    Didn't fit

First of all, this bra in the blush/black colorway is GORGEOUS. The contrast is beautiful and the bow detailing is lovely. The construction is very solid, and the wide back band is extremely comfortable. Being between a FF and a G always gives me an odd fit in the cup, especially considering I'm very FOT and thus it can cause a bit of quad boob. This bra is no different, but not enough to warrant a size up in the cups. I've heard people say to size up in the band but this is not the case in my experience. The 28 band is definitely spot on for me. Overall I would absolutely recommend this bra, particularly for the comfort and striking appearance.

  2. When I first tried on this bra, the top part of the gore poked into my chest a little bit, but I bent them out a little bit and it is no longer a problem. This bra fits so well! The only little things about it that could be considered bad it that if my shoulders aren't pulled back (ie if I slump over a little bit), there is the tiniest bit of gaping on my smaller breast. Also, when I adjust the straps to fit tightly enough, they sit nearly on my collarbone. This isn't really a big deal for me though, as ... it's not uncomfortable-- I can hardly tell. The band stretches perfectly, it's not too tight nor too loose. The underwires, so far at least, do not dig into my ribs as previous bras I've had did, it sits right under my inframammary fold. My breasts are pretty self-supporting so they don't 'conform' very well to bras that are too wide or too shallow or long, and this bra holds them very well without any squeezing in the wrong places. It also gives my the very tiniest amount of cleavage!

As far as fitting under clothes, you can't see the lines under dark clothes or the line at the top of the cup. It gives a very projected shape, nice and rounded, however slightly more pointed then my Tiffany bandeau, which is possibly the roundest bra I've ever come across.

Update: After having this bra for about 3 weeks and wearing it on the first hook, I decided to try it on the second hook, and voilĂ ! Gapping issue at the top of the cups solved. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

  3. So ugly on me!
I CANNOT BELIEVE that I finally found a bra that fits, but can't keep it because it feels like the cups go up to my neck!
    Drives me nuts!

But... I'm one step closer to my perfect bra!

    • That happens with a lot of people. The Parfait Charlotte is a tall bra, with tall cups that go up high in the armpits. It also has been known to run small in the band and cup, so you 40HH would be a 38HH in other brands.

    • 1

I definitely don't recommend keeping a bra you find physically uncomfortable but this is in no way ugly on you. It looks great on this photo actually. Does it actually bother you physically (cuts into armpits etc.) or are you just not used to bras that actually contain all your boobs after years of wearing too-small cups?

Also, I say this to everyone so I apologize for being a bore, but women who have been in badly-fitting bras for years usually have the habit of overtightening the straps (it's the only way to get any lift with a poorly-fitting bra). Sometimes people can try on a bra that has the potential to be very comfortable, but after doing their habitual "shorten straps to the max" thing this creates the false impression that the bra is uncomfortable. I always recommend that people who are new to the whole bra search thing loosen the straps a good 3-4" before assessing comfort.

    • 1

I just recently got the same bra in the same colourway through a swap, and its taken a couple of wears for it to actually be fully comfortable. It is odd that the sides of the bra come up so high (takes some getting used to), but for me at least they kind of softened up and aren't terrible. But to second wendybien , don't wear anything that hurts! I've done that before and it was a bad, bad choice.

    • 2

I had the same problem with my charlotte. I didn't wear it for months, even though I love how it looks. Someone on facebook recommended taking the gore in, and that actually fixed all the problems I had with it. Now the cups don't come up too far.

    • it doesn't hurt at all actually; it's very comfortable.
I just don't feel good in it... like emotionally.
What do u mean "taking in the gore?"

The first one on there. It's easier to sew it by hand.

      http://brasihate.blogspot.com/2011/12/saving-princess.html

It will look like the second picture on the inside.

    • You don't feel good about it emotionally...? Meaning you don't think it's pretty on its own, or meaning you do not like what it does for your shape when you have clothes on? Does it create an east-west sort of wall-eyed appearance? Perhaps you need more deep-cut cups near the gore?

    • wendybien

      LOL "wall-eyed appearance". !

    Didn't fit

The rave reviews I read before purchasing this bra are all correct. This is the first time i have cleavage in a well fitting bra.The phrase "sexy scaffolding" is a perfect description for this bra. Cups are shallow and I went one cup size up from my usual 38F. I think that would have fit just fine because I have a bit of gaping around the top edge after a few hours, but I have very shallow, FOB breasts so this is good enough.
The bow on the center gore was mis-sewn on mine and a little messy but I got it for $18 on Amazon so I love it anyway.

