I have been hating all my wired bras so I wanted to try some unwired options. Uye Surana does bralettes in actual bra sizes and also does custom sizes. So through email I sent my measurements and we agreed 28I would be best. When I received my bra it said 26I. The band stretches over 26ins and the cups fit right so I think they mislabeled it. Its a pretty lavender with cream color lace but provides no support. They say that their bralettes are engineered to support. The elastic band is pretty thin, and digs in after awhile but not as bad as others I have tried. ... The cups fit so it prevents the band from digging in too much. I do not much inner or upper fullness the criss-cross straps don't look good on me. The construction seems a little sloppy like the band width is different then the fasteners and some loose stitches. I also don't like how the seam sticks out above the band which is part of why this is uncomfortable. I think I might sew a wider piece of elastic on the band.

Those straps look tiny. How do they feel?

    • 2

the straps don't bother me much but I'm self supporting so they don't pull the straps. I definitely don't think this will work with heavy boobs.

    • 2

Probably not. I’m just surprised they said it is engineered to support with such tiny straps and band.

    • 4

From the brand pics it looks like they use wider straps for bigger sizes.

I think what I'm surprised at is the white clasp. I thought a bra at that price point would have dyed to match fasteners.

I remember petite collegiate had one of this brand's bras and reviewed it and got a lot of kick back from ABTF because commenters said it mostly looked half assed, half done. Loose threads and uneven stitching, thread colors that don't match, uneven cups, bunched fabric, etc. I wasn't impressed back then and am still not considering the price point of this line as well. It's a lovely concept, just doesn't look "engineered" or well thought out, really.

oh dear that is disappointing about the quality and the discomfort from the elastic! This is the second time in a week that I've seen someone mention one of their "supportive" bralettes not feeling actually supportive. I realize sometimes customers have a more expansive idea than bralette-makers of what is meant by support--they may expect actual lift, a degree of shaping, etc. as opposed to simply containment and relative immobilization. But a successful indie maker should probably take that into account, and realize that a bralette that offers just a light hold should not be marketed as "extra supportive"...! If I see that I expect it to really do a solid job.

If it's any consolation, in all the stock photos I do not see the decorative straps fitting across the full part of the breast. They seem designed to sit further above your cleavage.

    • 3

cupandahalf at the very least they could have used white thread on the white fastener... it’s really not hard to change thread colors

    • 2

I wish I looked at all the bralettes before I ordered this one. Some do have thick bands but this one was on sale. I thought with it being an "I" cup the band/straps would be thicker than shown. I can't imagine the larger bust models are comfortable. If I wasn't self supporting or not center full this would not contain my boobs.

    • ......aw man...I'm thoroughly disappointed after seeing this......the price point is ridiculous for something that looks like it has been sloppily thrown together and graded by just extending the pattern via 5 centimeters for each size...no curves.....wow....well if you can afford this price point and like watching for sales, check out www.impishlee.com they will also do custom sizes and they have you customize it, what fabrics and colors you want etc. They do both bras and bralettes.

I am doing okay on the bra front so I wanted to dip a toe in the bralette pond. I have to say, I'm impressed. I was expecting a nice looking, lounge-around-the-house, lacey little number with negative support. What I got was a surprisingly supportive, sturdy, very sexy and very comfy bralette that I'd feel comfortable going out on errands in (but not quite trampoline jumping or work quite yet). The price point is a little steep and it did hurt a tiny bit paying for it but I have to say, upon receiving it. It's totally worth it. The customer service at Uye Surana was excellent and they custom made this bralette way outside their regular size range. If you can afford to get it (or feel like treating yourself to something gorgeous to layabout the house and feel sexy in), DO IT. You won't regret it.

I got this one as well, and I absolutely love it! You're right, the pattern is fabulously supportive for such a pretty bralette :)

    Hasn't set fit

I've been wanting to try this for a while because of the minimalist back, but I wasn't sure how it would work out as a 26FF. My sister size, UK 28F/US 28G, is a M/L according to the Uye Surana size chart. But I thought I might as well try XS/S too since 28 bands sometimes feel too stretchy.

XS/S is too small in the cups and feels tight even with the straps extended all the way, but the band is fine. It might work for a 28E though.

The M/L is more comfortable, but the cups are a little too tall and the band is too loose. I like the color and strappy back, plus the lace is almost smooth under clothes, so I'm going to see if I can get the band shortened somehow.

I contacted customer service about sizing (because a S/M would have been nice but that's not on the table) and they said they would let the designer know that there is interest in 26 bands.

