    Fits

I finally got my hands on the Le Mystere Sophia Lace Bra in 30D, which has been sold out on Nordstrom Rack for a while. If you've seen my other reviews, I bought a 30C a long time ago when that was closer to my size, recently tried my current normal sister size of 30DD and found it slightly too big, and decided to size down to 30D. Thankfully, this size worked out!

I think that this bra fits quite similarly to the Masquerade Alice, where I also had to size down to a 30D. Compared to Alice, the band is much more TTS (it is ... a snug 30), and the cups are a little shallower, but it doesn't feel too small as it is designed for FOT shapes and can accommodate more upper fullness. Both are plunge balconettes that give a bit of natural push up without padding and create a really nice rounded shape. Alice runs a full cup size big, but this seems to run about half a cup size big. If you are a fan of Alice, give this bra a try!

I had two problems in the 30DD/E that were remedied by sizing down--first, the 30DD/E is designed for a wider frame, so the outer edges of the cups are too high under my arms and cause gapping. Second, the bras I got in that size had this weird ridge at the bottom of the foam where it meets the wire, so there is no room for the wire to sit against the IMF. I didn't see this issue in my 30C or in this bra, so I think it's just a manufacturing inconsistency.

I'm glad I got this to work for me again, because the bra is super pretty, and I just love the way it looks. The outer cup is covered with a layer of floral jacquard lace with a slight crossdye effect. The cradle and band are also fully covered in lace. I like that the band is actually made from mesh topped with lace, and has a proper wide bottom edge elastic, so it's not one of those flimsy lace bands that so many brands love to make. While it's narrow, it actually feels firm and supportive! The straps are narrow, but they do get a bit wider as sizing goes up. The front of the straps is covered with textured picot edged ribbon, while the adjustable portion at the back is plain satin. Fully adjustable straps would have been better, but the length of these isn't too bad. The only decoration is a lace bow at the gore with a small teardrop crystal charm.

  3. I bought my first Le Mystere Sophia Lace Bra a very long time ago randomly from Nordstrom Rack, and I have loved it ever since. At the time I was a 30D but thought I was a 30C, so this bra seemed to fit quite well before scooping. It gave a really nice rounded, lifted shape, and I was impressed by how TTS the 30 band was.

However, now I realize that this bra was always too small for me, since I was not a 30C at the time I purchased it. It does seem to run a half cup big, which is probably why I ... could get away with it. It is a plunge cut and the shape of the cup is somewhere between the Masquerade Alice and Ewa Michalak M, so it is designed for FOT shapes, and can accommodate more upper fullness, which is why I wasn't totally spilling out of the 30C despite it being too small.

Still, the wires on this were always a bit too narrow and short. As long as you are wearing the correct size or a slightly smaller size, even shallower on top shapes can wear this bra and not experience gapping at the top. As I found by sizing up to my current normal sister size of 30DD/E, however, wearing a slightly larger size is not suitable for shallower on top shapes and it will be unbelievably gappy, especially as the cups get wider and closer to the underarm area.

In addition, the bottom of the cup is quite shallow and there is not much immediate projection. Because of this, I believe there's a bit of a manufacturing issue when molding the foam for the cups, as on some of the Sophia bras, I've noticed a bit of a ridge where the bottom of the foam meets the wire, so that there is no room for the breasts to sit right against the wire. It is more prominent on some of the bras I have tried than others, so I don't think this is intentionally part of the design. On this particular bra the effect is quite minor, so I hadn't noticed it until now, though I've owned the bra for years and have never noticed it not fitting at the wire.

However, the bra is super pretty, and I just love the way it looks. This colorway, in Waterfall, actually looks a lot like the Masquerade Alice in Mineral Blue, both in color and in shape.

I really wished that the 30DD/E bras worked for me, but it looks like I will need to hunt down a 30D to get my best fit in this style! Since I sized down to a 30D in the Masquerade Alice, I expect that the two bras to fit quite similarly in the same size.

Recently, I was able to pick up three bras in 30DD/E, which is my current normal sister size and my normal size in Le Mystere.

However, as I had to size down in the Masquerade Alice to a 30D, it looks like I will need to size down in this bra as well, since I am not very full on top. I also found that the 30DD/E is designed to be too wide for my frame, so the outer cups are too high under my arm, and every time I move, it gaps horribly. There is also some slight gapping in this size when just standing. It seems to run a half cup big, though probably not a full cup big. The depth of this size is actually a little shallower than Alice in 30D.

In addition, the bottom of the cup is quite shallow and there is not much immediate projection. It is more prominent on some of the bras I have tried than others, so I don't think this is intentionally part of the design. In this bra, it is very prominent. Because of this, and probably because the wires are too big, I found that the bra wouldn't sit properly and there appeared to be space at the bottom of the cup, when in reality I think it's just the shape of the foam that's stopping the wires from sitting properly.

Pretty, but doesn’t hug the boobs, so they ooze out. Also the cups slightly turn out, so the line shows through.

Hi! You might like to post this as a fit request, as you have noted there are some things that aren’t fitting well. There are some wonderfully knowledgeable people here who can help give suggestions of things to look for in future bras.

    • It is a pretty fabric. I hate hate hate when the cups turn put like that! So annoying!

    • Yeah, this happens to me on every bra like this. At some point, I just started to assume it was something to do with my particular anatomy and softness. Or that all bras just do that for everyone.

Pretty bra! I hope you find a better fit for you.

    • Molded cup bras like this are pretty, but can be notorious for not fitting well, because if your breast isn’t that particular shape, you are out of luck, haha. You will spot lots of bras on here that aren’t molded cups, because lots of people find them easier to fit, and there are some really popular ones on here that are this molded cup style too. In the pictures this cup looks like it is definitely too small to provide good comfort, shaping and support. Have you entered all of your measurements and seen what size the calculator suggests to you, so that you can start trying some new bras? The for sale section on this website is a great way to browse for new bras without having to spend an arm and a leg trying new styles.

Not a perfect fit, but the best fit I have so far. Gives me nice cleavage a nice shape, though sometimes a little pointy. The lace design shows through all tighter fitting shirts, and it cannot be worn with white as the entire pattern is completely visible.

This is a very sexy, comfortable bra. I lost a lot of weight so it sadly no longer fits me. It didn't get much wear because I bought it relatively close to the weight loss. I'm a big fan of this brand.

Another gorgeous le mystere bra, although not as comfortable as the Safari. But the foam is a little too firm for my squishy boobs. It shelfs me and gaps in every direction. Silhouette on the pointy side of round but not excessively so.
