  1. Voodoo Plunge Bra (3511)

    Didn't fit

Here it is, my Voodoo bra!

Definitely runs big-ish, both in the back band (this is a stretchy 30, already closed on second hooks *and I know the middle hook isn't closed but I suck at closing bras behind my back (; if you do too, Voodoo does need back-closure-contortion!*) and partly the cups (I'm normally more of a 30GG or H). While the mesh under-cups are tight, borderline quadding, I wouldn't want to size up: read on..

This bra is pretty awesome - still loving the design! I actually prefer wearing the X-cross-straps on my back, instead of on the front as advertised, this way it actually seems quite ... wearable under modest necklines. Support and basic construction seem good (only tried it on and took pictures), shoulder straps are nice and wide, quality of hardware and materials appear to be at usual mid-range lingerie standards IMO.

However, I'm very glad I never bought it at full price.. Mainly because of one major design flaw that I had luckily been expecting from reviews I'd read: the puckering fabric overlay!

People (sweetnothingsnyc, Hcupchronicles, Figleaves etc. customer reviews) mention how it looks like there's an empty nipple pocket (?) that sort of folds and is hard to adjust. I was hoping this pucker might be avoided / minimized by sizing down. In the size I chose it's not too bad - but still noticeably there (more so in real life than visible in pictures).

So yeah, it really seems like a scaling / manufacturing flaw - the (rigid) mesh under-cups definitely fit a size smaller than the satiny-stretchy over-cup parts. As if they put the overlay of a 30H on a 30G under-bra? On a technical level, the darts in the satiny cup part seem wrongly sewn. Like their angle doesn't successfully match the desired cup shape. Also it's obviously difficult to match stretchy to non-stretchy materials? Still a shame though, and probably the reason for Voodoo being significantly discounted on Figleaves.

Anyhow, personally I hate the feel/look of visibly too-large bras, so any puckering or gaping annoys me. Because it was an expected flaw I can accept it. Still have to try it under clothes, it may be fine! If it does keep bothering me I'll consider attaching the satiny part to the outer wings/wires - pinning the fabric that way did seem to fix the issue.

All in all, if some pucker-annoyance is not your pet peeve, and strappy bras are your cup of tea, Voodoo is actually quite a good option in the fuller bust range!

Very pretty, I especially do love this elegant strappy take on a racer-back!

But I do not understand the raised gore at all. Why would the gore come up even higher than the cups? Do people actually want this?

For me sadly it's kind of a dealbreaker - as I prefer lower centres, and lowering this strange gore would involve major surgery and wire cutters :'(

    • MiskiDwie , please tell your friend this bra looks great on her! I love the way the back looks, too. I agree with bubblegum they made the strappy back look beautiful and elegant. I didn't realize they had made the panties ouvert. What a provocative and pretty set!

    Hasn't set fit

When I was planning on purchasing this lovely set, I was surprised to see it didn't have any measurements / reviews on Bratabase!
So ordering it -and specifically, adding it on here- almost felt like doing a public service, haha.

    Appearance:
Obviously why I couldn't resist this beauty.
This was certainly a 'frivolous purchase' that I was trying to curb in 2020, but hey - sometimes you can just spoil yourself.
The colorway is called 'Peacock' and that makes so much sense. It's made of black mesh with an overlay of beautiful turquoise, blue and gold embroidery. The same bright colors are used for decorative rims, both under the cup ... along the wires and bordering the upper cup edge. The two center straps that go over the breasts run through a small ring at the gore, which makes them easily adjustable / no asymmetry issues.

There's even a strip of turquoise piping on the side (not reinforced or side boning though, almost looks like that) which I actually noticed in pictures to look a bit 'pulled' backwards to me? Kind of an unnecessary decoration IMO but okay. The matching high waisted briefs are super cute as well, with detachable suspender holders and a blue ribbon tie + peephole on the back. Mind you, that does mean you have to open & re-tie it as you use the restroom, it doesn't pull over your hips as most briefs would. Overall I really love the appearance. This bra is meant to flaunt (; and that is what I'll gladly do!

