fortnight has long been a staple for small band/large cup people who are wild bitter about the lack of wireless bras on the market in their size. i picked up this one stealthily on the internet somewhere at a big ol' discount and it lives up to the hype.

QUALITY: smooth. silky. bespoke. luxurious. these are a few words that describe the voice of british actor idris elba, and also this bra. it's the most adult clothing item i own. i feel like i have a salaried job with benefits when i wear this bra (i don't). i would wear it if i were meeting idris elba in ... a casual context, and he would think i looked cool and grown-up.
COMFORT/FIT: a little more relaxed and elastic than the luna and vega models by fortnight. if you're expecting a tacking gore and a totally smooth line across the top of the cup, or to wear it under a structured blouse, you'll be disappointed, but your boobs will also feel like they are being cradled in the web of a sensual spider. probably don't do jumping jacks in it.
APPEARANCE: i like wearing this under a really soft, worn t-shirt or a flowy button-up, around the house. i'm technically an E/F cup, on the larger side of what fortnight bras are designed to handle in terms of volume, but i really love the way it looks. it keeps things just locked down and pushed up enough that you feel comfy and put-together, yet decadently casual.

IDEAL USES: sleepovers, making dinner/chilling around the house, working from home
KEY AESTHETICS: femmed-up tilda swinton, grown-up kiki's delivery service, punk april ludgate, building a found-object sculpture in a loft studio while listening to nina simone on vinyl, urban witchcraft

As some of you may know, I've been stalking this particular bra for a little while. I've never tried anything from Fortnight before this set, and the only other bralette I own is from Old Navy, which has a very stretchy band and no hooks and eyes, although it is quite comfortable.

I'm super excited to be able to try this set (thank you annabellynn!) which includes both the longline bralette and the high-waisted briefs, size Large. Let's start off with the bralette! I was immediately attracted to this cut and colourway which is androgynous and minimalist and bold and amazing. This is a colourway that ... IMO is meant to be seen through shirts, and I'll be wearing it with plenty of light coloured tops this summer. It gives me a nice rounded and minimized shape with a subtle peak. The only appearance aspect that surprised me was that I received it and one small thread was poking out at the bottom of the left cup's seam. Not sure if this is due to manufacturing or if it's a result of the light usage it has endured, but it's not a big deal. It has four hooks and three columns of eyes, and I am able to wear it on any of the three settings depending on how snug I want it on any particular day. The elastic at the bottom of the longline (and at the waist of the briefs) is stretchy, but it is actually sewn quite small. My snug UB is 25.5", my waist is 25", and I am able to pull the back out a couple inches, but it's ultimately a lot more snug than I was expecting (not complaining though!). This longline is definitely sewn with a V shape ribcage in mind. The cups would be ideal for someone with a more shallow shape, but I can make it work just fine. I like the low V neck, but the inside edge of the cups does cut into my breast tissue a little bit (though not very noticeably since the bra is fairly stretchy). Because of its stretchiness, I do find that the bra can shift around during the day. I found myself readjusting my breasts in the cups a few times (though this could also be just getting used to wearing it), and I found that the band did slide up in the front and would fold slightly underneath my breasts. In general, however, I do find it comfortable and I am looking forward to wearing it often.

The briefs were a happy surprise! I honestly was not expecting them to fit. Again, the elastic at the waist is sewn quite small, and these are definitely the highest-waisted briefs I own now, so they sit at my natural waist, above my hip bones, and they stay put at my waist. The only part of the briefs which is slightly too big is the single-layer mesh in the upper back, directly attached to the waist. The two bottom halves of the briefs fit well. They are a layer of mesh which has been folded over to create the two edges, so it is doubled, but it doesn't create any pantylines and doesn't cut into my butt, which is always an exciting find! The briefs do tend to ride up a little bit because they're slightly loose, but it doesn't bother me that much. If I were to get the high-waisted briefs again, I would order them in Medium instead, I think.

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, and would be willing to buy more from Fortnight in the future!

