  1. So Free Lightly Lined Balconette (0117-36007682)

I have so many of this style bra, although this one in particular is my most recent one from last summer. I have a few others still, but they've honestly stretched out too much. It's been my go to bra and the only one that La Senza carries that fits. Or used to. I'm running into the bands bring too stretchy and now that I'm fairly firmly into 30 bands for the most part, the bands of the current ones are too loose and stretchy. Supposedly they're fixing this with newer models coming out.

To be honest, this bra gives me great shape, and with a sufficiently low ... enough top, I have pretty good cleavage...cakes on a plate I think. I'll have to go back and add pics for that. I do find that it slips a little bit, but I'm not sure if it's projection and depth issue or slightly loose band. Or both. And the straps are usually pretty tight. Not fully adjustable. They tend to slip on occasion. Although I haven't added measurements yet, I did measure the width one day recently, and it's surprisingly narrow...like 4.8-5" wide!

My shape is shortish narrow roots with soft and malleable tissue that's also pendulous, and even to fob center full and somewhat close set breasts.

Now, I know that you're all probably saying, this is a 32D...isn't it a bit small for you? Aren't you wearing more 30E/F 32DD/E bras? Well, the answer is sort of. I have a tiny amount of spillage with the D and a little gapping with the DD. And for some reason, the wires and band seem to be better on the D. This is probably going to skew my reference size but I've got two 30F bras on the way (squee!) so that will help with my overall experience and all that.

I have to say that I really do love all of the So Free Lightly Lined Balconettes I've owned, but I so wish that they would extend this line to include 30 bands. My only hope right now is if they really have tightened up the bands and stretchiness and if the unlined version will be out again this summer, as the bands were better with that one.

    • It fits you great and the cups also don't look too small. Weird that they label this as a 32D.

    • Yeah the cups are really quite generous. I honestly think it's a vanity size thing since it is a North American brand/market and we all know how the culture here is afraid of D/DD+ bras. 😂

    • can u input the measurements of it? according to this brands other bras, there other 32D's fit like all my other 32D's... so i wonder if this could be miss labed??

    • moriko Yes, I will post measurements at some point, but I’ve had probably half a dozen of this same style in various colours and materials and always a 32D in them. Even when I try the new ones in store, it’s the same. So I’m highly doubtful that it’s mislabeled.

    • For what it’s worth, when they were offering the 32DD in some other other styles like the perfectly me or the supersoft something or other, that did fit in the cup. Although it did dig into my tissue a little bit but that more the shape. And one style i went to 32DDD and it still didn’t fit. So I think it’s more specifically this style and not across the board with the brand.

    • Hopefully this will work, but here is an album that has 3 other 32D of this same style (just much older and stretched out but I have not tossed yet) and a few 32DD in other styles. The blue one originally appeared to fit but I was not s/s at that point. The red is same size and style I'd been getting but I grabbed it without trying when it was on clearance and I knew it was being discontinued. At this point, it's crazy small on me. The band was much tighter than the previous ones (max stretching is 28" or so) which is partly probably why the cups are also so small. I can actually handle the tighter and now, but cups spilling over badly. Again, way back when I got them, I never s/s (I did lean forward and jiggle in the cups but that was not enough, I found out later).

I don't know if this helps.

      https://imgur.com/a/DD5Q

    • Edit: I forgot that I had a few pictures of a style that I tried probably a month and a half or two months ago so I've just added them. So it's a pretty new style. Sort of a long line or midline. I had it on the tightest hooks and could still stretch it quite a bit. But you can see because of the tag on it it's also a 32D.

    • Calluna, I actually really like most of those bras on you. There's obviously a couple that you're quadding out of, but most of tehm suit your shape really well. I particularly like the black one you tried on recently, and I love the colour of that green one in the album.

    • 1

Thanks Wilderness1. I like them too. The only issue is that they tend to have really stretchy bands, and at this point the 32 band (which is their smallest) is too stretchy from the start. So unless they do actually start making less stretchy bands, I really have to avoid the style. But it does look good. In that picture of me with the black one on, it was all the way on the tightest hug and I could stretch it back at least 3 inches.

    • But I'll say, that if any of those are in styles that I like on one of their $10 sales or supercheap clearances, I'll probably still snap some up because I do like how they look. The problem with their current styles is that there's a lot of external lace and boudoir styling that I really don't give a crap about. LOL

    • yeah stretchy bands suck, but you could always alter them to fit like 30 bands?

    • OK, I’ve added measurements for this bra, but I’ll be perfectly honest and state that measuring is not my strongest point. My hardest things to measure are the stretchiness of the band and the depth of the cups. I really don’t know exactly where to stop when I measure the band stretching. I can’t really see the difference in where the wires are flexing versus distorting too much. I know that this is a 32 band so theoretically it should start at least 32 inches, especially since it’s stretchy. But I’m not keen enough to spot exactly where I should be stopping so hopefully I’ve measured it correctly but I could be wrong.

Its the best fitting mainstreams bra I ever known for my FoB, shallow, extra wide roots breasts. I have a slight distorsion of my ribcage near my sternum so it explains that the gore sits crooked and doesn't lay flat against my sternum. Because of the gaping I out 2 pads in the removable pads pockets and it makes a beautiful projected round cleavage. Depending on the time of the month and weight, slight quad boob effect, but still overall gorgeous. They have discontinued the model and the ones that I have are on the artificial respirator, if you know what I mean. I'm super sad about it and wish to find similar but hopefully better bras in quality.

