  1. Retro Chic Full Figure Underwire Bra (855186)

    7
    like

    32G

    Fits

The Great Amazon Prime Wardrobe Try-On, Pt 2!
My shape: FOB, narrow roots/shoulders, soft tissue, 32G (though I'm thinking maybe more 30G since a lot of these 32 bands are too stretchy for me!)
Fit: Ok, when they say "Retro Chic," they certainly mean it. Though this bra fits me technically, it's not my ideal shape at ALL. It's VERY POINTY! If that's the shape you are going for, this works perfectly and fits true to size. This would work really well if you are trying to get a 50's style, or wearing a 50's costume or something.
The cups and gore are very tall.
Appearance: My first thought when trying this ... one was, "Oh man, this is a granny bra." (No offense to any grandmas on here!) It kind of is, but I feel that way about beige bras in particular. (They are a necessary evil as far as I'm concerned; if I didn't need one badly to wear under white shirts, I wouldn't own one at all!) It's sort of plain, with beige lace all over the cups. There's a tiny bow with a gem at the gore.
Overall: This is really comfortable, but I definitely wouldn't wear it out unless in a poodle skirt costume or something.

Thank you for adding the bra on photo! It really helps with the visual that a bra only picture can't provide.
We have a few on here that are always looking for this exact style so it great that you added it to the site! :-)

    • It's fun, playing "bra dress up" hahah. I didn't take photos of all of the bras I got, as some were SUPER see through and/or way too big.
I feel bad calling this a "granny bra" too, since it actually fit me pretty well. I like the looks of the black version of this one better!

    • No worries! I am sure everyone understands what you mean. Perfect for those concerned with comfort and conservative hidden under clothes look. Something we'd imagine our grandmother choosing as compared to bold bright or wild. I'm 44 with a 22 year old & 4 year old, but I still prefer wild and bold. :-)

Oh man, where to start. This strapless bra is all kinds of wrong. I had high hopes for it at least sort of working, but this is a major bra fail. It’s a very stiff cup bra. It floats so high off my chest at the center gore and it squished my boobs out in an awkward East-West spread. The band fabric is comfortable soft, but with the width of it, it ends up pushing my body fat down giving me back rolls. I didn’t even bother trying it with the straps. I packed it back up as fast as I could to start the return process.

If anyone has any strapless suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate it. In a perfect world I’d have an Ewa Michalak BM strapless bra. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

Curvy Kate Luxe? https://www.breakoutbras.com/products/curvy-kate-luxe-multiway-strapless-underwire-bra-ck2601-biscotti?variant=32040948793447 I don't actually have experience with it, it's recommended by the Lingerie Addict as her favourite strapless bra (of course, she could be paid by CK to say that though, lol)

But I know it's different from all the others because it uses vertical lines, and the BrasIHate blog has long recommended "why is there not a strapless bra that uses vertical lines?" Lol. wow, your tan looks great, California lady!

This is giving me flashbacks to being 14 and only being able to find like 5 sub 34 above DDD bras in the department stores around me, all of them Wacoal, lol. I've also heard good things about the Curvy Kate Luxe but haven't tried it. Maybe Chloe of Fuller Bust Inspo's video on strapless bras will be of help to you, though she's a bit out of your/our size range? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sIC13ETuTg

I've heard great things about curvy Kate luxe but haven't tried it. I tried five or six this summer and the best were wonderbra ultimate strapless and a delimira I got from Amazon. I was looking for a plunge though so there may be better nonplunge options.

Thanks you guys. I’ll check out all the recommended bras. I’m open to try anything if it will get the job done. :)

I had pretty good luck in wearing this bra in a 32DDD, but due to some weight gain the triple D’s just don’t fit as comfortably. While I still love the comfort and style of this very basic bra, I don’t feel I get as much uplift with this size. I feel a little more east-west spread.

I'm shocked at how close together the gore is on this bra!
Also, the back looks sssuper comfy! That gave you 4 hook and eye closures! : ) And the straps and closer to the center, too!

The Great Amazon Prime Wardrobe Try-On, Part 3
My shape: full on bottom, soft tissue, narrow shoulders/roots.
Appearance: I feel like the name of this bra, "Stark Beauty," is a bit off, as it really is a pretty bra. When I think of "stark," I think of a. Game of Thrones and b. harsh and plain. This isn't either of those things, haha! The inside fabric of the bra is a soft beige, and the outer cups are covered with a see-through floral black lace. The gore has this little cut out top part (see pictures) and the straps are stretchy black elastic. This isn't a molded bra, but it ... also doesn't have seams. It's a soft, stretchy unlined style.
Fit: I like that the straps narrow inward as they travel up my shoulders, but that's pretty much the only thing I like about this bra. The wires poke outward on the sides into my armpits and the gore doesn't tack. The band feels pretty true to size, but I think the cups are at least one size too small for me. (Probably a misunderstanding between the UK and the US sizes.)

