  1. Mosaic Plunge Bikini Top (ES33)

If you can't tell from the photos, the bikini is a bright aqua colour with white (outlined) flower and a gold circle in the centre of the flowers and it has some frills on the top of the cups. At first glance the cups looked really big, but they're only a little bit big. For me there's a bit of gaping at the top, but otherwise the cup fits fine. I would describe the shape of the cups as wide and shallow which gave me decent cleavage.

The band was actually quite big, very stretchy. I ordered a 30F, but I would probably ... need a 28 (or even a 26 just to try). So, I would recommend trying this in a band size smaller than usual or maybe two sizes smaller just to be sure. If you generally wear a 30 band size or smaller then unfortunately this top probably won't work for you since the smallest I found was 30 at www.bravissimo.com.

    Tie side brief:
Cute! I bought this one because I thought the regular brief was too frilly for my taste. I usually wear a small in briefs/panties and this seems true to size. It does sit a bit lower, so if you don't already, you may need to shave/wax a bit.

Very pretty. Supportive fabric. Cups are just way too big for me though.

Gorgeous bra, ordered when I didn't know my size and it doesn't fit. Brand new with tags.

I've been looking for bra-sized bikinis for a while, and decided to give this one from Pureda a try, a brand stocked by Bravissimo and some other companies (though I think this particular style is only stocked by Bravissimo). It's a really pretty bikini and I loved the colours - an unusual purple/lime green combination.

Unfortunately it wasn't a very good fit. The band feels extremely stretchy, more like a 32 band than a 28. The cups are also very wide-set and very wide and shallow, so that I was quad-boobing out the middle but had a ton of empty space at the bottom and sides. If I were to actually wear this at the beach I'd worry about popping out the middle. The whole thing seems scaled wrongly or sized wrongly or something, at least for my boobs.

So my hunt for a well-fitting bikini continues. Such a shame this doesn't fit as it's such a cute bikini!

Pureda California Plunge Bikini Set in Yellow/White Top Size 28FF/G + Matching Brief Size S - This underwired plunge bikini top features lightly padded cups for great shape and support, fully adjustable shoulder straps and a clasp back fastening. The matching brief features good rear coverage, flexible fit and removable side ties. Add a ray of sunshine into the summer in your very own yellow polka dot bikini! With its lightly padded plunging shape and low centre front, the contrasting gingham check straps and tie detail make this bikini set super sassy without having to compromise on that all important support.

Please note that ... the tags of the bikini top state size 30F however the cups are generous and run approximately one size large. As such the Bravissimo customer service team advised me to choose one cup size down from my standard 30FF and the cups proved to be a perfect fit. In addition to which I had the original 30 band (which was very generous) professionally altered and the result is a 28" or firm 30" due to the highly stretchy nature of the fabric. Therefore this is best suited for those of you whom wear a tight 30 band + FF cup or the sister size down of 28FF/G. If you currently wear 30FF and are borderline 30" and prefer tight bands then this would be a suitable option.

Pureda is my swimwear brand of choice and as such I have extensive experience with the brand. Prior to changing cup size I previously purchased 3 Pureda bikini sets in size 30F. I can confirm that the cups of this Pureda top are definitely larger in dimension and cut much deeper than that of my other 30F's and the discrepancy in size is clearly visible. The original 30" band compared against a Freya 30" bikini top definitely measured larger in the band. I have measured the altered band as follows. Unstretched in a resting position from clasp to clasp measures exactly 60cm which converts to 23.5". Fully stretched to the maximum length from clasp to clasp measures exactly 82cm which converts to 32". Unfortunately there is not enough fabric to be let out of the band should you feel so inclined. It would be ideal for you to compare these measurements against one of your newer best fitting bikini tops, as this will be the best method in determining if this well be a good fit for you.

This retro set was purchased immediately upon the launch of the Bravissimo Summer 2010 Collection and proved to be an immensely popular style and rapidly sold out across the size range. This rare collectors item is BNWT RRP £46 + the cost of alterations. Bag a bargain and treat yourself to this stylish holiday essential!

  6. Valencia (ed30) (6075)

This is a very retro looking bra. It's truly stunning especially with the matching underwear. The cups are sheer and have a web pattern on them with little golden hearts which adds to it's charm. It is definitely one of the most elegant and supportive bras I own.

The fit of the bra, however, is a little bit off. For starters, this bra runs a FULL SIZE BIGGER in both the band and cup. The band is super stretchy and reminds me of the Curvy Kate Thrill Me bras. The first time around I ordered the Valencia bra in 30G, which is my usual size in most other brands ... such as Freya, Panache and Fantasie. The band rode up after wearing it for an hour and there were wrinkles at the top of the cup. It really felt like a 32GG. To make sure that my assessment was correct, I gave it to a friend of mine who wears 32GG and it fit her like a glove. When I ordered it again, I went down in band size and up in cup size. The 28GG was a much better fit on me. The band was nice and comfortably snug and I filled the cups nicely. But after wearing the bra for a few hours and my breasts settled into it, I did get some wrinkling at the top of the cup. I think a 28G would have been a better fit but I was not going to go through the hassle of returning it again. The wrinkling is not visible under clothes and because I typically go up one cup size during that time of the month, I kept it.

The bra is very comfortable. I forget that I'm wearing it. The wires do not poke and the underarm wings are not too high. Also, the fabric, although sheer, is very soft and does not feel scratchy on my skin. The straps have pretty detailing on them but they are only partly adjustable. I can not get as much lift as I'd like because I have a short torso, so for women under 5"3, this could be a problem. Nonetheless, the style and design of the bra, paired with how comfortable it is, have made the bra a staple in my wardrobe. If you can get it in your correct size, then I highly recommend it.

This a blue mesh balconette bra with lots of embroidery on the cups and ruffles on the strap. The ruffles are a coral pink colour and the embroidery is purple, light purple, coral and peach in colour. I think the embroidery is really pretty and kind of the reason I bought this bra in the first place, although I wish there was less purple since I don't think it complements the blue all that well.

The straps are not fully adjustable, which may be a problem if you need to adjust them a lot. I'm about 5 feet tall, and I had about an inch to ... spare before I ran out of room to adjust them further.

The cups cover more than other balconettes I've tried on, almost like a full cup which I like because it reduces the digging in problem. I had a bit of wrinkling on the seam where the top panel meets the bottom two. Some on the right cup and a bit more on the left cup. I think it would have been less so if the strap was also attached to the top panels instead of only the outside panels, just because the cups cover more like a full cup.

Overall, the cups were a bit big for me, but the bra is cute enough.