Dear Fortnight! I believe that we are going to be a good friends. LOVE IT! The materials feels so perfect, the colours are more than perfect! I got this beauty from jlcl119 and very thank you for that. The bra, set was previously used so the band is little bit streched now but its almost perfect on me as I would need one extra set of eyes just for more comfort as a comfy-homey bra, however still is comfier than some of my 70s EM or Comexims. It doesnt give much support to my boobs but I didnt expect that, and I need this bra to ... feel good in it without feeling wires on my body and having red marks after wearing it. Also, the cups are slightly too small - next time I will go for 30F probably and that will solve the problem hopefully.
The panties size M but looks like S, obviously are too small on me -_- all over are dgging into my body - probably Id need to loose 10kg to make them fit https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" />
Overall, some issues with it, but nothing major and that I cannot accept! I love it once again!

I've tried a couple 30Fs. I think for the cup volume I really need to get a 32F

    • 1

For me I need to find in 32DD and should work really well as looser band would reduce the quads :)

This is beautiful! Been looking for this same one myself.
      Fortnight's designs are gorgeous :)

Queequeg0925 you should definietly try it!! Designs are brilliant but the materials also are high quality (however I wouldnt pay over $100 for it, but the price I got it , was worth it )

So cute - the dotted mesh they use is unique and fun.

Overall, an impulse purchase. I don't need this bra at all. But it's beautiful and so soft and tempting to keep, clearly the quality Fortnight is known for. I would say this runs pretty similarly to their longlines in size, which makes it a bit small for me. It cuts in on top, but I found sizing up helps. It is a bit wide and tall near my armpits.

Cup depth measurement taken with bra on since the cups are so stretchy

Shape: round, projected, even, close set, on the narrow end of average root width.
Additional relevant shape note for this review: self-supporting

Strictly speaking, this bra doesn't fit, but I know that there can be trade-offs with wireless bras. I tried this first in a 30E, my usual size, and I literally fell out of the cups when I scooped and swooped, so I sized up to the 30F.

    The not-so-great:
    - I'd heard that Fortnight's wireless bras were accepting of projected shapes, but apparently not as projected as I am. The "gore" (well, center of the plunge) doesn't tack, and that's not a huge surprise. It does, however, smush me down ... a bit. Head-on, the smushing doesn't look too bad, and it's really only noticeable staring directly down into my chest, but it's not ideal.

    - This bra really wants either more separate or splayed breasts with considerably less center fullness than I have. Despite the plunge design, the cups want your tissue away from the center and out to the sides. The cup is definitely too wide, but it's functionally a non-issue thanks to the lack of an underwire.

    The good:
    - So comfy! This is my first wireless bra, and wow. It's night and day compared to stiff underwires (of course, the trade-off is in fit and shape). That said, this bra reigns me in just enough that I don't feel uncomfortable moving around quickly or going up/down stairs.

    - The workmanship is excellent, I cannot stress this enough. I had a bad experience with another indie brand, shoddy QC with things mis-stitched, threads coming undone, on more than one brand-new bra, but Fortnight is on point - there is not a single error in this piece. I would say this is absolutely worth the price I paid for it (a "treat yo self"-level splurge). If you can pick this up for anything less than retail you are getting a deal.

    - The materials are GORGEOUS. The stretch lace cups have a beautiful, modern pattern and are surprisingly soft. The sapphire fabric of the band has a rich, satiny sheen and is quite comfortable.

    - The band is firm and true to size on the loosest hooks, with heavy duty construction on the hook & eye closures in the back. Unlike some longlines, it doesn't ride up as it wears, staying firmly in place. Also, front strap adjusters!! Why doesn't every bra have front adjusters, goodness gracious it makes fitting so much easier.

The takeaway: wireless bras are a tough fit, but this isn't such a disaster that I'm sending it back. It looks beautiful, elegant, and it's SO comfortable. This is a treat yo' self win.

Sizing note for the matching, high waist panties: I'm ~28"/38" waist/hips, and the Medium fit with just a bit of extra stretch in the waist. I'd say their panties run a touch small as my best fit is typically a UK 10 or US 6/Small, so consider that when ordering.