    • Yeah a US 32G is a UK 32F, so 2 cups too small. I love that inner support sling! I wonder if it would be comfortable in the correct size, or if it would result in being too wide.
Either way, it's a lovely looking bra, sorry it didn't fit you.

    • 1

I'll check to see if Prime has my for real size available for this one! it really is a pretty, interesting looking bra, and I love the strap placement on them!

    • 1

With Prime, it's a risk free venture for sure, but just to forewarn you, two cup sizes up would have the wider set straps for sure. :-/
The plus side is that it provides scaling data here! I love it when we have the same model in multiple tiers in a row, especially when measured by the same person since that shows true scaling (& not just changes in measuring technique. )
So, with that, I'd encourage you to try it in a US 32H (32FF UK) and a US 32I (32G UK) for data purposes. :-D Sister sizing data is also helpful for the same reason. (Only if you're in a statistical bra mood of course, haha!)

I originally owned this bra in a 32DDD, full review here: http://bra.pe/XZVe/

This bra doesn’t provide the best technical fit, but it is comfy! I choose this bra on days I just don’t want to wear a bra, but need more than a lounge bra. The center gore is very high for me and doesn’t come close to touching at the top of bottom. Since it doesn’t bother me, I’m ok with it. Again this is strictly a comfort bra for me. This gives a very nice rounded, seamless shape. Since the straps are further in towards the neck it works pretty good under certain cuts of tank tops. The back band is definitely on the stretchy side as you can see my squish on the back pic, with the lower elastic visibly digging in. While you can see it, I can’t feel it. This is a 32 band, but I say it runs small for 32 and great for someone between a 30 and 32.

This "Basic Benefits" seems almost identical to the Wacoal Basic Beauty (#853192), Contour with spacer cups. The only difference I see is this gore is taller and narrower at the bottom, (3.4" tall, .9" wide at the top, 1.75" wide at the bottom.) It sat way too high on my center closeness.
This one has a single layer band with flocked elastic edges. It has 3 rows of 4 hooks, which I thought was very unusual; I have not seen that in this size except in strapless.
Tall, full cup design. (Doesn't fit my short frame well at all.) There is an inner sling ... along the outer edges of the cups. Spacer fabric gives good support and a rounded shape. Breathable for summer. My past experience with spacer fabric has left something to be desired as far as support is concerned, but this one is the exception. Maybe that's because the front straps are centered closer above the apex, rather than being placed near the armpits. Maybe it's because of the 4 hook band, or all of the above. Still, spacer fabric is stretchy, so good for varying fullness. Did a fair job of supressing nipples, but definitely not completely hidden, even in warm weather.
The band is short in its' relaxed state, but stretches easily when wearing. Might that be an indicator of a short lifespan?
The color "Love Potion/Lilac Snow" is a bright Fuschia Red with just a bit of pink lace surrounding the cups along the bottom, sides and the base of the front straps. There is no lace on the back band.
The straps are partially adjustable, flocked in the back and attach close to the hooks in a "V" shape. No strap slippage here.

Bottom line: the gore sits on my center-close breast tissue when I stand up, but it falls away (stops tacking) when I lean forward. The full cups are uncomfortable on my short frame. I'd like to find a spacer cup bra that has a low gore but good support. I'm afraid it doesn't exist, since it seems that most of the support in a spacer cup fabric has to come from a tall gore/the wide band.

This was my very first correctly fitted bra! I tried it on in the store and couldn't wait to get it home! The cups are very comfortable and the bra itself is very supportive. However, I still have some digging in the gore and under arm area. I believe this is not a size issue but I do think it has to do with the tall cups on my frame. My collarbone to nip measurement is 8 inches so I think I will have to look for shorter cups.

    • I have started replacing Wacoal wires with Bravo Bella wires (size 42 is very similar to what Wacoal uses in 32Gs). Bravo Bella wires are shorter at both the gore and wing plus they are flexible. What were my favorite, uncomfortable bras are now my favorite comfortable bras. Wire length makes a huge difference :-)

"Almost" fits, except for the tall, wide gore which doesn't tack.

    The good:
Soft, comfortable and tall band. Handles back & underarm fat surprisingly well. Enclosed elastic. Three hooks.
    Fully adjustable, flocked straps.
Inner sling inside the layers of fabric of the cups adds outer support. Seamless fabric, both inside and outside cups. Sensual feel.