    Fit:
I've tried a couple Scantilly bras over the years, with varying issues in sizing. My Voodoo (30G - Scantilly » Voodoo Plunge Bra (3511) ran quite large in both band and cup, but I had read multiple reviews to advise me on that. For Encounter, I found reviews by theLingeriePrincess and ComicsGirlsNeedBras that made me decide on a 32G - my general 'safe/gamble' size for Curvy Kate / UK bras. While the cups are on the small side for me (I definitely quad towards the center, more so than the photos show) I'm happy with the size I chose. The 32 band is super comfortable (not tight at all in my opinion, contrary to the L.Princess' review) and because the cups are pretty low coverage, the fit is quite forgiving. Keep in mind that the cups / cup edges are not stretchy, although for me they don't really cut in too much (I still lean towards FOT, but my upper fullness has settled a bit in recent years). The plunge has a nice low gore (5 cm.) which I personally l.o.v.e. (can't stand a high gore).

The briefs fit quite generously - as I expected to be the case from my earlier Scantilly experience. For my 43"/110cm hips and 31"/ 78cm waist I ordered a Medium (rather than my usual L or UK14) and I can almost tie them as tight as they allow.

    Design issue/nitpicking:
For all it's beauty, I'm not super impressed with the way the embroidered overlay is stitched onto the cups.
The pleating at the underwire makes it seem 'bunched up' in the bottom, almost giving the impression of a too-large cup, even when filled to the brim.

Overall this set is gorgeous though, the colors are beyond pretty and the bra & briefs fit quite comfortably - enough for full day wear, not just a 'boudoir' set at all!

This is such a beautiful set! Wow. Looks great on you.

I see what you mean about the embroidery on the cups bunching though...too bad. Minor detail though that doesn't take away from this gorgeous bra!

    • 2

This lingerie set is so extravagant looking, I love it!

To be honest I didn't notice the 'faux' bunching because I was too busy admiring those centre straps! But I can understand why it's bothersome.

I'd say overall, this is an excellent find!

    • 2

Thank you, yes I'm happy with it indeed!

      The overall aesthetic is so beautiful that I can forgive some minor flaws. Helps that I bought it on sale as well, as my standards would be somewhat higher when paying full price (;

This is my first Scantilly set, it fits similarly to Curvy Kate so you should be fine with your CK size in Scantilly. It fits decently but is a bit on the small side, but I'm not sure if it's a size issue or the fact the cups are rather low coverage. For the MSRP the materials aren't as high of quality as I would expect, but if you find it on sale it's not a bad set. Full review and more pics on my blog, I changed up the background for my pics too.

    • oh interesting! I am curious, how much do they charge you in Poland for this bra? I agree the quality and workmanship does not look "premium" to me either.

I'm appalled the wires came out. I hear about this problem often from women who can't get a tacking gore. In this size range manufacturers should understand that very few people have a breast shape that can fit in a cup that is shallow near the gore (the breasts have to have somewhere to go!!). This one is pretty shallow there and the wires probably were able to move around too much. Perhaps the openwork gore also allowed further movement.

    • Whoa! That was a fast failure.

I cheated with this bra...I fit more comfortably in a 40 band but with a nifty band extender this one now fits great. I chose my sister size in the 38 band and as usual my smaller side does not quite fill the cup but a cookie helps tremendously. I am excited to wear this bra under dresses with the added embellishment strap. Surprised there are not more of this bra in the database as it is gorgeous! I am considering another Scantilly with a band extender while I lose a few more pounds to get down to the 38 fitting without it. I am almost there!

I was surprised to see that in 32HH it actually fits my 30JJ. The bra has loots of immediate projection, the cups are really deep, the band is snug. Actually this 32 band feels and measures like most 30 bands I own. Would definitely be too tight for someone who really needs 32 band. My soft tissue and very center-full breasts make some minor quadding towards center when I move, but it's nothing I wouldn't appreciate from a bra of this kind. Volume-wise the cups are just a spot on for me. I loooove the shade of this bra as it serves as a perfect nude for my pale skin. I also prefer wearing the halter strap at front instead my neck: it looks more interesting and feels more comfortable to me this way. The shape this bra gives under closing is very full-and-natural(in a good sense), and without clothing it emphasises all the curves, so it's my favourite bedroom piece so far!

