    Didn't fit

    Oh, Freya...

When I first tried out 28D bras, I started with the Freya Deco half cup. That really did not fit, so I sent it back and shied away from bras for a while, thinking I was somehow too small for my sister size in a smaller band. Later, I learned that the Deco tends to run large in the cup, by almost a full cup size, but that certain models - Taylor, Carly, etc., - came closer to normal. I love molded cup bras, so I decided to give the Taylor a go.

Well, the cups are smaller. I'll give it that. The band is still somewhat large ... for a 28, as expected of Freya. The pattern is pretty, the bra is classy - it's certainly not the best quality thing I've ever owned, but I've learned not to expect much compared to my 32B days. I do find the strip of brown velvet kind of tacky, but it's really not a big deal.

My actual complaint should be well illustrated in the pictures. The edge of the bra's cups pull away! It's absurd, really, because the cup fits perfectly until that last centimeter. After the velvet ends, there's a lace edging on the cup, and at this point, the molded cup actually bends away from my body. With the bra off, you can see (or I hope you can, sorry for the webcam pictures!) that this is just how the bra was constructed. I'm not sure how to handle this. No amount of adjusting the straps or back or swooping and scooping can change the fact that the cup just is not shaped like a boob. I mean, the top of the cups is a bit too deep for my small boobs, but that's nothing compared to the awkwardness of my cups showing through all my shirts.

I'm just... disappointed, really. My experience with Freya made me expect that the cups would be deep at the top and the band would be bigger. I can live with both of those, because the band just wears a little faster, and the cup thing only bothers me when I lay down. But this bra is now firmly relegated to housewear due to its construction. I would definitely not buy again.

  2. Heads up to anyone wanting to try this bra: It does infact run 1 cup size too small, compared to the Freya Deco, even though it's built off the same base and style. Then again, I've also heard Deco runs 1 cup size too large, but I disagree.

    Measurements are as follows:

    Stretched Band: 27.5"
    Band Length: 24"
    Cup Width: 6"
Cup Depth: 9" (pretty similar to my 28F Deco's)
    Wire Length: 9"
    Cup Seperation: 1"
    Strap Width: .75"

    Pros:
I just got this in today so I can't comment on durability, but it fits (in terms of feel) the same as Deco. Structure is good, however the top edge of the cup still looks a little funny ... on this because of the sewn-in detail. It seems to be unavoidable, though in the smaller size I returned it was more noticeable since the cups were too small my breast tissue was pushing on the detailing causing the edge to curl out more.
The band feels a little firmer than the smaller cup size, and it is short by a half inch. Not a whole lot but for me it makes all the difference. I can close this on the loosest setting comfortably, but am able to make it to the middle.

    Cons:
This does not give as rounded of a profile as Deco, most likely because of the detail. But it's certainly not an overly pointy one...just very...perky (I'm not too crazy for that look, so this is a con for me. Not a really negative of one.)

I think this was worth the 2 month wait =)

This is the wrong size for me, but in the right size this is a good bra for full on top/balanced boobs, with average-narrow wires. It has a lot of lift and round shape, and cleavage, probably the most popular t-shirt bra in it's size range.

    Fits

It fits well, it feels like good quality materials, and it's quite pretty. It would be perfect if the top edge of the cup lay flat. It's not that the cup is too big--the molded edge above the ribbon actually turns up and out, and shows up as a stark outline especially under stretchy knit fabric, which is most of my shirts. I'm going to keep it because it's comfortable, but I think I'll be hard pressed to find multiple shirts that work with this bra.

I included a picture of the bra under a sweater. In the photo it looks almost as if the sweater is translucent, but it's quite opaque--it's just showing the outline of the bra cups.

    Measurements:

Stretched Band: 27" end to end
Band Length: 24" end to end
    Cup Width: 5"
Cup Depth: 8" (yes, it is small for it's size)
    Wire Length: 8.25"
    Cup Seperation: 1"
    Strap Width: 0.75"

It's really pretty and has the support and structure of the Deco range. The band is just as loose though. Closed on the middle hooks comfortably brand new, but I can manage to close them on the smallest.

Unfortunately this bra runs 1 full cup size too small. This is noticeable in the cup depth. For this size it should be 8.75-9". That is what my other two Deco Plunges measure at. The stitching at the top of the cup doesn't help ... either. It's tight across my boobs and then the outer edge of the cup curls out, more so on my left breast as that one is just a tiny bit bigger. I do remember trying this same bra on instore in Nordstrom...pretty sure in a 32DD...and the cup on that was also small, so I know it wasn't just this one. Returned this for a 28FF, just awaiting its arival (early March hopefully).

    *ETA*
The 28FF fits much better. Reviewed here: http://bratabase.com/browse/freya/taylor-4971/28FF/

This model runs about 1 cup size smaller than the Freya Deco, though it shares the same shape. It's a beautiful bra.

    wonderful fit and good uplift.

my only problem is that the underwire ended up poking through the felt after a few months of wear

Updated on Apr 10, 2015 Flag this

Unless you wore it every single day for several months, the wire coming out of its casing is not normal wear and tear. It suggests the bra was subjected to more tension than it was built to resist, usually because the cups were too small or shallow at the center and thus the gore did not tack properly. WHen the gore does not tack, the wires do not sit securely against the body and they move a great deal more throughout the day, and can wear holes in the end of the wire channel.

    Didn't fit

I bought this bra on Reddit as moderately to heavily used. I could tell as soon as I measured the band and it stretched past 31" that it was used often. But I just wanted to try it out since it's technically the same as the Ashlee but in a black colorway. I first tried out the Ashlee in a 28FF and it was def too small in the cups. So I figured the 28G would be perfect. But even after being used heavily by the previous owner, I was still getting quad boob in this. So I'd def need another cup size up and prob a band ... size up as well since my new Ashlee was very tight in the band (that, and I don't think it IS available in a 28GG). I would love to get my hands on a Pale Pink Ashlee in a 30G https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Wishful thinking. Prob one of the hardest bras for me to find yet!

But out of all the Decos I've tried, I'd say this fits most similarly to the Charm, but about a cup size smaller. The lift and cleavage it provides is awesome, better than the other Decos. But the velvet trim on the outer edge of the cup does show thru. Otherwise, it's your typical Deco - comfy thick straps (not too thick tho) that are fully adjustable, perfect gore height, wing height, shallow in the cup, perfect wire width and an overall great shape. I'll have to try this in a larger cup size and update my review.
