I purchased two versions of the Delicate Doreen; a white in 75G and a black in 80F - Triumph » Delicate Doreen Non-wired Full Cup (10135874). The purpose was to compare the size and fit of these two sister sizes. It is to be expected that the two are very similar; however, the white has 1cm more depth than the black, but is 0.5cm shorter. This tracks with the fact that higher sister sizes result in shallower cups, although the white is still wider. The black has a little more wrinkling in the bottom of the cup, and pushes my apex inward about 2cm, making it ... show quite obviously in the top. In contrast, my nipple sits along the seam quite comfortably on the white, with probably 1cm from its own apex. The gore also sits much closer to my chest, with about 5mm lift from the underband, as opposed to 8mm on the black.

It's worth noting that the black and the white are both equally stretchy (about 21cm); however, it's true that the black does feel a bit denser - I read that the dyeing process alters the properties a little, but I think it's been well compensated for. The black has less wrinkling in the band, which is understandable since it isn't stretching as much as the white is. But I'm much happier with the white's support, both in the band and the cup, so I think that's a clear winner for me.

A nice molded cup bra with removable cookies; gives me a little lift with the cookies in place. The straps are VERY nice intricate cut-work embroidery. They are pretty thin, so they like to roll up a little, which makes it a little more of a challenge to get them flat and set right when I put it on. The wires are a little narrow, but not too bad. Another keeper from Scharminkeltje!!! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

I have a review of this bra on my blog http://curvywordy.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-quest-for-sleep-bra-triumph-doreen.html but can't link it as I have used it for the 36K I have already listed on this site.

I was really impressed with this bra and the support it offered. However, for me the 34K had a band that was too big and cups that were too small. Unfortunately Triumph do not make this bra above a K cup so either I compromise and settle on this slightly ill-fitting bra or I continue my seemingly never-ending search for a non-wired bra to wear around the house and in bed.

Please note that Triumph manufactures its bras in European cupsizes. Theoretically a EU-K-cup equals a UK-GG-cup.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cupumrechnung_en.png

I'm thus not surprised that you found the cups too small.

    • 1

Thank you for your comment. I did not know this - it seems crazy that the size in the label is shown as the UK size but in fact this is not the case. Very odd.

    • 1

Royce makes some softcup bras up to a true UK-K cup. This is what I can recommend trying.

    • 1

I had the chance to see a Royce sports bra in a J cup and it ran *very* small. It led me to believe they were running under US or EU system.

This is a good comfortable everyday bra. The 1" straps are comfortable and firm. I always keep them on the shortest setting to keep my bust high and minimise bounce. There is no underwire. The wings at the side are wide (5") and provide good support with their bone. This is a full bra and I can only wear it on the shortest hook setting.

As far as non wired options go, this is one of the best. It fit me perfectly when I was wearing H cups, but now I’m HH/J and it’s a little too snug. It’s still wearable, though! It’s actually one of the only 36H bras I can still comfortably wear.

The support and shape are very nice for a soft cup bra. I have found most soft cup bras are painful in the band and straps and create a very pointed east-west shape that makes my breasts easily bumped into by my arms (the bruising on the outside of my breasts is awful!). By contrast, the Doreen provides ... a slightly rounder, more front-facing silhouette with a good amount of lift. (Still definitely a pointed shape, but less egregious than most others in this category.) It’s nicely supportive, and it distributes weight comfortably between the band, the cups, the straps, and the “gore” area. The center doesn’t tack, since it’s a soft cup, but it almost does. This bra does a darn good job overall. I get a bit of starburst wrinkling near the nipple now, but I didn’t when it fit me correctly. The cups are just flexible enough I can mostly squish my breasts into the right shape inside them.

The Doreen has held up nicely over the past 2.5 years, despite being machine washed, and it seems to resist staining a lot better than all my other pink and nude bras. I might try to find another in my current size. It’s also surprisingly pretty for what it is. It’s not sexy exactly, but it’s a nice everyday kind of bra if you can’t do wires or want something you can throw in the washing machine. I do hang it dry, though.

The bra has a really pretty lace pattern and has soft materials and wide straps (yay!), but does not fit me. It's a 2-part cup with quite elastic materials. The band is loose for a 65/30, as when I wear it on the tightest hook it rides up.
The cup size is also too big, so the wires go past my breast tissue under my arms and the gore is too wide. It doesn't have the right kind of projection for me, I'm bottom and center full and this bra doesn't accommodate that. There's not enough space on the bottom and my breasts look like they're going to ... spill out the front. It's more shallow than I thought.
The straps fall down every time I wear it, and tightening them to not fall down would cause the band to ride up even more.
It's the expected quality from a brand such as Triumph. The clasp part is quite soft and thick which is nice, but the band is so elastic and the cup fabric is made of the same stuff. All in all 5/10 but I'm listing it now if anyone wants it https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

I have this in a pretty gold colour, it fits fine and looks good on its own but under clothes it gives me no shape or lift whatsoever no matter how much I tightened the straps ;( so I'll just use this as a sleep bra although the wire and lace are not v comfy at all.
under clothes the shape is very east west and flat in the middle

    70E

    Didn't fit

This review is for the Triumph Amourette 300 WHP underwired and padded Half Cup/Balconnette.

