    Didn't fit

I had long admired the Parfait Charlotte from afar, knowing that the fit would be a horrible mismatch with my shape. Luckily PetiteCollegiate reviewed the new Floral Shimmer colorway and revealed that it’s actually narrow and projected! So I couldn’t help but order this from Large Cup Lingerie during a sale, especially with the free shipping they provide. It was recommended to size down 1-2 cups for this colorway, depending on your fullness. I decided to size down one cup size since I’m more FoT, and it turned out to be quite correct. I was amazed already when I opened the package at how deep and ... narrow the cups were! Cup depth and wire width indeed measure very similar to a 60HH Comexim plunge.

Although Charlotte fits pretty well, it’s not perfect for me for two reasons. First, the cups close in quite abruptly at the top. It doesn’t cause major quadboob but I'm still bulging over near the center, especially my bigger left breast. And I cannot wear this during the bigger times of a month. I think that extremely FoT/tall-rooted girls may want to stick to their usual cup size, or skip this one. Secondly, the gore is pretty wide. It’s apparently narrower than in the previous colors, but there is still space between the wires. And well, basically any gore that is higher than 5.5-6 cm will sit on my breast tissue. The wires are firm enough to kind of tack, but not so much that they would try to stab my boobs (like Panache ones).

The band runs pretty tight, and it fits me perfectly on the loosest hooks. The cups are very sturdy. Charlotte feels very supportive and pretty comfortable. Still, I can feel that I’m wearing it, and it’s not necessarily something I’d choose to wear on a day off.

As an unpopular opinion, I was not incredibly fascinated by the new colorway of Charlotte, and would have preferred the older dusty rose or peach versions. I just loved those color combinations, and I felt that the seam pattern was more apparent and the style more vintage-looking in the solid-colored ones. However, now that I’m holding this beauty in my hands (or on my boobs) I don’t really mind so much anymore. I have never seen a pattern like this. It's just incredible.

I also got the briefs in size S, because XS wasn’t available (Large Cup Lingerie team told that Parfait had decided not to make them). Unfortunately, these were quite big on me and baggy in the back, so I returned them. However, this bra would look great with any pair of black panties.

Despite small fit issues, I’m very happy for this beautiful and original addition to my bradrobe!

It looks really great on you. Just yesterday I published my review of Floral Shimmer 30DD - Parfait By Affinitas » Charlotte Padded Bra (6901). However I have tall roots so it doesn't fit me. It's too deep and close on top for me. Fortunately older colourways fit me 30E - Parfait By Affinitas » Charlotte Padded Bra (6901).

This is stunning on you! :) I have written to Parfait about the lack of XS panties issue. It's so frustrating! I hate not being able to have a matching set, especially with how cute the high waisted briefs are in this set.

    • AbracaBra Thank you! :) I saw your review, that was a great comparison! The red one does look gorgeous on you. It's good that they have bras to match different shapes!
PetiteCollegiate Thank you, on you as well! :) It's weird that they excluded the XS bottoms, these don't even run small or anything. The lady at LCL also said she would give Parfait feedback about it. Those briefs would be fabulous definitely!

      Nml817 Thanks :-)
When you, ladies, talk about bottoms, I have bikini and highwaisted briefs in S. Highwaisted in Red is ok but bikini in Floral Shimmer is also too big for me. And I'm really surprised Parfait don't want to make it in XS.

Bought from a bratabase user. The appearance is so beautiful yet the bra is very sturdy and if it fit better I can tell it would be wonderfully supportive. I love the relatively tall cups, wings, and gore; If this bra fit it would be probably my favorite bra ever. See my profile page for my measurements and breast shape info!

My fit: Band a little too big on my 26 back, I can fit my hand into it, but it's firmer than a Freya I'd say. Too open in the top of the cups for me, I gape in every position I try except standing up with good ... posture with my shoulders back. Too shallow in the lower cups because after a few hours I feel minor pain in my lower breast so that leads me to believe they are being pressed too hard.

If I grasp the cups and hold them against myself, the cups are filled with breast tissue, so I don't know if that means technically it's not too big, rather it's just too open up top. Straps and cups and wires are too wide: outer lower sides of cups are empty, the top of the cups painfully dig into my armpits big time, and my arms Touch the cups and push against them. Overall it was a miss but it was exciting to try my first padded/moulded/lined/whatever you call these type of cups. I may try to alter the cups to fit better.

    • Gorgeous color on you!

    • Thanks Love4Pollinators !

If you're up for some serious alterations, this bra may still end up fitting you! Charlotte is actually great bra for altering, because there's lots of ways to 'cover up' the bits you did bra surgery on.

I had similar problems with my Charlotte (straps too wide, frontal 'armpit' cup-part uncomfortable when moving my arms).

*Alteration*: I moved in the straps & reduced the outer front cup / armpit part - removing and then re-attaching the shiny satin side sling.

First I used seam rippers to remove the straps and loosen the satin part - just leave this hanging. Then I removed a bit of the foam part underneath. Trial and error how much / at what angle the armpit area works for you - use pins to try on! If it needs some tweaks, try cutting off more foam or pin differently.