I have tried the Fortnight Vega and Luna, and I currently own the Mira. Fortnight is *relatively* better for people with some projection, meaning that it's more projected than most other wireless styles. That being said, most wireless styles are for extremely shallow types (think Freya Deco Soft Cup). Fortnight's styles work best on people who are slightly shallow or have average projection. If you have above average projection it won't work so well.

    • It's so pretty! Gores in wireless bras do not need to tack and are not intended to--the point of gore tacking in wired bras is so that the wires are braced flat against your body instead of digging in at an angle, but when there are no wires this becomes meaningless.
I disagree that wireless styles are all shallow or meant for shallow shapes. The ones in smaller cup size ranges usually are but that is because that size range has a majority of less-projected shapes. Nonwired designs that go higher in cup size are suited to a range of different shapes. I would advise against a deep V plunge in nonwired styles for people who are projected and have center fullness, because lack of wires means the deep V neckline is just two straight lines, and this tends to cut into fuller tissue. But higher-cut cups in nonwired styles will fit a large range of shapes.

    • It looks pretty on you! Lovely bra.

    • I never said anything about "all" wireless bras. I said *most* wireless styles are very shallow.

    • Wow, this one looks gorgeous! I'm hoping to try Fortnight at some point as well.

    • I looove fortnights but band 30 is too tight for me to lounge in it so i need to get rid of mine in 30e :(((((((((
btw this is as pretty as mira in navy and black! looks great!

    • Again Saskia saying "most" are shallow, that is just flat out untrue as a generalization across all size ranges.

I've been keen to try Fortnight for ages cos...well, hasn't everyone?! Gorgeous bralettes that are somewhat elusive due to being Canadian made means it's pretty hard to come by them in the UK. I swapped for this bra cos I thought it'd be a great chance to try for size. When it arrived I was a little disappointed as it wasn't as pretty as I was expecting - pink is never going to be my first choice but the fact the material has a certain shininess to it put me off - reminds me of nasty flesh coloured shiny tights! Plus it looked tiny - I'm ... talking child-size, so straight away I thought it wouldn't fit.

However, it is in fact a great fit. The cups are perfect for me. For a wireless bra I think it's super supportive, It cups and shapes my tissue slightly to give a pleasing natural front cleavage, although as you can see in the side shot it's not going to disguise my FOB tear drop shape, although that's no bad thing.

I wore it at the weekend to lug some boxes around, and actually went out in it today with a thin-ish cotton top over it, and it's definitely the first non-wired bra I would feel comfortable doing that in. I can't say I noticed any more movement/jiggle than I would with a reasonably fitting wired bra - awesome!

I like the length, it really is a proper longline and fits kind of like a crop top would. I do prefer walking in it to sitting/lounging as it does roll up a little if I'm slouched on the sofa.

I feel this is a case of practicality over aesthetics here. The Vega has won me over.

This is such a fabulous bralette! It is very high quality, and fits me very well. The band is very supportive compared to other bralettes out there. It runs tight for a 30, but is slightly too large for me as a person who prefers to wear 26 bands. However, this is not an issue since I only wear bralettes to sleep or for lounging around the house.
The elastic does cut in slightly on my larger breast, mostly due to my tall shallow roots, but I don't think the cups are too small. Perhaps I can try this in a 30E someday and ... compare the fit. It gives a very natural shape, and the cups are stretchy to accommodate asymmetry.
The fabric of this bra is extremely soft. It was designed to look beautiful and be comfortable at the same time.
The size range for Fortnight bralettes are pretty good too compared to SML from other companies. The only thing I do not like is the price point, but this is made in Toronto, which I have heard is a very expensive place to live. I'm lucky I was able to get this in a swap.
Overall, this is a great bralette to consider, especially if you are tired of SML bralettes that have tiny cups and huge bands.

The rumors? They're true-mors. These are great bras, y'all.