    Didn't fit

I got this set today from Brastop and I'm in love! Fit wise it's not the greatest, but I expected that (I sister size up, then also went down a cup size). It's beautiful though.

I haven't measured yet, but I have a feeling that the bra runs large in the band. Even on the tightest hooks, it is noticeably loose on my. The cups seem about true to size. They're wide and shallow but not as wide as I had expected which is a plus. It's also open enough on top that I don't have too much noticeable quadding. The straps are also quite long. They are fully ... adjustable, but I have to adjust them more than halfway. It isn't an issue for me, but I usually don't have to shorten my straps much at all, so this could be an issue for some people.

The briefs are nice and are the first pair of high waisted bottoms that are truly high waisted on me (they hit right at my natural waist). One thing to note though is that I generally have trouble in this area due to being 5'9, so if your high waisted briefs are usually high enough these will likely be too tall for you. They also run quite big. Based on their size chart, I should be a size XL (which is consistent with my normal bottom size). Due to availability, I sized down to a Large. The size L is still larger than I'd like them to be. They're baggy in the leg holes and also in the top part of the back. There is a little cutout on the back and the elastic surrounding it doesn't touch my body in most places.

Despite the fit issues (most of which I anticipated) I still love this set. As I didn't really intend for this to be for every day wear, the fit is not overly important to me and I'm glad that I was finally able to find a leather look bra in (almost) my size.

    • Holy, looks much too small in the cups.

You look super hot in this. Great bedroom bra. ;)

    • 3

Dvrgrl812 It is one cup volume smaller than I generally wear (they stop at a HH and I couldn't realistically go up two band sizes) and its also a bad shape for me as well. Pulling it out of the package I had a "wow, the cups are so flat" moment because all of my other bras have much more projection. But I think that the Scantilly line is mostly supposed to be boudoir type stuff so I think that it is kind of supposed to have less coverage than most bras.

cupandahalf Thank you! I've been looking for a leather type bra for quite a while so I was pretty excited when I saw this pop up on Brastop's Facebook page :)

I think i would have liked this bra much more if it were a 30H. It makes my breasts look so saggy. This is a major problem I have with Curvy Kate; cups are too wide, cups are too shallow, and zero consistency in sizes. I will probably say this for ALL my Curvy Kates

Bought from brastop for $23USD total on 3/22, shipped 3/23, arrived 4/11 to southern east coast USA.

    I am usually a 32F/FF (US 32G/H or 30 I/J), 30FF, comexim 75H or 70H, standard EU 70G. Even fullness, separated breasts.

Bra fits like a snug 32F(US 32G), cups are SHALLOW, straps could be adjusted for even bigger cakes on a plate cleavage.

Bra fits almost perfectly, except there's a small bit of room at the bottom of the cups (not sure anyone could get past that, unless they were very small and shallow). The wires are about a half inch too long for me, but not uncomfortable. Wings could be shorter or straps moved in closer (not really sure) for even better comfort. I don't believe I could sister size up in this bra without wires being way too long. I believe this size is the best fitting option in this style.

This is such a vavoom bra - fun! Just a note for posting bras along the bratabase journey, it can be helpful to mark bras as "did not fit" when it is too shallow (empty cups at the bottom), too small in the cup, too wide in the strap... and mark in the notes that it fit well enough to keep and to wear. Everyone has bras like that - I just added one to my drawer this week! I found making those changes in "my bras" helpful for me as I continue to buy bras with different measurements, styles, comfort levels and fit in mind. It also helps fellow bra aficionados learn what a well-fitting bra looks like versus one that does not fit superbly but is good enough. Happy bra shopping!

Wowza this bra is hot. I ordered off of my normal size (30Jish/ Comexim 60P), because it was an unbeatable price on breakoutbras. I had read that the cups ran one to one and a half sizes large, which gave me hope of enough room in the cups, even if the band is a little looser than I prefer. It is a very light weight mesh. The color I got is similar to my own skin color, so the noticeable aspect when wearing the bra and (also smoking) panties are the black lines. I like the cutout at the bottom of the gore, ... which reminds me of my panache quinn, as well as the cool ring holding the band together there. There are similar golden rings attaching the straps to the cups and the band, There is also a bonus decorative black strap, which I have shown in my pictures being worn across my chest or behind my neck. The panties also have very unique cutouts across the front. I ordered in my normal size medium, and they fit great, without pinching in and causing rolls which some British underwear tend to do.

