  1. Seamless Minimizer (3364)

    Didn't fit

First off, a word about Wonderbra... although one and the same company, a "Wonderbra" means something very different to Canadians than to the rest of the world! Here in Canada, a Wonderbra is usually a no-nonsense, softcup bra. They come in boxes at department stores and generally cater to an older clientele. Just imagine my amusement when I found out that in the UK, Wonderbra is synonymous with plunges and push-ups!

The 3364 "butterfly" minimizer is a wonderful coincidence of inconsistent sizing. The 32D is, believe it or not, a flawless fit to my (usually) 30F figure. For the last 8 years, up until ... my recent professional fitting epiphany, my bra collection consistently solely of 3364's. I loved them to pieces. Simply nothing else in the entire mall fit right.

This is a fantastic bra. Since it's a minimizer style, the central gore is very wide and not designed to rest against the sternum. The shape it gives is gorgeous -- uplifted, rounded, subtly minimized, and with just the slightest hint of cleavage. Under clothes, it's indistinguishable from my Fantasie Esme. The 3364 has soft and satiny cups, and I love the butterfly detailing at the center.

Tragically, Wonderbra discontinued the 32 band size years ago. For a time, I could buy the Bali 3364 (exact same bra) online, until it too was discontinued. Today I get the 34D and alter the band to fit. I'll review the 34D separately

    Pros:
    - Great shape and uplift.
    - The most extraordinarily comfortable bra ever.
    - Price! Since Wonderbra is a Canadian brand, they are inexpensive here. Since Canada slaps tariffs on imports, we pay an arm and a leg for UK bras.

    Cons:
    - 32 (equivalent to a 30) band has been discontinued.

    • As a Canadian (and coincidentally we're the same bust size), thank you so much for this review! Where do/did you find this bra? I've not seen Wonderbra at any of the specialty bra shops and Sears doesn't carry anything smaller than a 34 band, sadly. I'd love to be able to buy and afford a bra I can actually try on first, rather than buying on eBay and hoping it will fit!

    • Sadly, the 3364 is no longer made in a 32 band. I buy the 34 band from Sears or the Bay and have the band shortened by a seamstress. Around twice a year a big sale takes the price of these down to $20 - $25 apiece, so even with the added cost of alterations it's still a very affordable option.

Pre-alteration, it's pretty loose on the tightest hooks, but not absurdly so. You could probably get a reasonable sense of the fit by trying it on that way.

I ordered a 65G. It also said 30F on the tag (can't remember if it was US, UK or both). Wonderbra is obviously converting cup sizes. I wish they'd mentioned that because I know I can't fit into an F. The cups are very stiff and curve in at the top, so they have to completely enclose both boobs. The edges would rub and wrinkle my skin pretty bad. I really liked the shape though. The cups are a bit too far apart, but it didn't look wide or bulky (of course I can't say how a bigger size will look). Some reviewers have had difficulties attaching the straps, but mine were very loose. One popped out when I was trying it on. The band felt true to size. I think I exchanged it for an H/FF (the returns form was confusing). If it fits, I'll probably start with the middle hooks.

In my quest of the perfect strapless, this one is my best find yet.

The colour - a basic nude, very beige - isn't thrilling, but it does its job (note: freya's nude looks MUCH better), which is to be discreet! Oddly enough, the strap are what I call ballet pink (remember your outfit from ballet class? that's the colour I'm talking about), and they really don't match the bra colour. I have this bra in two sizes, and the straps are the same colour in both, so it's not a mistake.

The fit: the underwires are very long, and poke a bit in the underarm, but I have found ... no strapless that don't poke me. The band is firm and made of two parts (see my picture of that detail at the 34E review), and holds everything in place. Comfort is okay, and the band hasn't stretched out too much, but then again, this isn't a bra I wear very often.

The major problem for me is that it comes very high up, and thus can't be worn under every garnment, which is a pity - I hadn't planned on buying TWO strapless buys! (and haven't, so far!).

  4. Ultimate Strapless Bra (9467)

I loved the lace version of this bra, but the 30F (review here: http://bratabase.com/browse/wonderbra/ultimate-strapless-9327/30F/) was too small, so when I heard FF and G cups were being made in the plain version, I went ahead and bought it.

My sentiments about the 30F and this one are pretty similar, but overall, I found this one a bit more uncomfortable just because I felt the silicone lining more than the 30F lace version. My skin has also become more sensitive lately so that may have been an issue as well.