    Didn't fit

I was so excited to see this fancy retro bra in large sizes here at the Bratabase, but Parfait By Affinitas really let me down. I should have been skeptical of a $35 bra. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

top boob near arms was baggy, underboob was okay, quad-boob was stupendous. straps to wide and I have really broad shoulders. A big fail all around.

Sorry, didn't think to measure or stretch...I wanted them out of my house as soon as possible for a refund/exchange.

The outfit I ordered from had them listed as UK sizes, but clearly neither the 40HH (I couldn't post that one) nor the 40J fit in any way, shape or form. I think I would need a 40L or M or a 42K/L. But the shaping was not for my boobage, so I sent them back and requested a non-bra item in exchange.

    Didn't fit

The design is really cute, but I don't like the peach color, it's more manila folder than a peach. I'm a 32G and I ordered the 32GG because I read the cups ran small, unfortunately the band size does too apparently or I'm not used to tight bands as this is my first normal fitting bra I've ever owned. It does fit at lot more securely than my other bras, but I found it uncomfortable and I do believe the band size was a little too snug, or the underwires were too harsh on my ribs. I'm debating returning it or keeping it and hoping it stretches to a comfortable level.

    • sugarbra Thank you for the mention of the color more resembling a manila folder! :) I think I'll go with the read instead of the ''peach''.

The 30F in this bra is a bit small on my larger breast (which is why it became my test dye bra) but the quadding is not bad enough to make it unwearable. I still find it extremely wearable and comfortable. I dyed this Charlotte teal blue, it got a bit wrinkly during the process but still fits exactly the same. When dyeing these do not smoosh them, I have dyed two others sans smoosh and they look just like the undyed ones but in different colors.

  8. I love the Charlotte! Love! This is my best fitting bra so far I think, and while I generally prefer unlined bras the support and shape of this one has been just unbeatable. Plus it dyes really nicely. I love the Dusky Pink color of this bra, (I found the high waist panty runs large in this color though) it could almost pass for a neutral if it didn't have the black,of course then it wouldn't look so nice. I have found that the straps get a bit of fraying at the connection points after several wears though this does not affect the fit or sturdiness of the bra.

    Didn't fit

After reading nothing but great reviews about this bra, I decided to get one for myself. The wild pink colour is something between bubble gum pink and hot pink which a shade I am a fan of. The straps are very wide (the widest I`ve seen on any bra). While it is a god send to my shoulders, my brain is telling me it looks a bit too wide to satisfy my bra aesthetics requirement.

Regarding fit, the cups are a tad bit shallow on me, resulting in the wires being pushed out by my boobs and floating away from my chest wall. Sizing up would certainly make ... the wires too wide. The wing and wire height, however, are not bothersome though they are high. I did appreciate the side coverage.

The last item to note is the band stretchiness. I`ve never liked Parfait bands. I own 2 others that use the same band design. It`s a powermesh elastic panel that while good and tight, the fact that it is not lined (like on my Freya Decos), I actually find it to be less effective. Not only does the band ride up beginning at the point that the band transitions to this powermesh material, but it rides up with a vengeance. It also likes to pinch and showcase any flesh you might have on your back. So while I decided the bra looks great on me, the band construction/composition is what ultimately convinced me to return it.

    Didn't fit

This bra is an enigma. By all accounts, it shouldn't work for me - it's said to be shallow, not good for full-on-top, etc. And yet I really, really like it. The 34J is the wrong size (I should've checked Bratabase first...), so I do get quad boob, but I am hoping to return it for a better fit.

Despite the sizing issues, the Charlotte is comfortable and supportive. The band is really wonderful. It has a 4-hook closure (!), which almost seems like overkill until you put it on. It feels so nice, by far the best of any full-bust bras ... I've tried.

The cups are designed to work almost like rounded shelves. It's an interesting effect, pushing my breasts rather more upward than I've seen in other bras (I don't wear padded bras much, can you tell?).

I think that's why I can get away with a shallower measurement here. A lot of my tissue isn't in the cups at all, but instead re-distributed up above to create an overall taller breast shape. (I have soft breasts, so they are rather open to suggestion, if you will.) As seen from the front, the effect kind of reminds me of augmented breasts. This may or may not be your cup of tea. I'm not sure I'd want this look every single day, but it could be fun on occasion.

The Charlotte feels very sexy to me for other reasons, namely the lovely black contrast, the supportive band, and the mix of fabrics/textures. It's fun to touch and to look at, and it feels like it would hold up over time.

A bra that is beautiful, comfortable, and affordable is nothing to be sneezed at. I will definitely try again in a 34JJ - I don't think I'm too far off with this one. ( *Why* does it work, though? Such a mystery, makes me question everything I thought I knew about my shape. I will have to ask the experts here.)