Quality: Can't speak for their longevity, but the fabrics are gorgeous, firm, and I feel in no risk of them failing (I've got this in the Ivory/Champagne colourway). All the seams are smooth - no weird rumpling, loose stitches and unfinished hems like you tend to find on Freya bras. It feels like a happy, well-paid human made it, which is always nice.
Comfort: VERY VERY COMFY. I think my ideal Luna size would be a 32E, because I could stand a little more fabric in the cups and the band is, as the previous owner noted, LUDICROUSLY SNUG ... - but with the addition of an extender, this bra fits like a dream. The elastic is all plushy and non-itchy. The band doesn't ride up like a Freya longline, even on my weird-ass ribcage and very short torso. There's a silky, utilitarian ribbon across the tops of the cups that keep them from itching against my upper cleavage region. The straps adjust easily in the front. These designers thought of everything.
Appearance: The support these things lend is, as has been previously established, pretty crazy for a wireless bra. I tend to be self-conscious about perceived droopage and this bra has been a real blessing. It's also pleasantly minimizing for days when you just don't need all that mammary tissue up in your face.

IDEAL USES: I've been using it as pajamas which feels a little wasteful, but it's equally useful as a casual hangout bra. I've always been jeal of girls who can pull off the bra-less look (looking at you, chicks in 80s-90s action flicks): this is the equivalent for the full-bust set. Wear it with cut-up band tees to feel truly punk. It might even be good for dancing when an underwire feels like too much and sports bra isn't an option.
KEY AESTHETICS: Aloof Punk, Utilitarian Chic, If Girls From Action Movies Needed More Support (Ripley from Alien, Sarah Connor, That Girl From the Bourne Identity)

Finally, a good fit! Fortnight bras tend to be a bit too closed on top for me, and the last 30E Luna I had was a bit small, so with this one I sized up. It's great! I fill the cups out and they don't cut in. I think the cups might stretch to fit larger breasts than mine, since they have so much give, but might cut in depending on shape. The band is comfy - fits between 30 and 32. Sizing up did make the cups a bit taller and wider than I prefer, but they aren't problematic right now.

The lace on this navy/black colorway is stunning and unique. Super soft and thin. What they call navy is, in my opinion, more of a deep sapphire color. I own nothing navy colored, but I love this!

The shape is a bit lacking for me, as always, but these bras have been staples for me with sweaters and loose shirts.

well, first of all it arrived quicker from Canada quicker than my EM order from Poland.. so that was unexpected but made my day https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" />
I got another fortnight as Im in love with my 30E - Fortnight » Mira Longline (517-11) and could not resist when I saw it in decent price. I got the full set with highwaited briefs that actually Im not going to wear as im not fan of them but just wanted to see how they will look like.
As it is Fortnight - the quality is amazing. Im not really happy with 30s ... band but they didnt have anything in 32 or 34, however I still can close it and wear but it will need some time to stretch a little.
The cups are too small, so Im getting quadboobs, probably 30F/32E would work the best, but as a lounge bra I dont really care.
The materials are different. While Mira is made of combined soft fabric and lace, the Luna is made like out of mesh fabric. The cups are a little see through. The one thing that I dont like in this bra are the seams across breasts as they're thick and dont look very nice when the bra is on, but once again - with bra that is going to be used around the house only - its completely fine.
Straps are fuly adjustable and fit my narrow shoulders.
So, the next bra that is going to help me go thorugh hours of writing my dissertation and wont leave marks after wearing bra with wires!

    LOVE IT!

I love this bra. That's a good thing, because I have a lot of them.
I've tried most of Fortnight's wireless styles and I really love the Mira. It's comfortable, it's cool for summer, they're all pretty, and the shape isn't bad.
I have some East/West going on, but that's okay. As far as I'm concerned these are house bras that I can run errands or answer the door in. They give my bony sternum a nice break from underwires and I'll wear them on lazy house days.
I could do better with a 30E in this. As it is, it cuts in the center a bit. It's not terribly uncomfortable, ... though it does prevent me from going to the second set of hooks even though I should at this point.
This particular colorway is really summery and pretty. The blue is a great sky shade and it's just feminine without all the bows and frills. The jersey cups are nice and smooth and feel great against the skin. The lace underband is also soft. I do find the powermesh underneath to be itchy on very hot sweaty days, but other than that the Mira is like boobjamas.