    The not-so-good:
Tall cups rub a little under the front of the arms. (But because the fabric is soft enough it's not painful.) They also look matronly for being tall. Certainly not the best look for a short torso.
Long wires, which contribute to the gore being too tall.
The cups are very stretchy, which on one hand accommodate unevenness very well. But the stretchiness compromises the support.
    No hiding firm nipples.

After having pretty good luck with Wacoal’s Basic Beauty, I grabbed this up in my current size range of 32G since it reminded me of the basic. Very plain with no added fuss. This bra screams comfort! The cups are pretty forgiving and can accommodate some weight fluctuations, perfect for me at this moment. The straps are soft and flexible and situated such that it’s not too far apart, but not as close in the back as the Basic Beauty. The band is soft and doesn’t dig in. Over all I’m happy with this fit and how it looks under clothing. I do get a considerable amount of bounce when I walk fast, so ladies with naturally large breasts might not feel very well supported in this.

This review is for the color: Sand/Ivory

I picked this up after having great luck with Wacoal’s Basic Beauty and Basic Benefits. For this particular bra I had to size up to a 32G. At this point I’m not sure if their other bras run big in the cup, or this one runs small in the cup (which I’m thinking is the case). Nonetheless I have this in 32G. The straps are on the thin side for being a G cup with the first half of the strap being reinforced with a non-stretch material. I also find these straps run short and most likely won’t adjust long enough for ... taller ladies. The band only has two hooks even in this size. The cups are pretty thin for a moulded cup with a less forgiving edge sewn along the top of the cup. One of the reasons I opted for a G and not a DDD as with my very round, center full breast I had major quad-boobage with the DDD. I’d say for me this is a pretty good fit. I get more lift and separation with this size. Will be perfect for under dresses and shirts where I need a smooth cup with wider set straps. Quality is pretty good, but the lace might pill with constant wash and wear as it has on the soft cup Embrace Lace I purchased secondhand.

Isn't it funny how simple/plain cups are so much more appealing when the band is pretty? I do love the lacy band.

    • 1

MamaPagan I totally agree with you. I think that was one of the reasons I even tried this bra. Sometimes wearing my basic workhorse bras gets boring. My husband even said “I like that. Looks really nice.”. After wearing it more the wires are a bit too wide, but in a pinch it gets the job done. I needed something with wider set straps for more open necklines where my Basic Beauty bra just doesn’t cut it.

    • 1

As long as it's comfortable and serves it purpose then it's a worthwhile purchase for sure. The cute band is just an added perk! :-)

    1

The lace back on this is beautiful and the key feature of this bra. Tall wings blend into triangular lace up the straps. The band is snug, true to size, bandless in the front, and two layers in the back. The underneath layer is your typical stretch mesh with elastic edges, with the top layer being the stretch lace. This helped to minimize back fat better than I expected.
Unlike the Wacoal 'Lace Affair' whose contour cups are shiny stretch satin, the cups on this 'Fire and Lace' have wider wires, non-shiny stretch satin, contoured foam, barely 1/8" (not spacer fabric); not enough thickness to ... add volume but provides nice modesty and a nice rounded shape (possibly slightly minimized). I had no marks from anything rubbing. The cups fit center fullness very well, but the straps are so wide that the outer edges of the cups rub against my armpits and cause crazy gaping when I roll my shoulders forward. Otherwise, with perfect posture it fits fine.
Another cool feature is the straps adjust in the front; SO much easier to reach. I wish all bras were designed with this feature!
Athough this is not labeled as a plunge, the gore is low, but not too wide at the bottom.
The color 'Flint' is quite pretty I think...the closest I could describe it is a soft dusty purple. It was 'almost' invisible underneath an off-white T-shirt, so I consider the color as neutral.

  12. Seduction Spacer Underwire T-shirt Bra (853255)

This bra is ridiculously comfortable. It's also the only molded bra I've found that will fit my shape well. Since it's a spacer bra the fabric is very soft and pliable. It gives a very nice, rounded shape under clothing.

My only problem with it is that the band is very stretchy. A 30 band would have been perfect.

  13. Seduction Demi (851155)

To be honest, I didn't think I would like this bra much because it looked like a whole mess of scratchy lace, hanging there on the bra rack. But I was determined to give any bra within my size range a chance, just out of curiosity.
Well, the Seduction bra certainly surprised me, because I was pretty sure it wouldn't even come close to fitting me. But I put it on, scooped and swooped, and there were my boobs, firmly supported, ta da. Although a tiny bit pointier than I'm used to.

