Recommendations Page

I have a question concerning the Recommendations page:

Is there any way to list style preferences? Not just 'Regular' or 'Long Line', etc., but construction types, such as 'Contour', 'Plunge', '2-Part', '3-Part', or lined/unlined/padded, etc., etc.?
Because, it seems that 95% of the bras I get on my Recommendations Page are 2 or 3-part 'Cut & Sew' bras. Now... I do realize this is completely my personal bias here, but I cannot get my head beyond the thought of that's what my grandmother used to wear, back in the day when 'Cut & Sew' bras were the only thing available. My memories of her wearing those things...ooh, it was not a pretty sight...

Which kind of leads me to my next question. So why, after all these years that technology has given us so many other options (like molded, Contour, T-Shirt, Push-up, etc.), why do they still get such a bad rap that it's so hard to get a good fit in one? Wouldn't you think technology should make it EASIER to fit bras properly?

I apologize for the rant, but sometimes I get SO frustrated finding 'The Perfect Bra'!

  • It's extremely hard to find a good fit in molded, foam bras because they are one piece of foam molded by a heat mold and simply cannot provide the kind of projection and support a cut & sew bra can. They will never match your own shape unless your boobs happen to be the exact shape of the mold used to create it, which never happens, and no amount of technology is going to fix that.

I'll never go back to a seamless molded bra. I have many Comexim and EM "cut and sew" bras that are not unlined and the seams are flat locked and invisible under tee shirts. They come in balconette, half cup, and plunge and are also elegant, classy, sexy, fun, bright, and absolutely nothing like what my grandma, who never wore a properly fitted bra in her life, would have worn. The difference between a well-fitting 3 part bra that supports, uplifts, and holds in place while looking sexy as hell vs cramming my projected breasts into a shallow, sad, ill-fitting piece of foam is tremendous. I also have a stockpile of "cut and sew" unlined bras that are beautiful and provide a shape I never would have imagined possible in an unlined bra. My personal favorite is Curvy Kate Ellace, and I'm also fond of my new Ewa BM Neonek. I was 100% against any unlined bra or any bra with seams when I started this ABTF journey, and now I wear more unlined bras than anything else.

  • Well, I also have the Curvy Kate Ellace, and I can't stand how it looks on me. I kept giving it another chance, but I just don't like looking at seams. Even if they're not visible on the outside, I know they are there...that's just my personal preference.
As for conforming to the bra vs. the other way around, I WANT it to change my appearance! At my age, my girls are soft and malleable enough, they'll fit into a variety of shapes, whether projected or not so much (within reason, of course).
As for current technology, wouldn't you think they'd be able to scan a 'real person's' measurements, plug those numbers into the computer, and it would calculate the necessary shape? Afterall, we put a man on the Moon, didn't we?