As you can see in the pictures, the cups do not fit perfectly. There is both too much width (darn it UK bras!), but unexpectedly some looseness up top. This does not commonly happen to me, I am guessing this may be a more top full friendly bra. Most mysteriously of all is where the cups cut in to my tissue in the center. I am certainly center full, and maleable, but this is something that rarely happens, I think it may be a tension issue between the black outlining material and the beige mesh of the bra, not really sure. Anyhow, I am looking forward to wearing this on my next date night, I know I will hear no complaints about the minor fit issues!!! If you can wear any of the sizes available on breakout bras, I highly suggest ordering a set!

Ha! It sure does look a lot like that! It won't be an everyday wear bra, but I am not disappointed :)

I didn't expect a perfect fit as I was sister sizing

    • It looks really great for being sister sized twice.

Since it is also a once in a while night, maybe at some point you can play with it by shortening the band or taking off some of the top of the cup to make it fit even better, that is if you want.

Thanks for letting us know it runs large, I can cut this off of my list of Scantilly I can possibly pull off (I wear 28D/DD, would have to purchase 30DD, so definitely a no-no if it runs large).

I agree, on all the "real person" photos (not stock photos) I've seen, when the bra is on, that satin part does not sit right on the wearer. It looks like it is missing something, like maybe it should have been gathered at the center or there should be SOMETHING else going on with it. The design looks unfinished. At least it looks like a very nice fit on you in this size! I wonder if you can take off that weird satin part or maybe attach two chiffon panels to make a babydoll?

    • It is - I would not pay so much for it. This bra was sent to me for review purposes for free, and I admit, it is a pretty bra, but it is not very luxurious-feeling or great design-wise.

    • 3

I wish Curvy Kate would make an actual luxury line: softer, thicker elastics, softer fabrics, higher quality stitching, better graded straps and bands and former wires for larger band and cup sizes, etc. As well as a more mature, elegant style with finer embroidery or patterns like the Bardot sometimes. I find Scantilly to be pretty ridiculous in general, probably because it looks to me to be a teenagers idea of what bondage looks like. Although their most recent styles are getting better and I like the gender neutral and ouvertboptions. Still, Marlene Dekkers does it much better.

I'm still getting that flamingo bra in the spring though. Because there's always a place in my heart for kitsch and birds.

Oh my goodness, this may be the sluttiest (in a very good way) bra that I have ever owned - the cups are very, VERY low-cut. They're quite close together, which would normally be a bit of an issue for my shallow/wide root shape, but because the cup is so low there's no gapping, there's some serious push-up, and the general effect is of Heaving Stupendous Bosom Barely Contained By Bra, which I never thought I'd get with my not-terribly-big-mostly-in-my-armpits boobs. Top of cup line verges on quadboob but I think that just contributes to the Heaving Stupendous etc. etc., and I think if I went up a ... cup size it wouldn't look as good - less shallow ladies (or ladies more concerned about nipple escaping for non-boudoir wear) might want to go up in the cup. Fabric and lace are very pretty, and while the gore is quite high for the cup height (it comes up above the top of the cup) it seems comfortable. Gorgeous bra!

(I am also, as ever, annoyed that Scantilly bras fit me way better than regular Curvy Kate, given that they're nearly twice the price)

Regularly wear a Curvy Kate 34HH plunge or Polish brand bras. The pleather makes it hard to get on. tiny straps are useless for adding support and afraid i'd brake getting it on. velvet feels bad and looks odd next to pleather, both seem cheaper quality materials than I'd hoped for. I tried this on with loosest hooks and the decorative front straps. The cups are too separate- pushing the top of the gore off my chest and causing the bottom to dig into my sternum. wires are off to the side a lot, cups have some gaping at the top but overflow in the middle, but i ... think this is my size, arm skin sticks to pleather, decorative straps are a weird feeling on my neck- they could use to cross lower and be less of a choker. band seems a little tight but I can fit fingers under and it seems like it may just be less stretchy but the right size. center definitely cuts into my sternum more than most curvy kate bras (I have a sensitivity issue on my sternum), outer wires are a little too far on my side but don't seem to hurt in a five minute try on at least, I definitely have some of the cup just covering my side with about 2 finger widths away from my root, and some of my tissue spilling out center front.
Tried taking off the decorative straps and the fit got worse. the straps became too separate, the cups moved more east west and I spilled over the top/center edge of the cup too much. I dont think sizing up in the cup would help much, as there's cup Im not filling on the outer sides.
Sewing quality seemed great, the copper notions (hooks and such) were really nice. The pleather and velvet seemed somewhat cheaper than I expected. The velvet semed to have a whiter tone than the pleather and I wish they color matched it to be a richer color.
comnfort: the band seemed firm and the decorative straps seemed to want to ride up towards my neck. Other wise it felt comfy. Unfortunately, I spilled out centerfront enough that my appearance in it makes it unwearable.