What I liked about this bra: the band, mostly! The wing is longer than most of my other ... bras (except for a couple of longlines I have) and I really like that it comes up on my sides. There is also boning on the sides, for extra support, I assume. The underwires are pretty long, so they go right up to my armpits, collecting the tissue there, but without gouging out my armpits. In general, my breasts just feel really firm wearing this model.

What I don't like about this bra: the material could be softer. It might soften up after I wash it, though (I haven't worn it enough yet). It's definitely not designed for v-necks, as it lifts and separates more than brings your boobs to the front. And there's the aforementioned pointy factor. I'm wearing this on the middle hook, and it's only been the third wearing - but it could be due to me losing a half inch around my underbust recently. The 32 band is tighter than some other 32 bands I've tried, so you might want to keep that in mind if you're in between sizes.

I admit I've been unfair to Wacoal in the best, only because I encountered what were I thought horrendously narrow 34Bs and 32Ds, not realizing I was simply wearing the wrong dang size :/

[ETA]: Another one for the quadboob collection, sigh.

I tried out the Wacoal Alluring bra, because even though it seems rather boring in appearance (beige! full coverage! yawn!), it looked vaguely similar in shape to Wacoal's Inspiration model, which I love as a comfort bra. However, upon closer inspection, beyond the full coverage aspect, the two models are nothing alike.

When I first put on this bra, I noticed right away that I had to use the tightest hooks for my desired fit. So far that has been unusual with me for Wacoals in a 32 band. Usually they are snug enough that I can use the loosest hook (leading me to think that Wacoal bands ... run tight, because I'm in between band sizes). Anyway, I arranged my boobs in the bra and studied how they looked in it. Not bad. A little… retro, what with the seams and the full cups and the beige everywhere. The texture pattern is a nice touch, I suppose. My boobs were definitely lifted and separated, and felt fully supported.

I moved around some and that's when I felt it. OUCH, right in my sternum. It was sneaky, because I didn't notice it at first. But then after a while, the gore seemed like it was frantically trying to burrow its way into my chest. So much for lounging around or sleeping in this thing! A shame really, because the rest of the wires followed the outlines of my shallow breasts quite nicely (much like the Inspiration), even up into the armpit area. And once they got into the armpits, there was no breast tissue trying to sneak its way out!

Upon measuring, I realized the Alluring had the longest underwires I've encountered on my recent bra fitting adventures: 13 inches. It was also the first bra to give me stabbing gore issues. Lop an inch off each underwire, and it probably would have worked! The rest of the bra was quite comfortable, and I would've considered the comfort level marked down as "excellent" if it wasn't for that.

  15. Inspiration Underwire Bra (855187)

The first thing I noticed about this bra is that it is very comfortable. I haven't had too much luck with Wacoal bras in that usually the material is too scratchy and depending on the model, my breasts end up kind of squished and separated rather than lifted but brought closer together. Often I've found the cups to be too narrow, but that may have been because I was trying on the wrong size.
I really want a bra to get up on there in the armpit area and this model does just that. The underwire is longer than what I'm used to, but the gore does not stab ... me in the sternum. My breasts seem perfectly encased in smooth deep purple fabric. I'm not going to lie you: I probably petted my breasts for a couple of minutes after I put this on, so entranced was I by this smooth fabric. I love the deep purple color, too!
However, this is no cleavage enhancing bra. It does the job of separating and containing my boobs, so I have put this in the category of being a practical full coverage bra rather than a ~*sexy*~ bra. I haven't tried sleeping in it yet (because I normally don't sleep in bras) but I have tried exercising in it (push-ups, crunches, hand weights). I didn't experience any weird pinching, and the bra didn't ride up, shift or stab me in the sides. One thing I noticed is that when I lie flat on my back, the bra keeps my boobs contained. This never happened with my old (pre-new-measurements) bras! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_surprised.gif" alt=":o" />
Another observation I made is that the band is tighter than what I am used to in a 32 band. Not that this is a bad thing! I measure at 31, so I like to try out 30s and 32s, and most 32s I have to put on the second tightest or tightest hook. I don't have to with this bra, so I have a feeling a 30 band would suffocate me lol.
In conclusion: if you have bottom-heavy, spread out breasts like mine, even if you have had poor luck with Wacoals in the past, give this bra a try.

The bra is comfortable and none of it itches or irritates my sensitive skin.

The band fits snugly for my 29 in. ribcage and the underwire fits well on the sides.

The cup material is soft and it is one of my most comfortable bras.