    General comments:

Because this bra doesn't come in bandsizes smaller than 70 I stabilised the band to make it fit more snugly. I did this before measuring it, so any discrepancy in the unstretched band measurement I provided is due to this alteration. Obviously, I can no longer provide any accurate stretched band measurement either. I may go back to the store and correct this. I also altered the straps of this bra to include nursing clasps (which I bought from the following place, if anyone is interested in trying this alteration for themselves: ... rel="nofollow">http://www.assuntastore.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=17 or, for non-US customers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251096222701?var=550149834607&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649). The scalloped lace straps are surprisingly well suited to this alteration -- I will upload a photo.

    Bra description:

A handsome half cup/balconnette bra made out of black stretch lace over a padded, satin-faced underlay. The cups are shaped with one vertical seam roughly over the apex of the bust and are lined with cotton jersey. The scalloped lace continues halfway up the straps, very decorative (although for those who require fully adjustable straps maybe not that handy). The centre gore and parts of the wings before the side seam boning are the made of the same lace layered over black low-stretch (but not quite rigid) mesh. The back parts of the wings are made of some plain and opaque black stretch fabric.

    Fit:

The Triumph Amourette half cup/balconnette used to be my go-to model before my pregnancy (and before I realised I SHOULD have been looking for bras with a band size as small as 60/28) as it literally was the only bra that fit me more or less comfortably and was reasonably flattering to my shape. Now I've been breastfeeding for 10 months and counting, of all the 'main stream' models I tried the other day it apparently still is one of the more acceptable despite its obviously too large band -- even stabilised with fairly firm piece of knit fabric (salvaged from the wings of my not so successful Bravado Body Silk nursing bra) stitched to its unstretched wings it closes snugly but easily at the tightest hook. Without stabilising, the band wasn't only too big, it also it rather was stretchy, which made it even looser feeling.

The underwires of this size JUST encircle my breasts -- I wouldn't mind them being wider -- but otherwise the cups are quite spot on. My breasts can't fluctuate too much in size though as my fuller right side already shows the slightest tendency to cutting in, but under normal circumstances (*) the fit, size-wise, really is not bad. I tried going up a cup size, but despite the wires fitting me better in my opinion, the cups became way too roomy. Another thing that made sizing up a less than fitting solution were the straps: on this 70E size the straps are already JUST a tiny bit too wide for comfort -- I have very broad shoulders in relation to my narrow ribcage, but due to my high bust point and the general width of this design the of the cups and straps slightly cut into my arms when I move them forward. Sizing up made this even worse. I wonder whether it would not be or be less of a problem if this bra came in my proper band size ... it doesn't come in anything lower than 70/32 so it is useless speculation, but still.

As to the shape of the cups, something odd is going on that I never noticed in my smaller, pre-pregnancy size (70A), so I am hoping that it is a simple matter of 'breaking in', or 'washing out'. The side and front view are okay, but from the top the shape becomes outright 'boxy' with the apex of the cups pointing a bit too East-West to be truly flattering. My breasts do this naturally and on my frame it isn't too disastrous a look, but I so wish I could get them a bit more 'up front and centre'. Also, I could do without the almost 90 degree angles I see at the bust points when looking down. As said, I don't recall it bothering me before, so it may just be a temporary quirk that disappears upon wearing this bra a couple of times.

    Appearance:

Despite its shortcomings, I do like the look of this bra. On me it strikes the right balance of coverage and the way it slightly angles up from the centre gore is perfect for me (I'm not fond of too horizontal nor of too steep). The side and front profiles are okay. I'm not fond of the padding -- I really am looking for an unpadded bra -- and a tad more sheerness to show of the lace would be nice to. I like how the scalloped lace continues up the straps -- I myself have no problem with the reduced adjustability, but someone who needs their straps fully adjustable might not be thrilled.

    Conclusion:

It's not perfect, but it's definitely wearable (especially if the cup shape 'softens up') and the best-looking bra I have at the moment. It actually looks really good as a nursing bra, but the somewhat limited flexibility it gives me in terms of sizing might render it less ideal ... we'll see.

    Edited To Add:

I have now worn this bra enough times to give an update on the comfort. With the stabilised band and on the tightest hook it kind of works, but after a long day the wires start poking into my sternum a bit. Also, below each breast there is a spot on my 'non-padded rib' cage where the wires really start hurting after a while. This may have to do with the other strange thing I have noticed whilst wearing this bra: the cups seem to slip DOWN a little bit, with the underwires ending up a centimetre or so BELOW my breasts. I'm suspecting this is because the band still is too wide -- tightening the straps doesn't help, because it will make the bra band ride up in the back. Another thing may be that the cups are somehow too flat in the bottom and essentially too small for my wide-based breasts (big orange in a small glass effect?), but I'm purely speculating here. Anyone has a better idea?

