This baby cost me AU$130 & was worth every penny! It's lasted me for ages, doing double duty as my everyday & sexy bra of choice, & has only recently popped an underwire. So well made, & it fit great until I recently put on a little weight. Would definitely buy again if I could find it in my current size.
It is with both a heavy heart and a dose of frustration that I say: I think I'm giving up on Ardour.
I first tried Masquerade's 28D, but the cups were too small. Then I tried Panache Black's version in 28DD, but the cups were too large. Then I tried Masquerade's 28DD, and it was damn near perfect -- but the lace detail on the straps was extremely uneven. So I ordered the (apparently) last remaining Masquerade Ardour in 28DD on the internet... and the cups were a touch larger/taller (still smaller than Panache Black's version, however), causing some gapping. Not a ton, but enough to make it not ...worth $80 to me. Especially given how easily the top of the cups play peekaboo with most of my necklines.
I wanted to love it. I was determined that this was -my- bra. You know, the ONE. But I think the fact of the matter is that it is just a bit too shallow on bottom and open/tall on top for me.
It's gorgeous and it's comfortable, and it is very high quality. It's sexy, and the mulberry color is rich and wonderful (and surprisingly not too visible through lighter clothing). But I think I'll be sending this beauty back out into the world to find an owner better suited for it.
Live on and be glorious, Ardour. Read more 115 more words
I really like this bra, in particular, I've struggled finding straps that didn't dig into my armpits, and this has straps that are closer to the center and very satiny. All the fabric is soft, even the lace, which is good because my skin is sensitive.
I find that the cups are narrow, projected, and a little more full-on-bottom. The band runs pretty tight, and the cups a little loose, I usually run in between a 34 and a 36, and this is snug in a 36. Usually with a 36 band, a F is a little small and an FF is little large, but the F fits maybe a tiny bit loose.
I also have this bra in a 34FF, which I got first, wore once and realized it was too snug for daily use, but otherwise I liked it enough I wear it with an extender and bought the 36F.
This is such an underrated bra! This is my go-to bra for any occasion.
Pros: Soft material Most comfortable moulded bra I've ever worn Straps are semi-padded Nice tight band for a sub-28 such as myself Simple yet elegant Encapsulates tissue surprisingly well for a plunge Lots of support
Cons: Expensive (around $82) Not available in beige Not fully-adjustable straps Not my preferred shape under a shirt (I like round and uplifted)
I personally love cleavage, which this bra can give on a day when your breasts are bigger, but the cups are just separated enough to where they don't get sweaty.
I love the color of this 'Heather'. It's neither purple or gray, but a combination of both. More like a muted lavender, so it is neutral enough to go with anything and yet still gives some interesting color. The fabric is absolutely amazing...SO soft. Even the lace. I do find the lace on the straps likes to fold over, probably because it is not under tension anywhere, except the length of the strap when it is stretched. I like the cup width of this one (6"), but I find the underwire & band are not tall enough to control armpit fat. The band is also ...straight across in the back and is very snug on me, also accentuating back fat. A ballet style would fit much better. The cup is on the shallow side at only 9" deep. Ironically it fits...until I swoop & scoop. Then it creates the quad effect, especially on my larger side. The gore is surprisingly comfortable. At 2" tall and 1" wide I was afraid it would cut into me, but somehow it doesn't. (I think 2" is about my limit if the gore is any wider than 3/4", but that all depends on the height.) So maybe I'll check out the next band size? Or try the next cup size? It could be either...or neither! Read more 118 more words
This bra is beautiful and comfortable! I love it, but I may need to size up to 28DD because I quad out of both cups when the band is hooked tight enough for the bra not to move (the middle hooks seem good enough for me, but I measure 26 UB). I also find that the upper-outsides of my breasts are not enclosed as much as I'd like them to be (I have very broad roots), but this is a common bra issue for me.
The color is gorgeous, and the bra provides a comfortable but obvious push-up effect, despite having no push-up padding. I love that the top ...edge of the cup barely shows through a thin t-shirt (I've never met a bra that didn't on me), and it is very comfortable to wear. The material is absolutely lovely, and seems to be of high quality. I've read that some people found the lacy straps cumbersome, but I don't have a problem with them at all. The straps are actually padded, too, which makes them even more comfortable. They are not fully adjustable, however, and the metal ring which connects to the adjustable part of the bra sits in a semi-uncomfortable place for me, but it isn't too bad. I have a long upper torso, and find the straps to be a very good length (not too long or sort). I often wish Cleo bras had longer straps, but this one is great.
I tend to be shallow in the center, very shallow on top, full and projected on bottom and outsides, conical, spaced far apart, asymmetrical, and splayed. If you are similar, this may fit you very well. If you are more projected, definitely size up. The cups seem to run shallow and a bit small overall.
I am probably going to order this in 28DD (I'd like to get this in nude anyhow, and that is the smallest size that color comes in), and I will report back when I try that one on.
EDIT: After getting some fitting help here and trying this in 28DD, I realize this bra is definitely too shallow for me (despite how much I enjoy feeling like I have large breasts when I wear it, hah). Unfortunately, I get a small amount of gapping with the larger size... I really love this bra, but I think I have to give up on it. If you're shallow-breasted, I highly suggest trying it out if you can get your hands on one. FYI, the Panache Black version seems to run larger in the cup. Read more 319 more words
