Dyeing a deco.

I got my jade deco today, and I love it so much I ordered another one. It's not as blue as I thought it would be, but it's still not emerald green. If I dye it with rit dark green, do you think it would be the color I'm after?

  • It could work, although my experience with dyeing fabrics is that it works best on natural cloth like cotton and linnen, and that it gets uneven on polyester and other unnatural materials. There might be dyeings specially designer for this sort of fabrics, but I haven't seen any. Also take into calculation that darker dyes usually shrink the fabric a little, and this is not done equally overall, so you might end up with a flamish colour and wierd shape...

  • You'd have to use a dye that works on man-made fabrics. Usually you have to simmer the garment in a large pot for some time. I don't know what brands there are in the US, but I'm certain they're stronger than what we have in my country. Rit is for cottons, am I right? I recently dyed my 30GG - Freya » Deco Shape Moulded Multiway Bra (1464), (there should be pics of the result) and it worked well on the cups, straps and band, but some parts didn't take the dye (the inside of the cups is what would be relevant to your dyeing adventure). But since it's not a radical change, there's no harm in trying. :)

Staaldrigstill Prova Nitor Allfärg, tillsammans med lite vinäger/ättika för att få färgen att fästa ordentligt. Nitor brukar finnas hos Panduro och en del andra hobbybutiker. :)