Once you're happy with the armpit part, sew this new outer cup edge and try it on again (the satin is still hanging loose btw.) Works? Arrange the satin sling with pins and cut bits off where needed. Then you can re-attach the satin side sling (also helps to cover up your sewing underneath). Finally, re-attach the straps, set narrower and / or at a bit of an angle.

Here's a link to a less specific but more technical explanation: https://www.orange-lingerie.com/how-to-move-straps-on-the-marlborough-bra/

This alteration also made my Charlotte fit smaller, which is why it may solve your gaping.
If not, you could also (alteration 2) lower the cup edge by removing the black piping (or cutting part of the cup and adding new piping).

      (:

bubblegum ahh you are a genius! I am trying to practise more sewing so thank you for this. i may work up the courage to do this bra surgery.

    • Edit: alteration 2 does interfere with alteration 1 (needs to be done at the same time). Pinning is your friend: in the first steps of alt.1, trying on with pins should already make obvious if the armpit surgery helps solve the gaping or not. If so, alt.2 is not necessary but if it is, you can do both.

      Hope this makes sense!

This bra is absolutely beautiful and I wish it fit better. Got the Dusty Rose color and tried it on for ten minutes. My shape: short, narrow roots, somewhat even with more bottom projection, fuller in the center with less tissue on the sides, short torso.

Very comfortable and firm band, largely due to the vertical boning on the wings to help the elastic not roll and cut into you.

Unexpectedly narrow wire width at 5.1". For once, I didn't notice the wires bothering me at all, which was amazing.

The cups are a little shallow in bottom and center for the size--I got minimal quadboob toward the ... center because this was a balconette plunge style and not a full balconette. I don't think the cups run small--if my tissue had filled the top of the cups (meaning if my boobs were tall enough, not FOT enough), I think the volume would seem like a standard 28F.

Tall cups (6" tall from highest point to bottom wire measured vertically). I don't need the top inch of cup at all--the distance from my armpit to inframammary fold is about 5.5", so my breasts are even shorter than that. So, unfortunately, my arms were pushing the bra down so it wouldn't stay in the right place, and when I slouched even a little, the top triangular edges gapped.

The center gore was too wide--I prefer 0.7" or less, or else the wires end up sitting on my boobs in the center.

The straps were a little too far apart, but this is always an issue with me (my weird ribcage is smallest at the top and largest at the bottom).

The construction is sturdy, the design is great, the materials thoughtful (matte cups with satin side support panels) and the bra itself is kind of heavy--the wires are thick and don't bend easily. Overall, wish I could have a version that fit me.

Hope this review, measurements, and photos helped you!

I was really sad that this bra didn't fit! The style is adorably retro and all of the materials are very high quality and look elegant. The cups have thicker padding than most bras. The cups on this are very wide and don't allow for immediate projection. I found that the gore dug in and was incredibly painful. This would be fine on someone who's breasts are further apart. The band was the high point for me. With my 25inch underbust this is the first bra to feel snug on my ribcage. If you are a true 26 this is a great bra to try. If you measure around 28 or 29 I would size up to a 30 band. I wish this bra had narrower wires and more projection! I'm so sad to get rid of it.

    Fits

There's a slight empty bubble above my nipples, but that's just because the bra is a tiny bit more pointed than I am. The cups are also just a bit too "closed" on top for my full-on-top shape, but it's not noticeable under clothing. My left breast has a bit of flatness to the underside, so the wire sits about a quarter of an inch below my left breast, but again, it's my breast shape that causes this. It follows the shape of my right breast PERFECTLY. The depth and width of the cups are perfect, as well, so this is definitely my most favorite bra ever and ... probably the best fitting ever. And at the price of just $36, it can't be beat!! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> I seriously want it in every color it exists in. I honestly think this is the only bra ever that I feel completely comfortable in even by the end of the day. I've had it for about 5 months, and the band has barely stretched at all. Probably one of the firmest bands I've ever seen. Even now, after sometimes wearing it 2 or 3 days in a row (sorry, it was my best fitting bra all this time!) I still feel comfortable wearing it on the first hook. Sometimes, on my less bloated days, I wear it on the second, but mostly still the first. For it's price, this is the holy grail of all bras. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

This bra is so clearly not meant for someone with wide rooted, shallow boobs. The middle of the cups were a little deep for me, while the top cut in at an angle, leaving me with an awkward, pointy shape. Aside from that, the gore came up pretty high, stabbing me in the chest.

I could see this bra working better for someone who is full on bottom.

I officially hate this bra cut. It pokes me in the sternum so bad it's really hard for me to even put it on. After trying it on, other than the poking, it comes up too high in the middle for me to be able to fill out the middle.
The bras feel super sturdy though and I wish it fit me!

Good narrow wires for narrow boobs. Cups don't have that much projection, so add a cup size to account for that. The band is really good and tight, but not too tight. I like the way it looks without clothes on, and it feels really supportive. Unfortunately, the bra itself has a bit of a weird look to the side and you can see the seems under shirts, but a girl like me can't be too picky as it's hard to fit my chest :] The quest for the perfect bra continues.