I gave up on the Fortnight Luna bra after many failed trials - the cups cut in, sizing up just made them wider and taller, I even tried a few different colors.

I wasn't sure I would have any luck with Mira since many reviews say they're similar, but I like this one! It's stretchy cup fabric seems to suit my shape better than the mesh on the Luna. Perhaps it has a tad more give. The cutting in on top is reduced for me as well. It's a bit wide on me, but overall I love it!

  14. Luna Long Line Bra (431-11)

Beautiful in the black/lime green colorway, but unfortunately runs a bit small in the cup. My first Fortnight was a light blue/beige 30DD Mira that gave me quadding. Thought my normal size, 30E, would be better overall. But this 30E has cups just as small as my 30DD Mira - bummed about that. The mesh material of Luna cups is forgiving, but maybe not so much as the stretchy and forgiving Mira cups. I think a 30F in this color would be best, giving me more room everywhere.

I was dreading that buying this bra NWT in a 30 band would be a painful mistake, but I ... don't find it super tight. It is normal or true to size. It was easy to put on without having to turn the wrong ways.

So while it isn't a perfect fit, it is comfy and one of the only semi-fitting bras i have that I really love the colors of! Also the shape isn't bad. After the Freya Fancies bralette, I felt a little blue about my natural shape.. none of that here!

    • This looks fantastic on you!!!

    • Very useful review, thanks very much for that! Would love to see measurements as well, if you don't mind adding them :)

    • I found almost the same fit characteristics in my review of the AW16 30F - Fortnight » Ivy Longline (673-11) . Band was true to size, cups one size small. Despite the slightly too small cups, I think this colorway looks great on you!

    • 1

Added measurements, though I feel these are always difficult to measure:

30E Luna has about 8.5" depth when I'm wearing it. (8 measured over my knee with less stretching)

30DD Mira is about 8.1 depth when I'm wearing it, so maybe I exaggerated. I dont feel like they fit that differently though

Either way, I 8.7-9" depth would be perfect.

      Thanks guys, I think it's a keeper!

This is a good shape for me. It's a wireless bra, and wireless bras are notoriously shallow. This one is great cause it caters to people whose shape isn't extremely shallow. If you have slight to moderate shallowness, or average projection, you may be able to wear this bra. I didn't like the fabric though it was itchy.

The Mira is a very pliable and soft, soft bra. This one honestly feels like a luxury bra. Despite this, because it is constructed with stretch lace, it does next to nothing for support. I find this one easy on the band, but I honestly just think the way the elastic is attached is what bothers my skin - I don't think other people are as sensitive to elastic as I am, though. I think this is best used as a sleep bra or a "special occasions" bra, as it creates a low and wide profile that I personally don't like under clothes. However, my boobs are pretty heavy and are not self supporting at all. It's a very comfortable and beautiful bra, but doesn't do anything for me, unfortunately.

This Luna is slightly more forgiving as far as the band fit goes - it has more stretch than the black version. Overall, I think the width of the cups is what makes this one a poor fit for me - my boobs are narrow. This has less of a quad effect than the black version, but in this one you can more easily see where my boobs actually are and how far the cup extends past that into my armpits.
I love Fortnight, but their 30 band is closer to a 28.

This is really beautiful. High quality, gorgeous fabric. It's very soft.
The body length is too short for my torso. I can't adjust the straps to sit where I want them without the whole thing being pulled up too high, then my body pulls the whole thing down again.

This is a stunning piece of lounge wear and would be much better suited to someone petite through the torso.

It's comfortable, it's cool for summer, they're all pretty, and the shape isn't bad. The Vega is best for hot sticky weather. It's more supportive than Mira, less rigid than Luna. The fabric is really thin and breathable.
I have some East/West going on, but that's okay. As far as I'm concerned these are house bras that I can run errands or answer the door in. They give my bony sternum a nice break from underwires and I'll wear them on lazy house days.