This and another Wacoal are new bras for me. I purchased them at Bella Intimates in Rye, NH. For both bras (I'll enter the other later, I don't know what it is right now), the wires seem thicker and stiffer than other bras I've recently bought or tried. Also, they seem to be more of a deep U shape with the tops of the U aligned, while other bras I've tried recently are more of a wider U and the tops are not necessarily at the same height. This one seems to be like the other where the tip of the wire under the ... arm presses into my body a bit more than I'd like. I was able to wear the other bra all day, though it left a red mark in that spot on each side. I think this one will be the same.

This one is snugger than the other Wacoal, and Shelley at the shop said it is some sort of fabric (I forget what sort) that will ease after some wear. It's comfortable enough on the loosest hook, though we'll see how the day goes. It was hard to measure this bra unstretched as the band curves a lot. The 24 inch unstretched measure was sort of the midpoint. It stretches out much more "flat", so it's easier to see where the measure begins and ends. You can see that in one of the detail pics. Both ends are like this.

Today is my first day wearing it. I will DEFINITELY be snipping the tag out of this bra, it is irritating. I used to wear another Wacoal (in the wrong size) and always snipped the tags on those too. Seems to be a different material than, say, the Fantasie bras.

The bra itself is pretty enough, but not "cute". It provides somewhat more forward projection than others I've had recently.

The underwires are a bit wide on the sides for me, but that doesn't cause discomfort. The lace trim on this irritates my skin, especially near the underarms. The fit is fairly good, but the trim makes me avoid wearing this one.

I originally reviewed this bra in size 32DDD, review here: http://bra.pe/XYuC/

I purchased this bra as a comfort at home bra when I need something more than a bralette. This bra is very comfortable and gives a very smooth silhouette. After owning several of these bras, in various sizes and colors, I can say the band does stretch out with regular wear and will look well loved with regular washing. It’s still great to me and I do reach for it over a bralette.

This bra is not owned any more

    A workhorse of a bra!

    * Stretch satin microfiber outside cups. Plain stretch microfiber inside cups. Thin layer foam bonded to inside, just enough for coverage. The cups have just enough stretch to conform to your shape. Great rounded shape without looking like bowling balls!
    * Very firm wires. Don't flex much at all! Great support! No need to readjust during the day.
    * Gore is nice and low. Stays out of the way of center closeness. The bottom width of the gore matches my IMF perfectly https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />)) Very comfortable, I forget it's there.
    * Limited stretch band. Beautiful lace outside, sheer mesh inside. Has stitched ... "boning" (fabric only) under the arms. Exposed elastic top and bottom of band, but flocked and soft. Ballet back. Great support!
    * Flocked straps are limited stretch. More than 5/8" wide but less than 3/4".
    * Overall design of the bra suits a V-shaped torso so much better than most.

I have many of these bras, in many colors, for many years. All very consistent in sizing. And they don't stretch out with time!
There's only two things to say about their wearability. #1: The fabric in the cups do tend to take on deodorant stains more than other bras I've had. (But I've had good success with Shout Advanced Grease Busting aerosol spray). #2: The wire casing and elastic will pill up from friction, probably because of the flocking.

    • Hi! I’m considering getting this bra. Would you say this is better for someone who is FOT? I’m a 32F (UK) which works great for unlined lace bras but have found that for molded bras (only tried one brand to be fair), I had to take 30F and add an extender. I’m FOB, even fullness on top but don’t do well with bras that require FOT. So I’m wondering what size to get. Are you also one cup or band size down for unlined lace bras?

Also does the seam on the top of the cup show through t-shirts? And are the cups very close to the armpit area/ tail of Spence?

    • I would say, in an ideal world, someone with self-supporting even fullness would get the absolute best fit with the Lace Affair. But it works for me because I am somewhat FoT with settled tissue, so it more or less behaves as if I'm FoB.
I don't think you'd see much of the seam along the cup edge... it's barely noticeable on me (certainly a lot less noticeable than a 3-part seamed cup). And the outer cups don't bother my Tail of Spence; I think it's a combination of the cups being soft and flexible, the wires are not rigid, and the band is supportive and not too tall.

As for unlined or lace bras, I really only have one of each because they generally bother my skin (lots of allergies!). But in my unlined bra I could have gone up in the cup and with the lace bra I should have gone down in the band. So the size really depends on the particular bra.
      I hope this helps! :)

    • Thanks so much! :) does this bra have any push up effect at all?

    • You could say there is a pushup effect because it gives nice lift, but there's no push-up padding whatsoever. It's thin (about 1/8") foam throughout. The inside fabric is bonded to the foam and the outer cups are covered with stretch microfiber low-luster satin.