The tops of the cups did dig in a little, more around the armpit area, although I think it has to do more with the shape since I wasn't really spilling out everywhere.

Overall, not bad, and I like it better than the Deco I currently have.

This bra doesn't technically have any underwires. Instead there's a wide piece of, somewhat rigid and at the same time flexible, plastic that goes under each cup, and flares into a hand shape on the outsides of the cup. These pieces have extra padding on them compared to the rest of the cup. Because of that, it's amazingly comfortable, it feels like a firm cushion on your body. I like this bra more than the Deco strapless, since the band feels very firm (as it should), whereas the Deco just feels tight. Also, the silicone lining on this bra doesn't irritate me as ... much as the Deco strapless does, I think it's because of the extra padding.

I did jump around in this bra and it feels very secure.

The downside is that the cups are just too small for me and unfortunately an F cup is the largest size they carry in this model. If you're looking for a comfortable strapless and you're in their size range, I'd really recommend it.

UPDATE: Just saw this on http://www.investinyourchest.co.uk/ The ultimate strapless now comes in cup sizes up to G cup. You can get it here: http://www.belle-lingerie.co.uk/926/Wonderbra/Wonderbra-Ultimate-Strapless-Bra-2999-IN-STOCK/

Pretty comfortable bra. But unfortunately the band is slightly too big for me. Probably 30 band would have fitted better.

Cup slightly cuts into my breast tissue even tho the wire was wide and there was a little bit of fabric left on the side. Strange..
Cup is slightly pointy. Not a big fan of pointy cups.

Wearable but not the best fitting bra.

  7. Dreams Lace Balconette (8088)

I found this bra to be surprisingly wearable considering it is a band size larger than my usual. The band fits well on the middle hooks, so I won't get as much life out of it as a 28 back, but I've washed it a few times and it hasn't stretched yet. It fastens with two hooks, which I always appreciate as I feel three is fiddly and unnecessary for my size.

The fabric is a satin-y microfibre with a lace trim on the top of the cups. Overall it is fairly plain looking. The straps are fully adjustable, so it's good if you have a short distance between ... your shoulders and chest. The cups are cotton lined and it feels very soft against your skin. My only issue with the design is that there is a seam running down the centre of each cup and I find this shows under clothing.

The cups are ever so slightly too small for my larger breast, but fit the smaller one very well. The bra provides good uplift - always a miracle for me as my breasts are much fuller on the bottom. It feels surprisingly secure for a balconette and I'm not worried I'm going to pop out.

The cut of this bra leaves points in the seams that I don't fill (the bra's seam is vertical, and the fullness of my breasts is just not where the seam is, or they don't want to go there). Perhaps it is too large? It fits well across the top of the cup, though...

Another problem for me is that both the lace and prominent vertical dart-seam are hyper-visible under tank tops. I'm generally not huge on lace toppings, and this one isn't very fancy.

To start with, I got the wrong band size, it still took at least a day's wear to stretch out. However, the cups are too small for me, as there is some tissue spilling out. This may run a cup size too small- next time I'd try Wonderbra I'd try a 34G.
The shape did not work too well, as the stiff points on the side were not someplace my breasts filled (probably to do the push-together tactic for cleavage). I'm not sure what shape this would actually fit well, as the cups are pointy.
That said, it's quite pretty. I like the side wires, and could write a better review if I had the right size!

This one didn't fit because I didn't realize that I had ordered the wrong size until it was already in the mail. Oh well, I can still review it...

The Bad: It was very loose, so I'm thinking that I need to go down a band size or 2, but unfortunately, it doesn't come in a 28. Because of this, I'm not sure yet if it's going to be exchanged or returned... The cups seemed a little bit small, but the next size up would probably be too big. The straps were much too long for me, but should be easy to shorten if I end up exchanging.

The Good: From what I can see, it gives a really nice shape. It looks great from the front and in profile. The shape of the cups gives a nice bit of uplift, though there's a little pointiness there too. Overall, this seems like a very good bra.

The cups on this bra don't fit me right. The top of the cups digs in to the very top of my breast tissue. Looking at it next to my Freya Deco, the cups on this one are wider and shallower.

This bra had extremely wide-set cups that felt like they were in my armpits. My breasts are very close together; this bra managed quite a feat in order to push them away from each other like that. It had the widest profile of any bra I have ever had on. Horrible!

Soft peach color with mesh overly. Right cup has lace mesh flower and same lace mesh is on the band. The front and back of the straps has a cute divided strap that merges into a single thin strap.