This has quickly become my go-to summer bra! It's comfortable and beautiful. Sizing is true to size in the band, but runs around a cup size large in the cups. Quality is excellent, as is breathability. This style does contain boning.

I absolutely adore this set. It's the perfect mix of demure and daring, and I love how supportive Uye Surana bralettes are. The quality is lovely. Uye Surana's sizes run a bit large. I typically wear a UK 26FF and this is a US 26G. They chose this size for me when I emailed them, and it's perfect!

      The strappy back is cool!!

    • 1

I love lingerie that has interesting backs! So many pieces seem to forget about that part, and it's always nice to have something that goes well under a low back top.

    • 3

I really enjoy you blog posts! You're always reviewing the most interesting things that I would NEVER wear. (Not much call for strappy bralettes for this SAHM of two little kids...LOL) I wonder, sometimes, where you're wearing all these sexy, strappy sets. If I wore this under my usual tshirt and jeans, I would be a mess of lumps and bumps. I'd look like a trussed up holiday ham....hahaha! You look great, though!

    • 3

I've worn this one by itself with high-waisted shorts to a music festival, under loose sheer t-shirts or tank tops, poking out of a wrap top, and with a dress with a low back. It hides perfectly well under clothing with loose or thicker fabric, but I wouldn't wear it under a skintight t-shirt. I do try to work all of my pieces into outerwear or as accessories, because it seems a shame to cover them up all the time! But at the moment I'm in a life stage where modesty isn't much of an issue.

MissV "trussed up holiday ham" I spewed my cold SAHM coffee. :-) :-)

    Didn't fit

Really love this bralette! I'm very glad to have a "underwear AND outerwear" option in the full bust category that isn't a total let down. I have been happily wearing this under sheer tops and with low back or backless casual dresses, and it looks totally intentional and cute.

It feels upscale, adult, slightly "alt," and well-made (it looks so much less juvenile than comparable Freya and Curvy Kate models, and the overall craftsmanship is nice), and is extremely comfortable, allowing your boobs to take their natural shape with a hint of support. This is not a bra that's gonna lock and load 'em, but if you're just looking ... for a hint of support, coverage, and lift, it does the trick.

However, the band is already a little loose for my taste when adjusted as short as possible. I typically wear a 30F and prefer a snug band, but occasionally will opt for a 32 in very tight-fitting bras. I'm right on the cusp between their XS/S and M/L sizing (30F is M/L, 30E is XS/S), so I may give the XS/S a shot, but I suspect the cups won't fit given that they're perfect in the M/L. Overall, I'd say the M/L band only adjusts down to a true 32, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is more of a 28/30 cusp.

First of all, this bralette is gorgeous. The "honey blush" color of the silk and lace is stunning, especially with the sheer white floral embroidered mesh. I really like the lattice detail as well.

The band and cups are both TTS. I'm so glad Uye Surana makes custom sizes! The cups fit well and in terms of shape, have a minimizing effect. If you're between sizes, I recommend sizing up since a too-small size would give some sideboob.

The matching knickers and crop cami are great as well and the whole set looks so nice together. I don't have many pieces that follow the strappy trend, but I'm happy to own this one.

In terms of construction quality, I know there's been some disagreement about other Luna sets, but I found mine to be really well constructed. YMMV, I guess, but I own a whole bunch of Uye Surana stuff now and I'm super happy with the quality of everything.

This beautiful set of bralette + knickers + crop top was made by indie company Uye Surana. I contacted them about having it made in a custom size, 26F, and they were very agreeable about it. The set is made from a layer of white lace over yellow mesh, and has white silk to form the cups. There is no underwire, but the bralette has curved seams to form the bottoms of the cups, for a little more support. There is also boning on the sides. Aesthetically the set works very well together.

Fit-wise, I have no complaints. The band runs a little small and the bottom edge of ... the longline band does not stretch at all, so be aware of that. I found it to fit me very securely on the loosest set of hooks. The straps are pretty stretchy and adjustable. The mid-rise knickers (in XS) only have elastic on the sides and not all the way around, so they are a bit tricky to get over my hips but they fit well once I've got them on. Matching knickers are also available in a high-cut style. The crop top (in XS) also fits me well and really complements the other pieces.

My only real complaint is about the elastic that was used. It's very wide but thin, and it tends to get bunched up while I'm putting things on and it doesn't like to flatten out again. Other than that, a high quality set that fits well and looks great.
