Original problem
The band is tight and the gore sits flat, so I feel like I have the right band size in this bra, but I am unsure about the cups.
There is extra fabric at the top of the cup, but it's the more decorative lace part that I'm not filling out, not the actual supportive cup below. I feel like I could take the lace bit in and the cup would still fit me the same, if that makes sense? My breasts are more bottom-heavy, so they tend to fill out the bottom of soft cups first and maybe I just don't have enough left for the top? Is that a style or cup size issue though?
I also feel like the straps are too wide set for me, if I wore them straight up from where they come up from the bra, they would hit the curve of my shoulder (very uncomfortable and not very supportive), and they feel awkward if I move them to sit further towards my neck. Is this something I should look out for in regards to the cup width measurement- look for something smaller- or something else?
(I also just got a Cleo Skye (same size) that I also have the same fabric gap at the top of the cup and not quite as extreme but similar strap position issues, for reference.)

helpfulThis is simply too big. Marcie is supposed to provide tons of "oomph" and support in a somewhat sexy balconnet style and here it is fitting you like a high coverage full cup with very little support. This means the cup is way too loose on you. The numbers confirm this: your ideal cup depth will typically be close to your lying down breast perimeter, whereas here, the cup is a full inch bigger than that number.
Gravity being what it is, you will always tend to fill the bottom of the cup before you fill the top (unless it's insanely shallow at the base) so filling the bottom does NOT mean it's correctly sized for you
In short I think you will want to try one cup size down, 36FF.

Measurements don't really tell you, but if you look at photos and reviews in your size range, that helps!
I personally believe it's not the end of the world if you have a TINY bit of wrinkling or empty space at the base of the cup. Many super supportive and comfy bras have a half-finger's width of overly shallow space down there at the base but will still be an excellent fit overall. You just don't want the ones that have acres of shallow cup at the bottom.

helpfulWell, Marcie is a very full-on-top model. But you could try going down a size? I found the marcie ran a little big in the cup. OTOH, if the lace gap isnt visible through a shirt, i wouldnt worry.

How can you tell if a bra is full-on-top or otherwise? It does gap more than the Skye, so I think I'd agree that the cup runs bigger. I'll probably go down a size then.

Idk, i cant just tell because of how it fits, if its loose on top or open on top, its more for FOT ppl. If it cuts in at the top on me, its either too small, or not FOT enough or both. also, sometimes bras look pointy on people who are FOB but the same bra wont look pointy on FOT people because of its shape
But Marcie is very open on top and that lace is loose on many ppl

> It does gap more than the Skye, so I think I'd agree that the cup runs bigger. This is not necessarily because of the size, but more likely because Marcie is a bra that runs quite open on top while Skye does not.
Also, Skye is made out of stretch lace, and Marcie is not, so Skye will overall adapt better to one's boob shape, but is potentially hiding sizing issues.I fully agree with the suggestion above - size down in the cup for Marcie. And also be careful to order the same colorway - Marcie sizes tends to run very differently across different colorways, some being a full band size larger/smaller or half a cup size larger/smaller than others.

I'm shallow with wide roots and fairly even fullness on top and bottom and for that reason have specifically sought out Cleo bras. I have Maddie, Juna and Marcie and Kali with suit my shape. You appear to be fuller on bottom. I tried Bravissimo's Alana once which severely cut into my breast tissue but looks a similar styled bra to the Marcie. Maybe that would therefor bee a better shape for you? It's one of Bravissimo's best sellers and staples and comes in lots of colours with some on sale at the moment.
Ultimately, how I found the correct style to suit my shape was to search things like '28E shallow' in Google and pick out people's reviews where they might mentions hallow cups is my sort of size. You could try the same for full on bottom and of course see people's reviews on here -
Just want to point out, while Marcie is shallow and wide in smaller cups, its narrow and deep in larger cups.

I wasn't aware of this, thanks for pointing out

I actually tried the Alana, the band runs way too big in 36FF and I had a gore gap and ill fit. I also tried the Mae, which is similar measurement wise and was told the issues are probably due to the cup being too wide for me, and the Alana is even wider than Mae, so... More trial and errory, heavy on the error.
That is a good idea to search for 'full on bottom,' I will try that, thank you :)

Well I'm sorry there have been so many of the errors. It would be so much easier if models of bras stated if they were wide/narrow or suit full on bottom/top. i hope searching full on bottom will narrow it down a little for you.

Now that someone upvoted, I noticed that I have to correct myself on that comment above (URL: http://www.bratabase.com/troubleshoot/di8a7/#suggestion-comment-10264) - Skye is NOT made out of stretch lace. I was mistaken on that. It is, however, made out of material that has more give to it than Marcie and others, so what I said regarding fit etc. remains true for the most part.

I suspected it might be like that from other people's photos but wasn't sure, thanks! I looked up the measurements here before ordering and it said the 36G was 12.5 cup depth, which would have been fine I think since my perimeters are between 12-15 (at least that's what I was advised here previously). But mine is definitely 13, so *sigh* I guess I'll err more on the lower side than larger next time.
I usually do with soft cups too, but the last few bras I tried, which ended up being too small in the cup, I didn't fill the bottom out, so now I just don't know. Is there a measurement that will tell me if a style has a shallow base/wide base? I have to order all my bras online, so that's really all I have to go on.
Thanks, I think that's probably my current Cleo size, since I got a few more bras in this order that also have space at the top.