It's a cute color. The underwire pokes in the cups right where my armpit is after a while, the band is too big for me as I measure 27.5 underneath and it is a 32.
Upon altering the band tighter, the cups don't dig as much if any.
The bra is made of nice soft fabric.

I'm not sure what the name of this bra is. The tag says "So Free" but that appears to be a collection rather than a specific model. As far as I could tell, it doesn't quite match the design of any existing "So Free" bras on here, but I wouldn't know how to add it as I have no clue what this specific one would be called. It has molded cups with floral lace over them and the lace band forms a straight line of lace under the cups. There are no keyholes, little bows on the gore, or other such aesthetic details; it's just padding and lace. ... It seems to be a full cup style.

This is a very old bra of mine from years ago. In retrospect, it has always been a terrible fit—not unexpected when the smallest matrix band size is half a foot too long—but this one was my favorite. Without alterations, the band is so big that the bra is basically a crop top, so it's hard to comment on anything except for the fact that the band is way too long. The bra doesn't give me any support like that and I used to wear it just to hide nipples, not knowing what it meant for a bra to be supportive as I had never seen a sub-32 band before.

It's fairly beat up and has holes and fraying here and there, but I was able to salvage it. The first thing I did was shorten the band. I can't say exactly how much it's shortened by, but my underbust is 26" and it now fits on the tightest hooks, so it is probably a reduction of 4" as it is similar to my 28 bands. There are three reasons why I didn't make it small enough to fit on the loosest hooks. For one, the band had already stretched out so I didn't expect it to expand much more before the rest of the bra collapsed. Secondly, the band isn't a consistent width and it's difficult to cut out a larger section without having an even weirder sudden change in width. Thirdly, the band has become very stiff and non-stretchy now that I've cut so much out of an already stretched out band. This leads to a problem where the tightest hooks are comfortably snug when the bra is on, but are very difficult to hook onto because the band is so stiff that it can't temporarily stretch a bit longer for when I'm trying to put the bra on. I expect that this problem will only get worse if I shorten the band even more, so I don't see it as being worth it.

Another alteration I did was to cut the padding out of the cups, which were somewhat disfigured since I didn't store/wash the bra gently in the past. Instead of adding to the bust to give the appearance of a bigger chest like they're probably intended to do, the cups maintain the same size and squish me down to accommodate the padding. Since it's taking up space that I could use and I don't particularly love that it's molded, I just cut the padding out with scissors and the cups are good now. Actually, the lace that used to cover the cups turned out to be very pretty—you couldn't really see the nice pattern before since it was the same color as the padding and would simply blend in. Now the bra is unlined and see-through.

The last thing I did was shorten the straps. I'm 5ft so the straps not being fully adjustable was an issue for me. I don't know exactly how much I cut off, maybe around 3 inches?

I'm 26FF so this bra is almost my sister size of 32DD and it seems fairly good now that I've altered it. The cups fit well, although the tops wrinkle a bit with certain poses since they do nothing to match my shape, but that doesn't matter. The widths of the gore and wires are good despite the original being 3 band sizes too big, but I'm pretty wide-set so that's probably why I can get away with it. The wires aren't the most comfortable in the world and they've bent to look different but they're fine.

Overall, this bra can still keep going for a little while. It's still torn up in certain spots and it's not a perfect fit, but it's decently comfortable now and it doesn't honestly look too bad—being made of black lace and mesh helps with hiding the imperfections. It was a good attempt at alterations.

The band is too large for me. It moves around and creates discomfort. The straps fall off my shoulders often. It's covered in lace and the band is made of mesh. It's lightly padded. Because it is covered in lace, the material irritates my skin. The colour is gorgeous. One downside is that the bra feels cheap and looks cheap the more you wash it. It is not meant to last a long time.

This bra gives a nice rounded, smooth line under clothes. It's hard to tell from the pics, but it is a neutral fleshy pink colour with gold accents. The stretchy lace band is really lovely. I only wore this bra a few times because the band is quite large on me.

I love the way the bra looks, but it definitely doesn't fit me. It has black lace and a bit of padding, but unfortunately I'm going to have to return/exchange it because with my measurements, the wire digs in and sits too low. That's a mistake in sizing on my end rather than in the construction of the bra itself, though.

    • This "bra review" is not really helpful to others; please consider adding more general information about the bra or yourself (bra shape, boob shape, etc., check out other reviews!) and always consider it should not just be "how this bra fits me" but also be helpful to others too :)

Since it's more of a plunge, and I have a shallow/wider root shape the wires were too narrow, and I couldn't fill up the cup properly.
I don't recommend full coverage plunge styles if you are shallow in shape. The wires poked my side/breast tissue. The band was too stretchy for me.

The color is beautiful, however. I really wanted it to work for me!

Bought this bra during a trip when I needed a strapless bra in an emergency situation. This was the tightest band and biggest cup they had, and I bulged out like heck. My friend tried it on after (30DD) and said it fit very nicely though! The lip of the bra shows under most clothing, but it doesn't slip down!

This is a strapless, lightly padded bra.

La Senza doesn't actually carry my size, so this is my sister size with the band size two larger than my actual band size.

I just needed a cheap strapless bra for an upcoming event.

The cups fit quite well and it stays up surprisingly well for the band being too large - if the band was smaller it would be perfect.

One thing I quite like about this bra is that it has silicone along the underwire under the cups - unlike some strapless bras which just have it along the wings/back. It also has several different placement options for straps - it has a wideset and normal set loops to attach them to in the front and many more option along the back.