Cakes on a plate shape. However the front is too blunt for my taste. The cups are nice and open at the top though.

This had a terrible wrinkling problem for me. It was suggested that might be it's newness (stiffness maybe) and it needed breaking in.

The lace is super cute, but that and the seems show under everything, a lot.

IMO, this is lingerie, not something I would wear daily or even for a night out as it would mar my outfit. It's a "let me slip into something more comfortable" bra.

Beautiful, quality, fun. Not sure I can justify it since I have no idea when I could wear it.

    Didn't fit

I would say this style runs very small, based on all the other 36HHs I’ve been trying on. Very, very small. In both cup and band size. Almost to the point I think this one has been mislabeled.

For some reason, despite being a 36, this is a very tight band fit. Tighter than some of the 34s I’ve tried.

The underwires run very high up into the armpit. It pokes. But what’s weirder is the wings and the cups also run very high up, almost like an elastic waistband that runs directly under the armpits. That section gaps and bows depending on posture.
My breast tissue is ... pushing the center gore out. I am quadboobing over the balcony shape.
But for some reason I feel like I would love this shape and support if only the cups actually fit my boobs. I think the bra is trying to squish me back and minimize me, and that’s where most of my fit issues are coming from.

I really want to try this in a larger size, maybe both the next two sizes up. I would like to try this bra in a 38 band and a J cup to see if it fits better. And in a different colorway, I normally don’t go for red or pops of color, but this was the only option I had where I bought it.

Edit: I just realized that HH is the largest size Scantilly makes. *which makes me so sad* because I loooooove the shape and style that Scantilly makes!! So I can’t try this in a larger size, or in my size. ;(

Cups too small. Band too big. Still wearable fastening it on the innermost hook and not caring about quadboobs. Half cup bras are definitely not my best option.

    Hasn't set fit

Since I don't see many reviews for this bra, I'll try to add a bit more detail. Overall - the concept is very pretty but the fit is quite off.
First off, the band is extremely tight. I've had other bras from both Curvy Kate and Scantily and the band have always been quite true to size, but in this case the band runs at least one size smaller if not more. It stretches very little and it's hard to stretch, I could barely put the bra on WITH an extender (although this is my correct band size). I'd probably need two band sizes higher for a comfortable ... fit.
The fit of the cup seems to be a standard Scantily half-cup. Above the cup there is this decorative horizontal strap, attached to the cup by three other vertical straps (none of which are detachable). This is the part of the bra that causes in my opinion the biggest fit issue. This strap is extremely tight compared to the cup depth. It's also barely stretchy, as it's just sewn from stretch satin - maybe an elastic would have been a different option. When the bra is simply lying flat, this strap has the same length as the band, but it is barely 3.5cm above the cup. This means that this strap cuts into any upper fullness. This seems to me a bit of a style fail because the half cup is designed to give cake-on-a-plate cleavage, which means it anyway creates additional upper fullness, and then this strap cuts in. I wasn't sure if this was by design, but it looks like it fits this way on the models as well. I'm curious if it fits others better.
Regarding the materials, I like the beige tulle that covers the bottom of the cup. It's just one layer but it feels sturdy and supportive, and for a light skin tone it creates the illusion that the bra is all just straps. The stretchy satin fabric also feels soft and good quality, and the gold-rose of the hardware is very pretty. The finishing however is not very carefully done, most seams have some loose threads, and on the inside even the materials are not very cleanly cut.