Anyway, I will probably still continue to wear this bra on occasion even though it isn't the most comfortable or the best fit. It does give me a reasonably good shape -- a bit too wide spaced in my opinion, but on my broad shouldered narrow waisted frame not unflatteringly so -- and the addition of nursing clasps worked really well on this bra: I find it easier to breastfeed in this bra than in my Change Florence Nursing Bra!

Saw this on Amazon Prime Wardrobe so I thought why not try it? It’s not effective as a sports bra because it allows too much motion but it’s really comfy. There is some kind of wireless shaping for the cups where the fabric is softer/stretchier in the cup area and slightly stiffer on the sides. It flattens my boobs in the front and gives a very East-west look but not uniboob. It actually provides a decent amount of lift. I really like the strappy back and yes the straps adjust long enough to use the j-hook comfortably. Sculptresse and Elomi take note please. Front strap adjustment is another plus.

F (equivalent to UK E) is the largest cup size and the band is too large. I don’t think 80F would be as comfortable because it would compress my boobs too much. If you are in the size range and are looking for a comfortable wireless bra or something cute for low impact exercise this could be an option.

That looks really cool. Love the color/pattern. Reminds me of carbon fiber. Always a plus when it clips in the back vs having to pull it off over your head. Glad it’s comfy for you. Sometimes it’s nice to just have a comfy go-2 sport top for around the house.

    • Definitely good for a house bra. I’d consider keeping it if it wasn’t $64 USD. It’s probably a lot cheaper in Europe.

    • finallygotboobs Ooohhh goodness! Yes $64 is definitely a lot of money. Sending good bra hunting vibes your way. Hope something you like that does the job comes your way soon. :)

I previous reviewed this bra in a UK 32E. Oddly enough, I'm in between sizes, but both work on my bust.

This is a comfortable bra with an ultra high apex for everyday wear under sweaters or looser/thicker fabrics. I tend to wear it in the summer under my linen button down shirts.

I reach for the Amourette when I'm not concerned with having a perfectly rounded, front and center shape. It's simply a filler bra. The lace cups are stretchy and give me a more conical, pointy, east/west look than I would like. I'm only not bothered because I paid a mere $12 for this bra on clearance.

I have this bra in beige in a UK 32E and in black in a UK 32F. When I experience weight gain or depending on the time in my cycle, the 32F fits more comfortably than the E.

Is this bra 80F EU or 80F France? I was led to believe it was 80F FR size when I bought it, but now I am questioning that due to the band measurements.

I entered it as 80F FR so that is what Bratabase is showing now - but it may be a mistake.

Updated on Jun 17, 2018 Flag this

    • I would say yes to the 80F France (65F EU) based on the other measurements. I think it's just been well loved and the band is showing the signs of that love. :-)

There's not much for measurements, but here's the links to 80F EU:
      https://www.bratabase.com/browse/triumph/size-range/80F/measurements/

      And 80F France:
      https://www.bratabase.com/browse/triumph/size-range/65F/measurements/

      To compare cup measurements.

Also, my old 32G (EU 70H) Triumph measured 24.5" & stretched to 35.5" if it helps.

    • 1

That is helpful, thanks! I was considering trying the same bra in 80E from the same seller but may need to ask for a band measurement this time.

    • If nothing else, you could always shorten them or use a Rixie Clip. :-)

Shady underwires seem like they can pop out under the arms because they're skinny and poke the fabric, so with enough daily wear the fabric might become worn and the underwires might murder someone's armpits.
The band doesn't fit me and is still sort of tight and uncomfortable, it sits somewhere between my underbust and my ribs and the underwires aren't comfy under my arms or on my ribs. The gores don't exactly sit on my breast tissue but they still don't tack.
The straps are kinda skinny and fall down all the time due to my narrow shoulders. The overall look of the bra is okay. It is a "basics" bra, they tend to be simple so this one is exactly that. I like my bras to be more decorative.

This was my first purchase of a bra in my correct size of 8c/30c. Not too bad for my first online purchase. Underwire, centre panel and cup size fitted well and overall it was quite a comfortable experience.

Where it fell short was the slightly tight band but after a few washes it should stretch out (I'm using an extender in the mean time) and the fact that the lace on the top of the cup wrinkled and did not lie flat. But I'm attributing this to my FOB shape. Since it was just an aesthetic problem, I just did a bit of an alteration on lace.

A 30D might have been more comfortable as the side wings wrinkled a bit but as the cup was already gaping with my smaller breast, I didn't want to risk a change.

I got this Triumph Doreen a few months ago as loved the idea of a red bra. In a 34H this is a bit tight for me although it does give a firm fit. Not too much bounce here. Having said that my boobs are rather squeezed in. Gives good projection and looks fine under most clothes. T-shirts rather give away the industrial structure of this bra though, both in terms of the 1" wide straps, side boning and the cup profile. I got this in a K cup as well now and that is definitely a better fit - but not available in red I understand.
