaroo , that's great! I have pretty wide shoulders and a medium frame I think, so those might be key differences.

    • jassykangaroo Fantastic :-)

    • I have anushka! Love it as well, but deff isn't as amazing as Tara! I think I have tall, projected roots, and while this bra is "shallow" it isn't shallow for me because my projection jutts straight out. I'm very full on top, wide but self supporting boobs. I have it in a 40H and it's too tight with an extender, and I'm usually a 42GG/j in goddess. I'm not sure what size to get it in because of my "small" frame. It's the only bra that gives me cakes on a plate that I've been dying to have again lol. I have been recommended the @sculptressechichi but haven't gotten around to getting it. I do want the moonlight as well, but I can't tell if I need wider or narrower wires. I've been very uncomfortable in bras lately so I think I've grown /:

  3. Amelia Spacer Moulded Bra (8740)

    Bralterations!
I have high, narrow rooted, pendulous, omega breasts splayed on bottom with connected breast tissue at top. My roots are about 4 inches tall and my larger breast is about 14 inches around so I basically have all the projection. I am full on top.

The original bra produces nice rounded breasts but is wide set and built for wide average height roots. Under the lace is a satin non-stretch panel that is supposed to pull the breast forward. On my soft breasts it creates a line dividing my breasts which is sometimes noticeable. The lace can be scratchy under the armpit.

    How I altered it:
On me ... the top of the cup has always had a lot of empty space, the straps were a little wide set, and the cups were very wide while the elastic top cut in. The gore was tall and my centerfull breasts pushed it out. My Sculptresse Pure Lace Moulded Lace T-shirt Bra (6931) was too small but I loved the wires. I decided would put those stiffer, narrower wires in this bra because I really needed a fitting seamless beige bra to go under my low cup white shirts (and if I can find even narrower wires for cheaper I will put them in for better forward projection).

First I cut off all the scratchy lace (in the future I won't because the alteration takes the bra out of my armpit and the lace hides the side sling seam). I cut about an inch or two off the cups (I drew freehand along the top of my bigger side with a pencil and cut, rounding it out, then held it up to the other cup and used it as a pattern to cut along), removing just the spacer fabric (which really has amazing construction, little threads holding each side of the fabric apart inside) and cutting down including the wire channels and gore. Because the Pure has shorter wires as well, I was able to make this bra a true plunge. I then hand sewed the satiny side sling along the top of the cup on each side to move the straps in a bit. This created a bit of a strange curve along the side sling, but it's not noticeable under clothes.

I hand sewed the wire channels shut at the gore. Then I pinned and machine sewed elastic fold over tape along the top which I had cut. I put it from strap to strap because some of the original finishing is scratchy. I've also considered sewing it along the underarm section, maybe when I have more time.

Finally, and I probably should have done this first, but I didn't because I didn't realize how wide the gore was, I sewed the gore together and sewed leopard print bows I cut off my Sculptresse bras onto the gore. While I don't love bows on most bras I just felt like this one needed some spicing up.

You can see my pictures for how great it looks on, and reduces all the cup gap on my larger side for my short rooted breasts. I don't have too much cleavage, but it doesn't show under any of my thin, white, low cut shirts and dresses, and I don't feel like I'm falling out in the middle though the gore is quite low. I'm going to have to get more narrow wires and some Elomi Amelias online for cheap and do the same thing when I need a new beige seamless bra. It's not beautiful or whatever, but so practical, and everyone needs at least one practical bra. Summer shirts here I come!

    Total cost and time:
Cost of bra + $5 for 2 yards of tape (I only used 1 yard for the top however).
2 hours thinking, cutting, and sewing time. If you don't have a machine it might take longer to hand sew the fold over elastic along the top. I recommend lots and lots of pins as it is curved.

I have done the same alteration but with an even lower gore on my other Amelia with wires I bought from Sweet Cups, shout out to Ivp for telling me about them (those wires are not a perfect fit, a bit too wide, but they work) and I love them both. They are the best fitting, most comfortable, most attractively shaped bras I own. They have lots of projection and room for my breasts at the bottom, give rounded coverage, and don't stifle me at the top. I even get sexy cleavage in my lower one.

When I get another Amelia I will do a step by step with lots of pictures on my blog!

Thanks! I've done this on 4 Amelias now and I'm about to buy #5. For me these bras, once modified, are the most supportive and generally longest lasting I've bought. They also are the most flexible vis a vis sizing because the cup materials stretch. Not great for uplift though but that's last on my list of important things for bras to do.

This was much more pointy than the 40J - Elomi » Energise Uw Sports Bra With J Hook (8041) but I’m not sure if that is because the bra is too small or if this colorway is older and slightly different. I’m kind of mad there is no 42HH in this bra- it makes no sense that there is a 42H and a 40J but no 42HH! Who thought that was a good idea?!?!

I might wear the 40J with an extender because I need a sports bra and this is the closest to fitting I can find.

