  1. This bra works well for my shallow boobs. The shape is really nice, rounded but in a natural way, and overall it is my favorite bra. Cleavage is impressive but not overwhelming.

The satin-covered straps are very comfortable and the band is firm. I felt it was true to size. The lace overlay pulled the edge of the cup outward somewhat (it is only sewn down at 2 points along the edge) but I remedied that with a couple of added stitches to tack it down.

Definitely a fan of the Masquerade line now because of this bra!

This is my second Alice in the same color and size. Since this is my best-fitting padded true plunge fit right now, I decided to order another one for regular wear. Happily, both bras I own measure and fit very consistently!

    Fits

Alice is such a gorgeous bra that has been on my wishlist forever. I finally took the plunge after doing much research on the size, and I’m glad that I did! It’s not a perfect fit, but I correctly chose a sister size that fits, and the bra looks beautiful. This bra fits like a 30DD.

In terms of sizing, feedback from reviews is that the Alice cups run one size big. My ideal size in this style would be a 28DD, one cup smaller than my normal size of 28E, but I couldn’t find this size anywhere. I ended up sister sizing into a 30D knowing that ... the band would be loose, but figuring that the cups would fit. The band is the same firm satin that is on my Masquerade Athena and Rhea. The Rhea 30 band fits better than this, because for some reason the band on this bra won’t lay flat on me and ends up wrinkled. It is firm, so it doesn’t really move around on me, but it’s definitely too big. I suspect this is because the wings are very short at the back and therefore less stable. The narrow wings at the back should be easy for me to alter though.

The cups on this style are a cut and sew 2HC with a low gore. It’s not really what I would consider a plunge, since that’s usually a 3 piece construction with sloping upper piece. Usually 2HC styles are less projected than 3HC styles, but this style is actually quite projected and is more projected than Rhea (3HC). The shape of the cups fits me well, though there may be a tiny bit of emptiness at the fullest part of the cup. The upper cup closes back in and is not completely open, but isn’t nearly as closed as Athena. The shape of the cup isn’t as center-heavy as Athena either. It gives me a really nice rounded profile. The only thing about this bra that I think is really not suited for me is the height of the outer cup and width of the strap positioning. This is a common issue for me with taller and wider cups, so it’s not surprising, but it makes me a little sad.

Appearance-wise, this bra is lovely. Cups are made from cotton covered foam, and the front is covered with embroidered mesh. The design is of large scale flowers and rosettes, and in the Mineral Blue colorway, they are tonal. The cradle and straps are made from Masquerade’s standard heavy weight satin. This has the plainest gore of all the Masquerade styles I’ve tried, as it just has an ivory floppy ribbon bow. It’s a bit Edwardian and elegant without being stuffy.

Despite some minor fit issues, I am very pleased with the fit of this bra, and am so glad I managed to find one! Now, time to hunt down the other colorway and potentially pick up the matching slip...

    ==========

Update: This fits me much better now, and I've ordered a second one in the same size and color for regular wear. Both bras measure very consistently!

Ah, it's a truly gorgeous bra, and I was so sad that it didn't fit and I had to return it. I should have paid attention to the other reviews about this bra having such wide and shallow cups, but I couldn't resist... The cups on my best-fitting bra are about 5.5 inches wide, and the Alice cups measure 7 inches! I also found the straps too short - I guess my breasts are pretty low-set, but it's hard to believe they'd be long enough even if the cups actually fit. Fabric and construction appear to be of high quality, and the rose and pale gold embroidery on the dark gray background is very romantic. It's unfortunate that Masquerade is no longer in business.

The satiny mineral blue colorway is just gorgeous and so luxe looking. This bra definitely provides lots of cleavage with a very deep plunge shape, and in that respect it would likely make a pretty bedroom bra more so than something super practical for daily wear.

I bought this bra after finding out that Masquerade had gone out of business. It's a very pretty mineral blue color, with delicate embroidery and lovely lacey mesh flower petals obscuring the straight edge at the top of the cup (which helps keep it from showing under clothes).

Unfortunately, this one is too loose in the band. I'm not sure if they start out more snug and this one just relaxed with wear, or if I would need a 28 which was never manufactured, but it is just a hair too loose on the third set of hooks, and definitely shifts on the first set. I will probably try ... and take it in since there's no smaller size available anymore.

I think it's a little shallow in the cups, too, because I get a little of the orange-in-a-glass effect with the crumpling at the bottom of the cup. Because it's too loose in the band, the cups also don't support as well as they might otherwise. You can see in the photos how there is space between the cup and the breast from some angles, so they just aren't quite doing their job. I think, if the band were tighter, the F cups would be just right as far as volume is concerned. The gore is wonderfully low and tacks perfectly well.

You can't really tell in the side shots, but the curve of the underwire is just a little too steep for the shape of my root, but this is a super common problem for me, and if I can't feel the pressure, I usually ignore it. In this case the bra is perfectly comfortable, aside from the little shifting of the band.

    • It's too loose on the tightest hooks?

    • Yep. I have pictures of it on the loosest and tightest set of hooks, and it is too loose on both.

    • That sucks! I didn't wear it very much - it was too loose on the tightest setting for me pretty much from the start. I don't think those satin bands stretch much. Can you alter it? Otherwise it looks pretty nice on you!

    • I think you and I just must need something smaller than a Masquerade 30, that's all! I am definitely going to alter it, though, especially because with less stretchiness to worry about, there won't be any uneven tension with my imperfect hand stitching later on.

    Didn't fit

Oooh, this bra is so pretty! In a fit of excessive optimism, I thought I could fit into a 28E -- maybe with cookies tucked in underneath the girls -- but no. The cups are huge -- probably two sizes too big, top and sides both. The band was snug and not as stretchy as ideal, but I could have lived with that. The straps were also on the short side -- I could make them just long enough, but someone with lower-set boobs might struggle with this. But I love the look of this bra! I'm planning for a special occasion next month; I'll try again in a smaller cup size, and hopefully that will work.

    Didn't fit

The first time I saw pictures of the Masquerade Alice in the graphite colorway, I thought it was the most beautiful bra I had ever seen. This particular combination of pink and grey is one of my favorites, and the embroidery is stunningly gorgeous, both lavish and elegant. But reviews here and elsewhere described it as a wide and shallow bra, so I resigned myself to the fact that it wouldn’t fit me. Until one day it was on sale at zulily in my sister size of 30DD, and I couldn’t resist.

It arrived and actually turned out to be the best fitting bra I had at the time. ... The wires are a little too wide for me, but since it’s a plunge and they don’t come up very high, I don’t find that to be a huge issue. Seeing as how it accommodates my projection just fine, it’s not really all that shallow, maybe about average. (Although I suppose the fact that I’m wearing a sister size could be distorting the fit somehow, idk.) It has plenty of fullness at the center and the bottom, and I don’t get any gaping or quadboobing anywhere. It gives some pretty good cleavage too.

The only problem I have with the Alice is that, sadly, a 30 band is just too large for me. I really wish I had it in a 28E (if only those still existed), but I love it enough to keep wearing it despite the less supportive band.

  10. This bra gives a round shape and an alarming amount of cleavage. The colour is a lovely desaturated light cyan. It's got mesh and lace over the cups while the wings and straps have a sheen. It's very simple and elegant in appearance.

I didn't own it brand new, and it appears to have little life left. The band has stretched out so there are permanent wrinkles along the wings and the gore. Sometimes the cups go wide and I have to adjust the shape.

The cups are too wide for me, and also too high. Plunge styles are higher by default I suppose, but this one kind of rubs against my armpits.
