Just for kicks I went to my local Victoria's Secret and feigned ignorance of my bra size. I'm a 28E/F and initially the fitter sized me as a 32B. When that bra fit ridiculously (I pretty much fell out the bottom of it.) she came back with a 32C. I fastened it on the tightest hook and tried to get myself into the cups. Eventually I did...sort of. The center gore was hovering over my breastbone in an obvious tell of a bad fit. When the fitter asked me if I liked it, I told her it was...soft. (Because I've never been a good liar!) She said I might like a push up bra instead. But the bra just clearly didn't fit. All the push up in the world wouldn't have helped. Why are VS so obnoxious in this regard?

  • I'm not sure they're obnoxious as much as oblivious. They're probably quickly and poorly trained because they have a lot of turnover. When I got properly fitted, I'd bet that fitter had twice as much experience as everyone at a VS store combined. They seem to do the best they can, and it's just not very good unless you're in their size range.

  • Poorly trained + selling on commission. They're not in the business to sell you a nice fitting bra, to be honest.