It seems that Elomi is now making bras with uncomfortable fabric. This bra is made of a plasticky laminate that feels like canvas. It's quite durable and provides great lift. However it feels gross. The band is a nice comfortable Elomi band, although my experiment with this bra to see if I needed to size up in band or cup or both at this point led me to buy a 42 band which stretches to 45 inches. I don't need a band that big, and I feel comfortable saying I am definitely a 40 band still. The bottom of the cup is ... not projected enough and I get wrinkling at the side of the bra and quadding at the top, so this is obviously a shape issue. I probably still fit a 40H in Elomi, although a 40HH might also work.

This bra suffers from all the usual Elomi problems: it's too shallow at the base, is built for women who have average to tall, average to wide roots, and is super pointy. I've yet to meet an Elomi made for FOT wearers, and that's why I get quadding at the top edge of the cup where there is a bit of elastic. Like all Elomi bras the gore is wide and isn't great for center full or close breasts. To me this is not a plunge bra, either, with a 3.5 inch gore. The 40H - Elomi » Carmen Plunge Bra (4010) was way more plunging on me, but also suffers from fabric troubles. The wires are unusually firm for Elomi. They almost feel like Panache wires and are quite U shaped. The apex is quite high and points up rather than out so I get rocket boob in this, a lot like the 38J - Panache » Thea Balconnet Bra (9261).

I thought I would like this colorway but the pops of neon green make it less classy. There's not a lot about this bra I like, sadly.

Great review even though it does not work for you! What is up with the band stretching so much? 👎 I do not care for the color either. Elomi I used to watch but have stopped. Like you say their fabric is lacking for the prices of their bras!

    • 1

Although the band stretches a lot Elomi's feel firmer than other brands' bands. I'm not sure why. Maybe the mesh is firmer. I know their elastic is wider than most, which does feel nice. But yeah I was looking forward to some of their upcoming styles but now I'm not as much. :(

    • 1

Me either and it's too bad as they are trying to cater to larger sizes but we want nice materials too 😉 Their underwires I don't like as much either. At least we tried?

I wish the wings and gore were just a bit shorter, but so far it is my best fitting bra. The stretch lace is forgiving for shape, the band is true to size, it feels supportive but not too firm. Material could be softer.

How strange it is to learn I’ve been wearing the wrong size- much too large in the cup and too small in the band- for quite a while.

I sized down to 42HH - Elomi » Kim Plunge Bra (4340) in this bra but then started to notice a lot of sagging and some wrinkling in the top of the cup sometimes. I decided I would try 42H just too see. Not surprisingly the cup elastic cuts in somewhat but besides that the fit is perfect! I feel like the problems of the 42HH (wings too tall, wires too wide, straps too wideset) are completely resolved. All I need to do is take a seam ripper to the cup elastic and voila! I will be purchasing this at heavy discount in my favorite color way. Hurray!

This bra produces nice rounded breasts but is wide set and built for wide roots. Under the lace is a satin non-stretch panel that is supposed to pull the breast forward. On my soft breasts it creates a line dividing my breasts which is sometimes noticeable. The lace can be scratchy under the armpit.

This bra has the typical soft Elomi wires that stretch back and mold to the body so if you need wider wires and prefer molding wires this is a good choice for you. Keep in mind that the projection forward may change as the molding happens however, especially if you have ... a lot of forward projection rather than side projection.

    Edit: Alterations

On me the top of the cup has always had a lot of empty space, the straps were a little wide set, and the cups were very wide, on top of the other issues I had with this bra. So after my beige Etta fell apart I decided would put those stiffer, narrower wires in this Amelia because I really needed a fitting seamless beige bra to go under my low cup white shirts (and if I can find even narrower wires for cheaper I will put them in for better forward projection). First I cut off all the scratchy lace. I cut about an inch off the cups (I drew freehand along the top of my bigger side with a pencil and cut, rounding it out, then held it up to the other cup and used it as a pattern to cut along), removing just the spacer fabric (which really has amazing construction, little threads holding each side of the fabric apart inside) and cutting down including the wires channels and gore. Because the Etta has shorter wires as well, I was able to make this bra a true plunge. You can see my pictures for how great it looks on, and reduces all the cup gap on my larger side for my short rooted breasts (sorry that it looks gross, I need to wash the bra, something spilled on it which I was driving around with it looking for matching finishings). I don't have too much cleavage, but it doesn't show under any of my thin, white, low cut shirts, and I don't feel like I'm falling out in the middle though the gore is quite low. I'm going to have to get more narrow wires and some Elomi Amelias online for cheap and do the same thing when I need a new beige seamless bra. It's not beautiful or whatever, but so practical, and everyone needs at least one practical bra. Summer shirts here I come!

    New cup measurements
    Cup width: 8 inches
    Wire length: 15 inches
    Gore width: 1.5 inches
    Gore height: 2.5 inches
    Cup height: 10 inches

    Total cost and time:
Cost of bra + $5 for 2 yards of tape (I only used 1 yard for the top however).
2 hours thinking, cutting, and sewing time. If you don't have a machine it might take longer to hand sew the fold over elastic along the top. I recommend lots and lots of pins as it is curved.
